The front brakes locked up due to emergency braking.
Yours is just the naked trim so I presume everything is the same.
All N650 owners have moved to steel braided brake lines and Galfer pads IIRC. Sachinnair, please help.

This is a safety and life threatening issue and not something which can be overlooked especially in a bike which doesnt come with abs. IMO spending another 50k for steel braided lines and oem brake pads is not the correct solution for something which should be a part of the bike in the first place.

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
Agreed. That's why we've been asking for ABS since day 1 because braking on OE setup is inadequate. Also, the mod for better braking won't cost 50k man!

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
The Ninja 650 stock brakes are below expectations of many owners and let alone the service center mechanic, when this question was asked to the MD & Deputy MD of Kawasaki India in Annual meet they too had a similar response. They mentioned it is deliberately made spongy and as usual they remained mum on why ABS is not provided as an option.
So apart from the pointers mentioned by abhimanyu31 if you still face lack of confidence while braking, I suggest you to upgrade to aftermarket brake pads and steel braided brake lines. It does make a difference in braking compared to stock.

If they are not ready to make by bike safe or the brakes work as they should then I won't hesitate taking legal course..I had enough of their apathy towards me.
N650 brakes are below par no doubt, but my rear locks every time I brake hard...There is no happiness for him who does not travel!

Re: Kawasaki ER6N
Few basic things apart from visual inspection:
1. Air in the brake lines? Full bleed 3-4 times.
2. Maybe the pads have glazed! Sandpaper them with fine grit sandpaper. 1500 should do.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

So once back home took to service center to fix vibration in the fuel cap which crops up many times, they reassemble the cap and it vanishes.
Then they checked and tried fixing the brakes after which I got this response from the head mechanic that they are like that and nothing can be done about it and the only option is the well know change of brake lines and pads.when the entire universe including the engineers at kawa know this then why is nothing being done about it? Why dont they recall the bikes and fix it or is it again a matter of few thousands which the customer doesn't mind spending so why bother attitude.

Anyways, try the sandpaper thingy on the pads once. Zero feedback from the rear is very shocking IMHO.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
