So the bike just started to behave weird. Turning the key on will switch on the console and no errors are shown except for the usual side stand alert, and we can hear the priming of the fuel pump clearly; however rest of the bike is dead except for the high beam flasher. i.e. No indicators , feeble horn, brake lights and ultimately no response from the start button. That was till this morning, after which now there is a small electronic sound like "krr krr" when you thumb the starter, bike still refuses to start.
Checked for low battery warnings -NONE,
        Checked for blown fuses -NONE,
Checked for any electric accessories that might be shorting the electronics -NONE.

Have anyone else faced the same issue? seems like i might have to take the bike to the service centre after all. That would mean pushing the bike like 5 kms :P , yea my orange assist validity got over and i forgot to renew that.

Have you checked the battery terminals?

Installed techspec snakeskin a few days ago. Didn't get to ride the bike at all after that because of bad weather.
I ordered it from revzilla and a friend who was visiting america brought it here.

it could probably be a relay or ignition coil/spark plug wire issue. try removing and fixing back the spark plug wire (i know its a pain to access it unless you remove fairing, which is another pain). otherwise use the extension rod+spanner from tool kit thru the fairing gap and try to tap the wire around.
there was a similar issue @Ajay Vishwanath faced with his rc200, and i was able to get it started after some poking/tapping the plug wire.

what are the accessories that you have wired in? if you do have any modifications/accessories plugged in, then you might have to dig in further.

will try that, and yea only bolt charger was connected to the system, but thats been there for ages now. Anyhow disconnected it. Will try playing around with the plug wires, and if nothing works will push it to the asc [emoji28] .

p.s. incidentally the bike is completely naked now, fairings were removed for a bit of work a couple of weeks back.

And worst case, the starter motor itself might have given up. How old is the bike?
Try swapping the relay or unplugging and reconnecting them.. the relays are located near the fuse box on the rc iirc (those ones that are brown in color)

                        hey vishnu..

i have not experienced this problem but i have heard about this from one of the KTM chief Mechanic during PDI check..He said that there is a where small connection near your stand that is used detects the side stand alert, if that has been disturbed the bike wouldnt start it seems....please look to it.

                        Cheers.

as someone mentioned, check the battery first.. i assumed you checked it with a multimeter.
if not get battery checked at local battery shop or try jump starting it using another battery.

so got the bike fixed, battery was short of some 0.3 volts , multimeter showing 12.08 something, anyhow swapped it with a working battery and tried cranking, still no response; so the service guy checked all connections and finally noted that starter motor connection had rust on it and that was not sending in enough current, cleaned it with wd40 and tried again and the bike started up fine.
Stock battery was put for charging for a couple of hours yet the battery still showed the same voltage. so thought of replacing the whole thing, hence went out and bought an amaron 8a battery and swapped it in. Changed the fluids, cables and finally the chain set after 23k kms.
Now the bike is running fine, ultra smooth. total bill amount came to 8.4k(excluding the battery cost which was around 1.9k)

So, it wasn't the battery. What I would like to ask you is the starter motor connection. Did you mean to say where the bolts exiting near the starter motor or was it the starter relay near the battery that WDd?

                              Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                              THE END

it was both the battery and starter motor bolt issue, battery refused to go above a certain voltage even after charging for hours, then there was the starter motor connecting bolts rusting issue, which was solved by WDing.
