Guys is there anyone who has replaced stator coil of 2015+ model in 2013 model D390?
Looks like my Stator is doomed again. Need some advice.

Quite a few, I know of personally. I'd recommend you to inspect your regulator rectifier too, a faulty RR too can cause a stator to fail sooner rather than later. How old was your current failed stator and how many kays has your bike clocked?

If it's the stator coil is gone then you could be looking at spending Rs.1,004/- for the 2013 model coil, part number of the coil is JY351008, I don't think they made any significant changes for this part in 2015-16 model. Do check with SVC if the new 2017 uses the same part number from the spare parts catalogue.

My suggestion if it's possible to try to get the current coil checked by road side coil shops, and if it can salvaged by rewinding/recoil or something, rewinding wouldn't cost more that Rs.300/-.

            Hi Guys,

Posting after a very long gap. I'm still using my 2013 KTM Duke 390. I've done 28K in the past 5 years. I am not a heavy user. it's mostly for commute.

In this time period, i've changed my clutch twice. I've burned the engine out and replaced it at a cost of 43K. If i start to calculate the money i've spent perKm that i have rode the bike, it would in the sup[er bike territory, i believe. I still love the bike.

I had gotten me risers from Viaterra in 2014 and installed it. Is that the reason for the clutch burn? If yes, is there anywhere i can get longer cables for this? Any help would be much appreciated.

Although i am sure people have asked this before, i have some aux lights that I would like to install. The current headlamp doesnt even have the burn of a candle :P

            Thanks

Hello Serene, welcome back. Replaced the clutch disc set twice or the clutch cable twice? Engine burnt twice, I'm starting to wonder how is it possible to seize an engine twice in succession at such low KMS, perhaps we can talk about it later. Now, this handlebar riser and clutch issue, if you can help us understand whether it was the cable of the clutch discs?

With respect to the headlamp, I'd recommend you you get Philips XtremeVision or the Osram NighBreaker Unlimited they do improve the throw. Too many a aux lamp options, LEDs to projectors to what not. You can get a pair a AUX LED and get them installed for better visibility, a cheap and effective way, works well too. You can get them online or at your nearest accessories shop.

              Cheers!

VJ, thanks for the super fast reply. I Understand that I wasn't very clear on my query.

Replaced Clutch assembly twice. I replaced the engine just once. I got it after the engine replacement yesterday. While paying up for the work done, the supervisor at KTM Vytila was telling me that the engine burn happened because of the riser.

Is it worth buying the new KTM 390 over my 201 one?

I checked with the supervisor at the service center. Apparently, they do not know of any longer clutch and brake cable

The part number of the RC200 clutch cable is JY161202.
Please note that the RC200 acable has a shorter adjustment range bolt than the D390 cable.
One sure way to check if the cable is working ok is to to check at the clutch lever for movement while rotating the handle left and right to the stops.

Okay, so we have a catch here at least according to one fact. With a riser the stretches a clutch cable way beyond or a kinked clutch cable, the clutch free play is reduced, which means a clutch without a freeplay burns faster than a clutch that has free play. Clutch expands with heat, that's where the freeplay comes in. With no freeplay, the clutch can't expand properly and starts grazing, and the result is a burnt clutch or and accelerated clutch wear.

I'd suggest you start off with making sure you have the right freeplay for the clutch with the riser on and the clutch cable doesn't stretch itself when the bike is turned left or right, which would mean accelerated wear of the clutch cable and reduced freeplay which would mean it'd cause all sort of trouble. Keep your observations posted.

                      Cheers!

Will there be a major update? I suppose it should be the same considering adventure is in pipeline and rc is yet to receive major update.

Rc definitely needs some attention, extra legroom and better knee recesses would be amazing.

                                Hi folks,
Can anyone tell me if it is normal on an idling engine, for the engine sound to change a bit as the clutch is pulled in or
released? Am talking about the sound from the engine and not the exhaust. I generally notice this when the engine is warm. Maybe my ignorance when I just start, wait for 30 seconds and push off, but when I'm parking the bike on an idle engine is when I nearly always notice this.

The last time I experienced something like this on my CBR 150R, it was about the shaft bearings of the engine that cost me nearly 15k to replace.

                                Help, anyone?! Really concerned here!

Also, has anyone here retro-fitted the exhaust of the new D390 successfully? I'm planning to do so after my warranty expires in April. This machine could use a quieter exhaust note for tours! [emoji14]
