buddy, what's your height? I'm 6 ft, my body took a couple of months to get used to the position.. now I'm ok..

it's absolutely NOT for city.. trust me.. if you are going to use it only in city (90% like me) I'd recommend against it.. also, how old are you?? if you're less than 23 or have 0 experience with sports bikes, I'd recommend against it.. what's your previous bike?? I came from a Honda Unicorn & trust me, you won't even feel the bike reaching high speeds and it reaches high speeds really quick!!!! unless you practice to keep your mind and body under control and keep your emotions under control, I won't recommend anyone a sports bike or high performance bike.. it may be "just" 200cc, but it produces 25 bhp of power, not a joke for the light weight.. go for something nicer within 1 lakh like the pulsar RS.. heavier, almost as good as the RC and a better riding stance, suitable for city.. might return better fuel economy... that too only if you absolutely want a faired bike & promise to wear safety gear, ride slow & keep yourself under control.. it's a simple thing to just buy a bike, but your ability to maintain it is important.. I lube my bike's chain every 500 KMs and before every ride, I tighten the chain myself, or you can take it to the SVC & pay to do it.. it needs the little bit of tuning and maintenance.. when it's raining, I'll lube more frequently.. keep a tab on how frequently you are changing the fork oil & brake fluids, keep an eye on the tyre treads, the coolant quality to avoid engine overheat & damage, there's a LOT of parameters when coming to high performance machines.. these are where the "CC" factor won't matter, the BHP & Torque matter, the weight of the bike matters, the handling matters.. mileage won't matter here..

my suggestion - if this is your first bike, go for something like gixxer sf or the apache to experience something that slightly more powerful.. once you get a proper hang of it, then go for an upgrade.. don't jump directly to a high performance machine...

live long.. live happy.. that's the best revenge that can be served to the people who hate you..

I suggest you ride one for a couple of days and see if your comfortable with it. You might be able to get one on rental in Bangalore ?
You need a level head if you want to be safe on the bike (for that matter any bike).

Maybe.. Try Araldite Klear http://www.amazon.in/Araldite-Klear-.../dp/B00OVMIUEG
Remove the fairing if necessary and use this to stick the broken mount. If it works, well and good.. otherwise new part.

Ok. Try negotiating for the R15 or the CBR150. They are amazing machines and reliable. That will give you a taste for what biking is and you can tour in the highway on that. It won't let you down. Once you got a hang of it like in two years or so. Sell it off and go for an "upgrade" like the KTM 250 or the Dominar. R15 is about 19 BHP. The Dominar and he KTM 250 are 30 BHP. If you can maintain the R15 in pristine condition after heavy use, you can go for higher bikes. The reason - you can learn on the smaller bikes. But a mistake on the bigger bikes, is not a learning. It will be a mistake and a dear one if you're not lucky.

For me the budget was unlimited. There was a cap at 200cc and hence I picked the RC because I love faired bikes too. Now I realise that naked is much better at maintaining and for daily and highway. The KTM RC is purely for track. I've taken her on track and realised her true potential. It is not justice to ride her on the city and off roads. She does perform them very well. But track is where she belongs. My next bike will 10000% be a naked/tourer.

I'd echo with what s1d said. Try out rentals and then give your dad & bro a ride on it and then ride it for some time. Then decide.

I see people saying go for the cheaper versions before you go for the RC200. I'll suggest against it. Go for the rc200. It's definitely light and powerful but it isn't that powerful to make your mistakes very costly. I've driven the dominar and I'll say that's powerful. I've only test ridden it with a pillion but heck it felt a lot powerful even with a pillion. When I went back to my RC it felt weak. I realised its not that powerful. But it's definitely a lot more agile and responsive.

The only reason I wouldn't recommend the RC is the aggressive seating position. It definitely is not for the city riding. I bought it last year when I was 21. And then I wasn't fit or doing anything to keep myself fit. I felt a lot of strain on my back. So this bike demands you to be fit as well if you're mounting it. I used to feel I've made a very bad stubborn decision to buy the bike and I felt demotivated to drive it. Now I'm hitting the gym regularly and I don't feel the strain. My body got used to it and now I'm absolutely fine with city traffic. And now the bike is a delight every time I take it around for a spin. Even for 30+ kms in the traffic.

So all in all, if budget is the constraint, I'll say go for the R15 for its an absolute beauty and a wonderful machine if you want the faired ones. It goes faster than the RC btw. And if you promise yourself to keep fit and drive a little responsibly, the RC will be a very good choice. Consider duke as well. It isn't a big compromise at all.

I would add a suggestion too.

If you love full faired machines and need atleast a 200cc at the same time low on budget, and comfortable for city, test ride 2017 RS200, and see.
It realy gives that big bike feel, new colour options looks realy cool, you will get ABS although single channel its still is very useful.
Better F.E than KTMs.

The best thing about RS200 is its sound ,refinement.

At present 2017 RS200 is the most refined among Bajaj & KTM bikes.

Ride safe,
Cheers.

No, I mean the pillion seat of RCs are not really pillion friendly at all. The duke's one seem comfortable compared to RC.
I see girls trying to hang on for their lives on the RCs and R15 v2.0s pillion, its both funny and painful to watch.

So, plan accordingly.

Well, the RC pillion isn't that bad actually if you know "how to sit" - Click image for larger version

The hands should be on the tank when braking. Normally don't put the whole body weight on the tank, your arms will pain and the hands shouldn't be straight and elbows locked. NO!! The elbows should have a little bend to allow some "suspension" for vibrations and for god's sake please don't fall on the rider!! When accelerating, the pillion can hold the waist (if it doesn't tickle the rider) or the grab rails under the seat. It's absolutely safe and fine. The RC is way underrated for the pillion seat.

You as a rider should sit normally, thighs locked on the tank, however, DON'T ever "lock" your hands straight. The elbow must have a slight bend (else your shoulders will pain along with your wrist, elbows and palms).

Distribute your body weight among your feet, core muscles and upper body.

And legs - put the "ball" (the bone just below your toe) of your toes on the foot peg and sit like that unlike the "normal" way of putting your middle sole on the foot peg.

Get a pair of traction pads for your thighs on tank. Helps big time. Trust me. Got a pair and riding got so much easier.

To the guy who said the RC feels slow after riding Dominar - The Dominar will feel "more powerful" coz it is a 35HP machine vs a 25HP machine. C'mon. Please. It's a naked street fighter (looks kind of like the Diavel - personal opinion) vs a track bike. Both different engines with different purposes with different power outputs. Well, between Dominar and the RC - go for the RC and I agree with others, you MUST have some physical endurance and "know" how to sit on a "sports motorcycle".
