Others, please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks a lot guys. It isn't mentioned in any of the reviews so I got a little confused. Thanks again.

        Happy biking!

The engine MIL light on the console also lights up not only when there is an issue with the FI system but also when certain other parameters/sensors are out of range/fail.
But what are the exact parameters of a FI system it monitors is anybody's guess. I've seen duke's that had fuel pumps replaced under warranty but never had the MIL light up.

The fuel pump sound you hear when u switch on the ignition only indicates that the fuel pump is receiving power and mechanically working, nothing else. Even a failing fuel pump will make that noise of priming fuel. don't link that to the 'engine' working.. a working fuel pump with a shot spark plug is not going to make your 'engine' work.

Is anybody facing issues with gearshifts or am I too spoilt with Karizma butter smooth gears? Especially finding neutral is soon becoming a task in hard traffic. I was curious if this is the case with NS as well.

BTW, 400 km done so far! Waiting to finish another 100 km, after which service --> then bye bye 4k run-in RPM limit...

                  Welcome to Bajaj.

That aside, Bajaj has come lightyears forward when it comes to gearbox considering their older gen crude Pulsar series, and the 220 set the first benchmark and had a much improved gearbox for what Pulsars had to offer. Now with improved know-how from KTM, they've even improved the gearbox slick-ability post NS series. And yes, even the NS users had the conundrum of finding neutral. Finding neutral in Pulsars and RE is an art of itself. Give it some more time to bed in as the components mesh and wear accordingly, you'll feel your gearbox getting smoother over time.

                  Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                  The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                  THE END

Finding neutral in Pulsars is an art. It is actually fun to do that. Shows you to be gentle with otherwise kicking feet/foot :P

Hehehe... At least I will have strong calf muscles. Actually, bigger issue is shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and finding neutral instead. I noticed that gear shift is a two stage process with two distinct sounds.

I hope this issue goes away with the first service.

please get the clutch setting checked and adjusted from the service center or do it yourself if you know how to.

Finding neutral and hard gear shifts are mostly due to wrong setting of the clutch cable and can be easily adjusted.

I own NS 2012 model. No issues with gear shifts n finding neutral.

Owned P200(old one) no issues with that bike as well.

I experienced hard gear shift for the first 100 km. After that it is really smooth. I'm able to shift into neutral more than 90% of the times at signals. By the way, running in is 2000km, not 450km/1st servicing :P

You are correct, the run-in period is 2000 km. I missed that in the Manual. I assumed that run-in period is till the first service. Is it so for all other bikes?

More wait till I can ride freely....

Haha! I changed to Motul 3100 20w50 at 250km and 800km. Will change to Motul 7100 at 2,500. Changed oil filter both times too.

Since I got home the new RS200, recurring conversation at home:

Wifey: "Please get bread and some vegetables from the store"

                                Me: "OK"

Wifey "PUT THE KEYS DOWN!!!! Grocery store is just outside building gate!!!"

                                Me: "ok"

Cant get enough of the lovely bike!
