Whitefield Yamaha has the black one in stock.
MT-03 is a nice bike take a test ride and then decide. R3 is also very versatile and the riding position is very good

Yeah will get the frame sliders and eventually an adjustable cluth lever. I'm not very happy with the cluth lever travel it seems to be too far out

I am also looking to purchase it and I am glad to know it''s readily available.
I am still going to wait for the Dec 19th announcement as I have a feeling that we might see the MT03 being launched.
I personally prefer the MT03 over the R3 as I feel it is more versatile.

How much did it cost on road? I am based out of Bengaluru as well and I was earlier talking to Pacer Yamaha.

Hey guys been over this thread several times in the last 6 months. First of all I would like to say the information here has been super helpful. I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy the current (2018) version of the Yamaha R3. I have bought the bike through the Whitefield Yamaha Showroom. The overall experience was good. They had both colors in stock and I decided to pick the blue one I have had it for a week now and done around 500km.

Reason to not wait for the 2019 version-
1. Would mostly come with a price hike. My budget was already a little stretched..
2. I really like the current dash with both analog and digital components.. To me the seeing the rev counter to a full sweep puts a wide smile on my face instantly
3. The upgrades were mostly cosmetic. The main reason to buy the R3 was the engine for me so the upgrades did not appeal much to me
4. I liked the ergonomics of the current version since I will use it for daily commute.

Reasons to not buy the other options -

1. BMW G310s, Apache RR301, Duke/RC 390, Honda CB300R -- Single cylinders. I already owned an RE Thunderbird did not want to spend so much for a single.
2. Benelli 300s - Reliability concerns and unstable brands
3. Kawasaki Ninja - I did not like the looks of the bike compared to the R3 (just my opinion). And the horror stories about expensive maintenance. Already having faced this with the RE I did not want to go through that pain again.

Review so far -
Everything that has been said in the other reviews is on point. I love the engine. The heating is well managed. The power is there whenever needed. Bike is not very flashy people who know about it recognise it others think it's an R15. Suspension is on point for Banglore not too hard not too soft. Brakes lack in bite but get the job done.

Few things I have observed - The cluth is on the tighter side and takes some getting used to. The bike does get vibes around 7k rpm but since the first service is not yet done I think these will fade away.

I do want help with a few things -
1. Please add me to the R3 owner's group for Banglore.
2. The run in instruction says stay below 7k rpm. I am currently keeping below 7k with rare and small bursts over it and mixing both aggressive and slow acceleration. If there are any tips regarding this please let me know.
3. Regarding accessories like frame sliders, tail tidy etc what is your take on them. And any suggestions on where to buy in Banglore.
4. Advice on preferred SVCs and general usage and maintenance of the machine.

WOW, thats a lot to look for! a very comprehensive list.

First thing first, always look out for intent of sale.
Is it rush sale or selling legitimately!

Coming to buy, loom out for physical appearance. Damages if any which can be seen through bare eyes.
Look under the side panels, near rear seat, near front indicators, near headlights.
Small/big falls sometimes create small cracks near headlight cavity.
Then check for clipon bar ends and levers. Hope they are not damaged.
Check for life of chain. Colour and length of existing chain. Loose chain or not properly lubed chain will have lesser teeth left to tighten(can see on swingarm end).
Then check for idling.
Hope it should idle at 1.5 to 1.7k RPM during cold start and around 1.4 to 1.5k RPM at warm start.
Check the exhaust note, it should not be rough and constant sound should be there.
If you can judge the valves are new just by riding few kms then it should be comforting for you to go ahead and buy.
A good run-in bike will still feel new at 4k kms age and valves should feel as new.
Throttle and clutch adjustment should be also tight.
Check for insurance status whether it is upto date and no claims been done and if done check for extent of damage.
Look out the metal discs front and back and even the rims.
R3 rims are more prone to slight bend, so look out for those bends.

I have found a second hand R3 for sale nearby.
The bike has 4k kms under it and is probably a year old.

What are the things I need to check for if I am going for a second hand r3?
I was looking for basic information like services done, did the rider follow a run-in process and condition of engine wrt NVH.

Anything else I would have to look at?

The 1st Gen R3 was 3.25 L. BS4 was 3.48 L with ABS. So I guess between 5-10% hike for sure for the BS6.

How much would the hike be anyway, 5-10k for a bike that 4.4 on road is not a big deal truly?

and even in the current R3 there is not a lot of localization, i doubt they will play around with USD as that would need further R&D costs etc.
If it's going to be the new model as is, my time is running out to get the current R3 as i want a daily friendly bike, not an enthusiastic track friendly one.

I think the price may increase for BS6. It will be interesting to see if India gets the USD forks. So far Yamaha has not provided this on the R15 and MT15. I feel they will omit it.

The new R3 definitely has a bit more sporty ergonomics compared to the previous gen R3, N300 and N400. All reviewers have said this.

I waited for MT03 and then got R3 [emoji52]

I do not want a dedicated position bike.

But then, if they are releasing the MT03, my god, would it be good that I hadnt bought so far
