Pardon for butting in, but my CBR250 requires chain tightening every 5-6k kms only. Currently it's been 6500 kms and the chain slack is within limits.

Linear acceleration + riding below 6K RPM is my mantra on my bike.Originally posted by Motomonster View PostYou people seem to be very sedate rider doing highway runs most of the time or your bikes have better chain.my hornet's chain gets Loose within 700 kms ,I ride below 5k rpm in city traffic, lubricating chain every 300 kms or in two weeks.
Rest my maintenance schedule for the chain is pretty much like everyone else here.

Re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
even my d200 goes in for a chain adjustment (that too only if necessary) during its regular service which is around 4000km for me.Originally posted by Motomonster View PostDo you really tighten the chain at 6000 km interval . doesn't it get loose within 1000 kms.i am amazed by your chain tightening interval as I heard that any bike chain needs tightening once in 1000-2000 km.
some mechanics tend to keep the chain a bit on the tighter side (Which causes a slight buzz on the foot pegs at lower speeds). i have it set with a wee bit more play than recommended (you know the chain 'tightens' up when one sits on the bike, and i am a bit on the heavier side plus throw in the occasional pillion).
I think most people would benefit from adjusting the suspension pre-load by 2 points up (i.e. 5) from the stock setting (i.e.3)

Is 6000 KMS good for regular oil change? My running is low, 9k odo, for a 1.5 years old. I rip a lot and the last oil change was @ 6k. Please advice.

Wow man.. 6K kms is good enough.. The official recommendation is 7500kms.. Avoid ripping a lot for the life of the bike engine/chain/etc..Originally posted by joe_marvy View PostIs 6000 KMS good for regular oil change? My running is low, 9k odo, for a 1.5 years old. 5K, 6K yes.. Linear acceleration does the job for me.. +1 to what s1d said, little loose coz it tightens up when you sit.. I got my suspension at 8.. Comfortable enough for me... So there you go.. Also, if you keep it lubed and clean every 500kms, yes why not..?Originally posted by Motomonster View PostDo you really tighten the chain at 6000 km interval . doesn't it get loose within 1000 kms.i am amazed by your chain tightening interval as I heard that any bike chain needs tightening once in 1000-2000 km.

Re: KTM RC 200 Owners Experience Thread
Oil change depends on how u ride. If ur constantly ripping the bike, check the color n Smell of the oil, discolored ,burnt oil is not good for ur bike.Originally posted by joe_marvy View PostIs 6000 KMS good for regular oil change? That is one way... Check the viscosity of the oil, if it becomes thick, black and burnt, time to change...else its good to go for some more time..Originally posted by Deathwing View PostOil change depends on how u ride. I own ns200 but using D200 sprocket and chain set..chain needs to be slightly adjusted after every 5k lubing after 500kms and cleaning at 1000kms..Originally posted by xplod566 View Post+1 for my Duke 200.It Doesnt need tightening every 1000Kms. .
