And the Ooty raid was successful. Kotagiri roads just made me fall in love over and over with the raccoon. RC is truly a nimble bike, even when a huge bulk like me is on it.

well, there are two guards available on ebay, but I'm not sure whether they are worth it.

Vishnu, I'm thinking of getting a pair of these as well.. however, I have a couple of questions...

          - Can the pillion sit?
          - In case of rains, I'll have to use a separate cover right?
          - is the quality good? need a short review from you.

          Thanks..

            Thanks..

            - Pillion can sit on it for maybe a couple of kilometers at max , which is better avoided as the straps holding the bags would be over the rear seat and the pillion would be sitting over that, which is to say in a very conservative way "uncomfortable".
            - There are two rain covers supplied with the bags, (one for each bag), from the outside part, it seems to be enough to fend of the rain water, but the inner part (the side of the bag facing the rear tyre and under body is left exposed which may throw up some slush (which can be fixed to some extent by popping on the stock mudguard and making a jugaad extension for the same. (i didn't face any such issue , since i had already put my clothes and stuff all in polythene covers before putting them into the bags; and yes i didn't have the mudguard on(i hate that piece of plastic :P) which resulted in loads of dirt onto the bags cover and sides. (insides stayed dry and all the bag needed was a thorough cleaning after i got home).
            - Built quality is brilliant i should say, for the money we pay, the bag is a steal. I suggest you try mounting Velox from viaTerra as well (that might require two additional velcro straps to hold the two bags together but may hold more properly than the rapide).

rounding up , mounting these bags on an RC is very tricky indeed; but once you get the sweetspot, the mission is a go! getting on and off the bike is much more easier with a saddle bag than a tailbag. Plus having a heavy backpack on 8+ hours ride would leave you reserving a room at some ayurvedic massage centre even before you finish the trip. I was lucky this time because i had the option to rest my sore bottoms on the plush seat of an Iron883 when it got unbearable, while the rider of the HD got a dose of the highly comforting seat and riding position of the RC. :P

Thanks bro.. Can you give me some approximate dimensions..?

Also, since the rear and the bottom isn't actually covered for rain, does water enter inside from there..?

Do you think that a laptop bag with a laptop can fit in there..?

                Its around 19L each.
Its unlikely that we can fit in a decent sized laptop in that. maybe a netbook which is well secured in a thick protective bag (we don't want that to get damaged in case of some 'fellow commuter' decides to give the bag a nudge with his bike/car do we? :P afterall its india and things like that happen often)
only one side of the bag is left exposed, yet i didn't experience any water seeping in from there though.

Hi all, I am having dengue and I am unable to ride my bike for past three weeks. It's so hard to see it everyday unused, taking the beat from Bangalore's wonderful weather conditions. Should I be worried, because the bike is in side stand all these days and for a couple of more days/weeks to come. Battery, Oil, fuel are bothering me. Do I need to plan some precautions?

Just fire it up every day and let it idle for 3-4 minutes. Even otherwise a few weeks in storage shouldn't cause any problems.

not mandatory, spark plugs come for over 10K kms.. but it's just a 200 rupees part, so not an issue if you change it.. the second service costs 1800-2000 depends on the local taxes & the costs of the parts, that's about including the fuel filter, oil filter, air filter & spark plug..
