    Re: Discover 100 DTSi

I dont ride it at WOT, I use only 1/5th to 1/4th throttle and the speed increases and decreases based on the road, during steep inclines I use 1/2 throttle just to trigger the TPS and get rid of knocking.

I believe this happens only in the morning or when bike is kept idle for a long time. I've been facing the same thing on mine, but its common I believe. In the morning after starting the bike if I pull in the clutch and shift down there'd be a bang, to avoid that I just put the bike in 1st gear before starting the bike with the clutch pulled in, then I move the bike forward and with a small tick the clutch becomes free.

what if this happens even when the engine is warm (i.e. when it comes from a 10-15 kms ride)??

Check the clutch free play, and if you notice closely even with the clutch pulled in, in gear the rear wheel will slightly keep rotating, which is normal.

After two months of being idle, took her out to meet a fellow xBhpian. And yesterday rode her to Palakkad, have to attend an interview tomorrow at Trissur. Till now doing fine. Clocked over 4.5k on the odo, still running on Valvoline.

                        Re: Discover 100 DTSi

On 29th rode to Mysore and then Kollam, after which I drained the Valvoline Premium, it did perform well, but redline for around 800kms and that too on a 2k+ oil was too much to ask for, on draining there was a loss in quantity, around 50 to 100ml I assume.

Changed to Motul 3000 20w40 and rode to Trissur, did 400+ kms and the oil did perform well considering it costs only 275rs.

On the way back from Trissur did pressure wash which was a bad idea cause the moment they sprayed her it started steaming and the area was filled with steam, so they brought the bike out and resumed cleaning, now she looks good and stands at around 6.5k on the odo, as for fuel efficiency she returns 400+ kms on 600rs fuel, which is low but considering the fact that she was pinned at 85~90kmph its fine I believe.

Thought it was a stain but on close inspection I found that the paint had peeled of, cleaned the area and applied nailpolish for the time being to prevent rusting.

Bike has clocked 7250 kms as of now, the oil is around 1250kms old and bikes starting to feel rough, which I believe cause of the off roading which I did at Rose Hills two days qgo, had my first few spills on the Discover there as well.

Today went out im search of new oil and found ELF Moto 4 Gold 20w40 for 290 for the same price Mobil 10w40 Synthetic was available but it was API SJ and this ones API SM, so went for this. Will change when I get the time.

                            Here's what Motul 3000 Plus 20w40 looks after 1250kms.

                                Re: Discover 100 DTSi

During one of my recent internship commutes the tube blasted and I was left stranded, got it replaced at a nearby shop with one from a manufacturer named 'Emerald', costed me 250/-

Currently bike has clocked 10k+ now after the recent Valparai ride, Elf Moto 4 Gold 20W40 which lasted close to 3k kms was replaced with Valvoline 4T Premium 20W50, on draining there was a 200ML drop, but I'm considering it as normal considering my riding pattern. I've used this Valvoline before but after using the Moto 4 Gold, I feel the Valvoline inferior i.e when it comes to feed back from the bike, will be changing it after 2.5k kms and would shift back to Elf Moto 4 Gold.

A snap from the Valparai ride during which we covered 850kms in 27hours due to certain unexpected route complications.

The stock rear tire after the ride, the bike did handle decently in the corners. Though the engine did struggle to keep up with the P180 during the uphill section, after all 'NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT'
