My nephew is getting his TVS Jupiter in a week's time as he turns 18. I have a two part query about it.

1. I want to gift him riding gears and accessories. Can you all tell me what riding gears are a must haves and also share a few brands that I should be looking for? Also, what all accessories that could be added to the scooters? One thing that I'll be passing on to him is a Victorinox keychain that I have. He'll be getting a helmet along with the scooter, but can you all suggest a light and durable helmet brand?

2. The suggested modifications. You think if anything in the scooter, from tyres, to horns, or to suspension settings that may need modifications? And is there any underbody treatment, 3M films, Teflon coatings, etc, that is advisable?

Please let me know. I'm posting on this forum after such a long time, as I've turned into a dormant rider, but I can certainly relate to the butterflies-in-the-stomach feeling that my nephew is going through just like when I got my Pulsar 150 at 18, a dozen and a half years ago.

1. A Good full face helmet and descent gloves are a must i believe. For light and durable helmet, go for any full face helmet from studds, steelbird, vega. I'd suggest something from AXOR or AXXIS brand if you can stretch the budget. For gloves get any entry level leather glove from spg, cramster, solace. Should cost around 2.2-2.6k.
Get riding jacket from spg, solace or even scala. should cost 4.5-6k with level 1 or level 2 armor (scala marvel). Finally a good pair of boots should do. Something from Orazo in the range of 3.8k.

for the accessories, you may consider adding mobile phone holder, aux lamps (might be illegal).

2. No modifications are needed. Leave it as it is.

First off, its very sweet of you that want to gift a good safety kit for your nephew. Really appreciate the effort.

1. Rynox/Aspida/Scimitar all are good for riding jackets, you get good ones basic for under Rs.6000-8000. Helmets either LS2/SMK/MT/SOL from cheapest to highest price wise, all are durable enough the bike scooter and its max capable speed. Gift him a good gloves aswell from Scoyco/Cramster/Aspida.

2. 3m/Teflon/Anitrust underbody all are just a scam for 2-wheelers, stay away from them. Modification I recommend for Jupiter, get a Hazard light mod installed, will be helpful on highways/rain/fog etc etc for High Visibilty. 2nd Once the stock TVS tyre wears out, throw that junk TVS tyres away and gift him a good CEAT Zoom tyres. 3rd swap the stock 30/35w headlight bulb with 50/55w. Horns are Ok enough for stock, if you feel like you can get the HIGH tone horn from Apache from TVS showroom and add a relay to Jupiter and connect the original Low tone and New High tone together.

Hey, hope everyone's fine, actually as you mentioned to get the fuel pump to be cleaned, i told the mechanic but as he ie not so thoroughly versed with parts names, he wasn't able to help me, so I'm attaching a screenshot of the video you recommended to watch, would you mark which one is the pump, It'll help me a lot.

Its not a fuel pump, fuel pump is available only in BS6 models,
older BS3, BS4 models have a fuel tap with a filter and element.



Show your mechanic this video(This video is for Activa, parts are located in different place on Jupiter, but function is same.)
P.S is in Malayalam, but mechanic should understand what to do

recent service update due to corona my usage was very less, i called for pickup and drop to be done by service centre, dhiraa tvs ashoknagar, chennai. Same day delivery assured. After collecting scooter for pickup after 45 mins receive call from Service Advisor :
Issues said by me: Average, Rear Brake not returning and i checked it and seems cable is faulty , do oil change
Issues said by him: Rear wheel bearing may be gone thats why rear brake causing issues, rear brake light always on (due to brake not returning - this is common) , and headlight is broken, i was totally shocked on seeing this. I have been driving the vehicle on daily basis and know the scratches and dents of my vehicle but not able to digest the part wherein he said that the front headlight is broken. He also sent me a vido, the front headlight is full set but its not attached to the joint properly and was moving a lot. I dont know when this issue happened, but then after a series of calls with the service advisor and he took one extra day and finally came back with this:

Advisor: Rear bearings of wheel are ok, rear brake cable needs replacement, no need to do oil change we can top up oil and he can temporarily fix the headlight issue, he did fix but its misaligned now, new set costs 900 rs he said. i am totally flabbergasted, will update pics and video later for advise by members. Now there is no 100% sealing of water if it rains but it rains very rarely in chennai and i dont drive at night, every day my office gets over at 5pm and all driving in metro city only with street lights. Still will look at replacing the headlight to LED light which comes in new TVS jupiter if they agree to replace it with newer model.

Total cost was 1570

LED Headlight wont work on older Halogen Headlights, I wanted to do the same to swap them on my 2016 BS3 model, but after lot of R&D got to know the Coupler, Wiring and PWM module is different on LED model's. They've switched to DC lighting over the AC lighting on LED Headlight fitted Jupiter.

You can still go ahead and install but due to AC lighting the LED's get burnt out after some months due to variation in current and flickering based on Accelerator input in the AC setup.
Or get your Stator converted recoiled to full DC setup or Connect the headlights to battery DC circuit over AC circuit.

Thanks then will just replace the Headlight in another 2-3 months, the thing is vehicle usage is coming to normalcy only now.

seems no one updated this thread apart from myself. MY TVS jupiter was working fine and battery was at full charge bought in 8/2019 amaron battery, yesterday while returning home i started my bike with self and on signal midway switched off ignition it was raining slightly (have driven in more intense rains also) , when i switch back ignition whole battery was like dead, no self no horn nothing i panicked somehow towed my bike to side of road, and started it by kick start and reached home. Last service done was 1.5 yrs ago i assume battery is being charged by bike and also it was at full capacity never showed any weakness while taking self, usually in past my bike batteries have failed slowly, with self being affected first and then other accessories but while running itself something has happened, hence will have to give to ASC for service + checkup on this issue. Lets hope it is just a battery which failed all of sudden, once happened with our office car, battery failed all of sudden. Will update what happens.
gave vehicle to ASC for change of headlight , and general service with oil change, they said battery is dead all of sudden and is not taking any charge so it has to be replaced, i did tell them will claim warranty at the shop. They had to change headlight whole assembly and said they changed one brakeshoe. But they never gave the old parts, i should have been more persistent in getting the old headlight and parts as the bulbs were working well. But the service advisor was just telling that they are not of any use and i did not want to pursue it further. imagine the amount they will be getting from such spares.

Currently at 39910 kms,
Scooter is performance is quite good, will need to get it service in a day or two, i usually get it serviced every 2000 kms, i feel the engine oil which nowadays tvs uses is Tvs True4 Skutta semi synth in white bottle earlier they used treu4 premium which came in red bottle. After 1500 kms i feel the engine oil performance degrades, engine sounds a bit harsh, tic tic sound at idle, but after new engine oil this sound vanishes i told the mechanic before about this he said this is common sound, will ask him to check/adjust the valves this time if required.

Till now only clutch side parts like belt, rollers, variator plate have been changed, that was not required as per the TVS ASC but i got them changed anyway as it improved the refinement quite a bit overall after the change. Other than this engine is untouched. Overall this scooter is quite reliable fill it, shut it and forget it just get the service done at proper intervals.
