Re: Bike sub-model
That is the sub code for R3 for India. All bikes get a sub code(which is usually different in different countries) apart from the bike name itself and this is normally for internal usage and usually not known to the customer. The attached pic shows the code for 2016 model, which is 2YS1(This is from the part catalogue). S2-S3-S4 probably notes the year change of the bike.Originally posted by dhawz29 View PostHi guys,
My bike's sub-model code says '2YS3'. It's a 2018 BS4. What does yours say? Does anyone know how to read this code?
It's mentioned only on the insurance papers. I didn't find this on the bike itself or the RC.
Cheers!
The part code and main code for the R3 is 1WD, if it may help. This code is used right from the time the R3 was on the drawing table and is same worldwide.
I am surprised that this is included in your insurance as mine doesn’t have it, nor I have seen it in much of any R3’s insurance papers. But no harms done for it being there.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi,
I want to upgrade my headlight bulbs to LEDs. I heard philips ultinon led bulbs are bright and offer good visibility in the night. What size should I buy? H4 or H7? I am only looking for cosmetic upgrades and saddle stays for long trips once this COViD situation is better.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
The tires costed INR 4,080 for front and 5,807 for the rear. The tires have good grip and inspire confidence.Too soon to compare with the Metz. The Metz did approx 13000+ kms and started developing small inflation within the grooves in the rear tire hence, had to change them.Originally posted by Mr_Many_Places View PostHow much did they cost ? Initial impressions with respect to other tires you would have had would be great.

Hi just got the Apollo Alpha H1. Really good so far.Originally posted by Mr_Many_Places View PostI guess you can easily ride 2-3K kms more, just lookout for the tire wear indicator. Supply of Metz must be affected due to the logistical issues presented by COVID-19. You can try Pirelli Diablo Rosso (better than Metz) if you like a grippy feel, or you can put on the Michelin Pilot for longer life but less grippy than Pirelli's, your call. Both would cost around 12-14K INR.

Totally agree. The Pirelli Diablo Rosso 2 are better than Metz M5. They heat up faster and grip is incredible. I have had some occasions where the rear wheel spun on hard acceleration on the Metz. Never happened on the Diablo. Mileage is low but you can extract a lot of performance outta the R3 with these tyres.Originally posted by Mr_Many_Places View PostYou can try Pirelli Diablo Rosso (better than Metz) if you like a grippy feel

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi, a friend of mine needs to transport his R3 from Pune to Chandrapur (Maharashtra), he(is not in India at the moment) has asked me to transport the motorcycle to his hometown. I was hoping if you could suggest a reliable transport company which I should use to transport the motorcycle. Just want the motorcycle to reach safely without any damages.

Ouch. That hurts.Originally posted by K17 View PostThe Jap is not well!!!
My 2018 R3 ABS has an issue where coolant is mixing with the engine oil as you can see below. The bike has done a little over 13000 kms and about 2.4 years old. The parts getting replaced are
Gasket, Housing Cover 2 Item: 1WD-E2428-00-00
Impeller Shaft Assy Item: 1WD-E2450-00-00
Gasket, Crankcase Cover 2 Item: 1WD-E5461-00-00 INCL. IN CLUTCH KIT
Seal Item: 33S-E2223-00-00
If you order these online from the states this will cost around $150+
. Checked from the Yamaha Service Center at Monarch Yamaha in Pune and they had 2 parts in stock rest are being ordered from Thailand. The total cost of ordering parts from the showroom INR 2000
I blame 2020 and Yamaha for this...
Any reason how did this happen? Damage on the crank case and/or oil sump?
