Vinbex, please check the following before making the plunge:
    1) is the bike registered or not
    2) Is the bike insured or not
    3) Any history of accidents
    4) since there was a recall, has the parts change of the recall done for this bike
If the bike isn’t registered then I am not sure if can buy a BS3 model now. Existing BS3 models that are registered with the RTO can be re-sold.

Yes. The pricing is speculative and so is the time frame!
Govt is planing to BAN all BS3 vehical by Jan - 2020 as by that time BS-6 will launch. Looking at Delhi's situation - it might be earlier. In short - it is not worth to buy 2.5-3L BS3 bike for merely 2 years!

Price is not speculative nor the Time frame.

Kindly quote the link from where you got this false news.

Regarding Delhi pollution, they are trying to bring BS6 vehicles to reduce pollution and banning vehicles which are 10 years old. Nowhere it’s mentioned that we will ban all BS3 vehicles.

            A clue to yamaha's R3 relaunch plans?

In September I had sent a letter to Yamaha India through their website asking about the relaunch plans. After waiting for a while without getting a reply I forgot all about it. But today found that Yamaha had actually replied and the mail unfortunately got buried in junk mail.

Anyhow on their mail from Sep 23, they said that that as of now Yamaha India does not have any updates regarding the re-launch of YZF-R3 with BS4.

            Though this
news is almost two months late, it does not seem like the company has much interest in pushing the R3. Which is funny because it is truly a perfect performance bike for Indian conditions.

Attaching a screenshot of their mail here:

I had sent them a mail last week inquiring the same and got a reply in two days with the exact same words!

As per most of the automob sites, new R3 will be launched in Jan/Feb 2018.

Did a complete coolant flush today with distilled water and vinegar. Then filled in EngineIce. Engine heat dissipiation is awesome. A whole lot better than Motul. Now fan stays on for just 10-15 secs max in B2B Bangalore traffic.

The New Apache 310 RR looks very impressive & getting positive raves all over!
I may mostly book this bike as I am sick of waiting for R3 with Yamaha India so lethargic in communicating its launch plans!

                          Hi Finney,

I don't if you remember or not but i had booked the R3 in Jan 2017 just before this BS 4 drama kicked in. I had cancelled the booking as could not deliver the blue silver model. Yamaha is the most irresponsible and unresponsive brand that I have ever come across. Nevertheless, I bought the Mojo and it's been almost a year that I have been riding the Mojo. I am happy. I can understand the fan following of Yamaha but the way they treat customers is pathetic. It's better to invest somewhere else.

Agree with you Adhip. Yamaha has a don't care attitude towards Indian customers & it really shows.
R3 was already selling in few numbers & now with Dominar and Apache 310 offering bang for the bucks, don't know if the new R3 will sell considering it will be priced 4L.
I have mostly decided on Apache 310, unless Yamaha launches R3 soon with a competitive price which is unlikely.

Why blame only yamaha? All Japanese manufacturers have this kind of attitude. And we have to again understand that CKD bikes can’t compete with locally manufactured bikes on price point.

                                Hi Chandan,

I blame Yamaha because I have experienced it. Don't know about other Japanese brands. If they behave the same way definitely they also deserve the same words. I will not comment about what I have not experienced. Plus you need to differentiate between price of a bike and customer treatment. Leave aside the bike, the price and it's capability. If you don't know how to deal with your customers then you should shut your shop and go home. Experience of buying a product is not limited to you giving the money and just getting the bike. It also includes service and maintenance. Idiolize brands/personalities but don't become blind. That's the whole point.
                                Regards,
