    i had raised a complaint with TVS and got a call from TVS, after listening to that supervisor i had refused to give my vehicle. TVS told that they dont suggest decarbonising as a normal procedure and asked me details of ASC, i gave them details of ASC and asked them to take it forward. Then i received a call from ASC and they were asking me that what is the issue, i told them about this and told that i have not left my vehicle with them or given for service since the procedure mentioned was little fishy and looked unapproved. Then i got call from senior workshop manager of ASC to whom again i had to tell the whole story, then next day i got a call from TVS who told that due to their experience the ASC must have suggested decarbonising however we will have a second opinion with the works manager and requested me to bring the vehicle to ASC, they took the works manager on conference call. The works manager told me to bring and they will analyze it freshly. Then i took vehicle to ASC and works manager personally came and asked their expert mechanic to look at it, he took test drive and told that decarbonising is not required, works manager suggested we will just clear the carbon build up in the engine head and not give it outside for lathe work and all. On discussing with works manager who was very cooperative he told that carbon built up may be due to low quality of fuel also for which neither customer nor asc can do anything however that major lathe work is not required. Total bill after service came to 3000/- rs and had i listened to the earlier executive my bill would have been 5500/- rs approx. Since my service was at 24000 kms changed the mandatory kit of INR.1600/- approx, which was mandatory. Now vehicle is like new and pickup is also good have to check mileage.
    I have a doubt my back tyre had some 2-3 punctures following which i changed back tyre @ around 5K kms, and front tyre didnt change, i am single owner and both tyres are good now, at 25K kms Back tyre running @ 20K Kms and Front Tyre original which is @ 25K Kms, do we need to change the tyres even if tread is good?

      First of all, let me appreciate your patience and persistence to get the issue escalated and resolved directly from TVS (this is exactly what I was suggesting @hgps in the above post to get in touch with TVS or claim warranty). Good to know you are happy with the scooter now after so much drama, Rs.3000 is pretty reasonable for what all that has been done at 24K kms.

      Coming to tyre, not necessary to change both together, if thread is running good and you are happy with the grip. I also changed only back tyre to Ceat when scooter was at 13K kms and front is still running on stock tyre which came from factory after 16K kms.

      Usually back wears faster than front because all the weight is distributed on the rear and since only rear brakes are used more compared to front. So continue to use the front until thread wears out and reaches TWI (thread wear indicator).

        And another 50% could be really TVS quality issues as they have shifted their focus on Ntorq 125, earlier they had only one flagship scooter to focus on, since they already know Jupiter is a success and not concentrating much as it will anyway sell.
        Warranty couldn't be claimed on 2016 Jupiter as clutch/transmission parts came under wear and tear items. Moreover by now warranty of 2 Years is already over so nothing can be done as of now except pouring more money in fixing a lemon.
        2018 Jupiter's starter motor issue was fixed. And they didn't charge anything for it. I'm just hoping that this scooter will be a reliable companion for years to come.

          Not connected to the ongoing discussion, but have a query.
          In the manual, it states that the transmission oil is supposed to be their tvs tru4 oil. Gearbox oils are usually ep90 grade and are much thicker than engine oils. Does tvs really put engine oil in the gearbox? Ideally the 100 ml should be replaced whenever engine oil is changed.

            To answer your question, engine oil with similar viscosity to transmission oil can be used as replacement

              Appreciate the revert.

              So ideally Ep 90 but 10w40/50 can be used as stopgap for the interim.

              But tru4 premium being 10w30 wouldn't be ideal. And ep 140 would be overkill.

                10W30 viscosity being not ideal is debatable, I did some quick Google search and well guess what, there are gear oil with grade 10W30!
                I don't know where and for which gears they are used for, but they exist along with 10W40 grade gear oils.

                So maybe TVS Tru4 premium is synthesized to be dual purpose oil that can serve for transmission aswell.

                  Maybe. Anyway our climate doesn't really warrant a 10w30 oil in the first place other than the areas which have chilly winters. The above products are probably sold in places 0wxx is the norm. Here they moved to 10w30 to get more mileage but lesser life out of engines. Also, since their is only 100 ml in the gearbox of a scooter, would you really wing it knowing that it maybe harming the life expectancy of the scoot? I intend to look at using the tru4 as a stopgap for gear oil. Rather buy a ltr of motul ep90 for 210 odd bucks and be content for 10 gear oil changes. Most people don't replace the oil for years on end. Atleast I didn't for my wife's previous dio.

                      Indeed it does help with emmisions. But are Indian manufacturers really thinking about emmisions by introducing 10w30?

                      Personally, would stick to 10w40. There aren't many 10w30 fs options. Have heard of the tru4 synth which is also 10w30, a grade which is probably the bare minimum for our weather.

                          You can safely use any 10w40 oil.. you have plenty of options from brands such as shell, motul, castrol.. doesn't necessarily have to be the 'MB' grade. These days the MB grade (can be used only on non wet clutch type bike i.e. our scoots) is mostly available only in 10w30 (a few yrs back castrol had it in 20w40 and ive used it).
                          For the gear oil i prefer to stick to the EP90 variety.. but even the regular engine oil in a w40 grade should be ok if that's what the manufacturer recommends.

                          I personally prefer to use a w40 (10w40 or 20w40) on my Dio and the EP90 gear oil (Castrol/MAK spriol).. I have used the 10w30 a couple of times and did not have any issues per se, but somehow I prefer a w40. My scoot is now almost 12yrs old and done 75k + km.. with no engine repairs.

                          These scooters are happy if you use a mineral oil and change it every 2500~3000km.. same for the gear box oil (though it can be replaced once a yr, but is a 2 minute job and takes hardly 100-120ml oil.. so I do it every service)

                            I used the same TVS tru4 oil for engine and transmission on my Jupiter. Changed before 3K kms. Scooter was touch wood even as 48K kms Odo. Now I am thinking to do some Synthetic oil experiment on Ntorq,s engine. But will use the Mineral oil for transmision.

                                Hi guys, i am facing a problem, whenever i slow down the scooter in speed breakers the scooter turns off, I've set the idle rpm such that the tyre rotates slowly while idling on main stand, i warm up the scooter for about 5 minutes every morning. The problem mainly occurs in morning, even after warming up the scooter, is there any afr problem. Please help.
