Re: Discover 100 DTSi
No, its not led bulb. My headlight bulb is Philips xtreme vision 55/60w bulb since 1.5years. I am using leds as pilot lamps, in speedometer backlit, and above rear number plate. Those leds are more reliable than regular filament type bulbs.Originally posted by saumyadip View Posti am also thinking to buy led head bulb , rather using 35w led bulb. One more thing, my bike's tail light bulb (5/21w) got fused partially, so I have replaced it with 5/10w bulb to reduce battery load.

Is your DC? Mines AC, ans even I was considering an HL upgrade, please do suggest your lighting configuration.Originally posted by Lokesh027 View PostNo, its not led bulb. Re: Discover 100 DTSi
Bike was idle for a few days and when I took it out yesterday, the rear tire was almost flat, so much for nitrogen. Anyways I filled up air using my cycle pump and rode around yesterday without much hassle. The tire was of course over inflated and it did loose traction here and there but better that than pushing it.

My configuration:
HL: philips xtreme vision 55/60w. True 20-40% improvement in output. No reflector issues so far.
Pilot lamps: 5 smd white LEDs.
Looks cool. Power saving and more reliable
Speedometer backlit: white LEDs
Number plate lamp: white LED

Re: Discover 100 DTSi
You're one of the lucky ones then. Even my ports are off set like DTSSi model, but it's branded as DTSi 4G.
Went to SVC the other day to source fairing screws that popped off when I tried to touch the magic number(Got fined as well
)
SVC aren't aware of it, finally asked for the visor screw and got it, both are similar, made custom rubber washers hoping it would prevent the screw from loosening again.

Clocked 11.5k as of now, and I've recently added a fuel filter from Hero Honda CD100.
Got a bottle of Rimula R4, but wont be using it untill I cross 12.5k.

Re: Discover 100 DTSi
I am getting a jhan jhan kind of sound from somewhere near the engine but when i checked nothing was loose...so what could be the reason??
Recently got the bike serviced from a local mechanic switched to shell advance ax7 and the oil filter was replaced......can a faulty oil filter cause this type of sound(maybe its spring got loose)??
I am getting this sound from 4-5 days after the service.

In the filter properly seated ? Though there's very little room for error there.Originally posted by abhi538 View PostI am getting a jhan jhan kind of sound from somewhere near the engine but when i checked nothing was loose...so what could be the reason??

Anyways leave no room for doubt, do open and see, and next time onwards do your own oil changes.

Re: Discover 100 DTSi
Hello,
After a long time,
Now, 14.5k on odo on my Discover. I am running on Motul 5100 15w50 from 12k, oil was changed during beginning of this summer. Motul 5100 is very smooth on gearshifts and buttersmooth running specifically running during hot summers when temperature at daytime rised to 47C. Running at high rpms during highway journeys gave some few vibrations which were tolerable. Overall its truly worth for the money paid and lasts long. I will recommend this oil only during summers.
In the previous week running was very high, I had to do long journeys and covered around 1500kms in just a week in incessant rains. The drive chain was well lubricated with fresh 90 oil at 13k. At the end of the ride, while returning home the chain was making harsh noise. The next day at home when I opened the chain cover and I observed the metal particles stuck inside indicating wear.
See image. Also some brown rust marks due to running in wet.
So, after experiencing this I have learned now to always carry a spray chain lube when going for long rides >500kms..
And I will always take care of chain for hasslefree rides.
More posts coming soon...

Re: Discover 100 DTSi
Hey guys, sorry for being late with the updates, I had shifted to Shell AX7 a little early at 12k kms, now bike has done some 12.8k kms, after riding her to Bangalore(via Madurai).
Once again the tube went for a toss, cause a few days after parking the bike(at Bangalore) I noticed that the rear tire is flat, I believe this is my 5th or 6th tube, to be frank I've lost count. Luckily I have 2 spare Ralco 3.00 17 tubes with me, planning on replacing it later on when I get some spare time. I am considering changing the rear tire, cause I believe it to be at fault and another user has also reporter a similar issue on his Platina which was later rectified by changing to MRF's.
BTW, here are some pics I shot during the Kollam to Bangalore ride.

Re: Discover 100 DTSi
Been a while now and bike was idle for a really long time until I decided to go out for a 'Biriyani' yesterday and at the same time test my brand new air pump which I got from eBay for Rs.185. The tire was inflated but for the first time she didnt start, used self till the battery was drained, then finally got bored and turned the choke on and started kicking, she came to life after a while and with some difficulty to idle had to keep the revs up for a while, when she was finally able to run, rode for some 20~30ish kms in total and came back, no issues. But today when I checked the tire it was completely deflated. I'm done with the stock 'Eurogrip' and will change it soon, probably after riding back home.
Cheers, ride safe.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Discover 100 DTSi

A lot has haopened , rode back to Kollam and bike clocked 13.5k, changed oil to 'Shell Rimula R4', the previous Shell Advance AX7 only lasted for 1.5k kms, it looked like mud water on draining. Rear tire had to be changed from Bangalore due to the puncture issue with the stock tire, hence went for 'Ceat Gripp' along with tube it costs 1.75k, which is reasonable I believe.
And today I also decided to get the front suspension overhauled. Replaced only oil seals as I couldn't source dust seals. And used stock bajaj fork oil.
So that's it folks, planning on covering some solid kms soon, hope it comes into motion.

Re: Discover 100 DTSi

Guess the mech did a shabby job, one of the suspension started leaking already. I'm assuming 160~165ml was a tad too much.
Anyways I'll be overhauling it at 25k kms so not going to bother getting it fixed until then.
Changed spark plugs, the stock ones were Bosch UR4AC, but the ones I got now from SVC are Mico UR3AC. Anyways here's a snap of both the SP's.
