  • Tik Tik Noise From Engine (Pulsar AS150)

    Hello Everyone,

I own a Pulsar AS150, ODO is around 14000KMS. From the day one I have been facing problems of Tik Tik noise from engine (Left side).

The ASC guys replaced my Engine Head, Tappets , Rocker Arms. But still der is little bit of noise. Recently I have done my bike service, replaced engine oil and did tappet settings.

The noise has still not gone. Please note, the noise comes when the engine heats ups and vanishes when the engine cools down. I am afraid if this will damage my engine.

Can you guys please suggest what it can be and what should be done ?

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Harshith Rao.

        • Re: Pulsar AS150 Mileage and Self Starting issues after second service

          Check the battery voltage reading

          Check the starter motor

Check the wiring - everything !

In this case if I am not wrong check the connection of the battery - may be the connection (- and + ) are loose and also check the voltage reading should be above 12V

Carburetor tuning of bajaj SVC is a JOKE . Show to other mechanic or DIY like I do (RE TB 350 owner) may be I can help you in tuning.

I have been an active visitor of this forum and got answers to most of my doubts. But, now I had to register myself to seek some help.

          Information about my bike:
I am from Chennai and I have a Pulsar AS150 which is 10 months old now. I have clocked about 7300 KM. I have not installed anything extra to it. First service was done at 700KM and second service at 4800KM.

          Issue:
The 2nd service was a disastor really. I have a couple of issues with my bike since then.

I used to get a mileage of around 45 KMPL. But after the 2nd service it has dropped to 32-33 KMPL. I reported it to the service centre where I gave my bike for servicing and they just did some carburettor tuning and asked me to check the mileage then. After a week's riding I didn't find any improvement. So, I went to the service centre again and the same thing was repeated for more than a month (at least 6-7 times). Then, I took my bike to another service centre and even they did some carburettor tuning. After that, for about 2 weeks, I got the mileage restored. Got close to 45 KMPL. But then again it dropped to the 30s. I took my bike to them one more time and the same thing happened. Mileage was restored initially and got dropped later.

My second problem is with the self starting.
My self start stopped working properly. When I press the self start button, engine doesn't start. The dashboard goes blank, time gets reset too (horn, indicator, lamp works well though). On reporting this issue, they have replaced the battery with a new one. After that I didn't have any problem with self starting. But now, about 2 months after replacing the battery, the same problem has started to occur.

I am going through so much of frustration just because of these problems. Please help me in sorting these issues out.

          Additional info:
Both the 1st and 2nd service was done at Khivraj Bajaj, Thiruvallur. Later I went to Jai Bajaj, Tambaram.

          Thanks,
          Praveen

            Hello Praveen,

As one of our friends said, the issue would be with the circuit and not the carburettor itself. Try getting your Electronic and electric crcuit checked by a pro, not the SVC guys. All the problems must be related to the ECU as far as I know. The ignition might be mistiming. Please let us know when the problem is solved.

                Hi,
Thanks for the reply. My bike still is in the service centre. No idea how long they would take to fix it. They said they have checked the circuit and have found no short circuits. They said the battery might have been a faulty one and so waiting to get the new battery. It's been over a week now. Seriously frustrated with the customer service of Bajaj.

                • Pulsar AS fairing removal and modification.

                  Hi Guys,

I am Ankit, I am currently living in Chennai. New to X-BHP. I'm not sure if this question is relevant here or not.

I have a Pulsar AS150, but I want to remove it's fairing and headlamp to install NS200 side tank covers and head lamp, to give it a naked bike look.

So it it possible to do such modification? and 2017-NS200 parts available? Also If possible where in Chennai I can have that or Shall I go to the authorized service dealers for that, bit I don't think they do any modification stuff apart from normal servicing.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

                  Thanks

My projector headlight stopped working a few days back..i want to get the bulb replaced. The service advisor quoted a price of 300 rupees which seems a little expensive for a single bulb. Can anyone tell me how much these bulbs cost and also suggest other compatible bulbs in the market which offer better visibility.
                      Thank you.
I don't know... Y ur service center told u the price of the bulb is 300 because when I changed it... It was only 160 for me.

Truly speaking I also face the same problem although my bike is now 1.5 years old. It went through a lot of AFR adjust and spark plug change.... BT at some moment I still feel the same problem.

Hey guys as I am not able to upload the video... So I sending u the screen shots... Can u tell me y my As150... Sometimes has startup issue like this... Specially when it's cold. When ever I push the ignition button.. the bike doesn't start and the dash board lights up and then gets blanked and then the dash board shows me these symbol and then gets blanked up again. This happens for couple of time and after sometimes it again works fine. The voltage of the battery is 13 and goes to 11 while using self start and while reving it goes to 14. So no battery issue as informed by the service center... More over they changed my spark plug BT the problem is still there and even checked the wiring of the bike.

Did anyone of u found the same problem. Plzz help me.

                            Hi Bro,

Just give the bike the Authorized service center and do not accept the bike till the wiring, battery and starter are replaced.

I did the same when my bike had the Tappet problem which was not getting resolved.

I dropped a mail to Bajaj and threatened to file a case in Consumer Court. You can also call the pune head office and try to get the number of Area Supervisor (Service) for your area.
