It looks like your bike was in a stock yard for a long time. And that is why you feel this way.
As far as I know, Bikes kept on Display are not started or revved up for visiting potential customers.
A registered test ride bike is kept for this purpose.
R3 has very precise gear shifts. I learned this when I rode KTM Duke. After riding KTM I realized what a gem of a machine I've got at my hand.
Your bike is new, it will have a bit of vibration at certain RPM but this is not the kind of vibration that would cause numbness of hands and so on. From all the R3 owners that I've spoken to, R3 has mild vibrations at two different RPM ranges. Anywhere else, no vibration.
If you are not riding the Bike currently, do try to start the engine and let it idle in neutral for 4-5 minutes till the coolant heat level reaches 2 bars. Do this at least once a week if the bike is to be kept in the garage for a long time.

Every bike vibrates. That being said there are a lot of panels on R3 that are interconnected and have rubberized bushes. However, the panels are designed to take vibrations but not pass them on to the screws holding them. In other words, there are latches holding the panels together and not the screws. The screws act like locks to keep the panels from disengaging from the latches. R3 in the international market also has the same build quality.
I've had screws coming off on my TVS ntorq like no mans business but never on my R3 which is now 4 years old.
The people who generally review bikes on YouTube don't own the bike and will say anything to get more subscribers.
Always ask the opinion of an owner who has tried to do maintenance of the bike on their own.

I had that feeling because they gave me a test ride of a black R3 , that was on Display.
It did not have a temp reg/marked for test ride.
I made a mistake by not noting the chassis number then as that could have helped me not get the same bike.

The store manager had switched on the bike and revved it in front of me, this was a blue display bike.
Hence the doubt.

That said, I have seen a lot of videos on the net lately that seem to suggest the way we run-in doesnt have long lasting effects as long as we make sure to hit all the RPM's prescribed. This was a motorcyclist magazine video comparing the two different run-in methods.

And thanks for the advice on the usage of bike, I am yet to take it out, so will make sure it reaches 2 coolant bars today.
Will hopefully start riding next week !

SO, I got the delivery of my R3 on Dec 28th ! I got the Matt Black version.
Got the delivery from Perfect Riders, Jayanagar.

It felt like the bike was not washed, there was literally dust all over the seat.
And a feeling of dread, I felt like I was given the bike that was on display when I first went.

Which meant that, whenever they were showcasing the bike, they were cranking the accelerator like there is no tomorrrow !
Had to stop him when he displayed this to me the first time, he cranked it all the way to 5k rpm from a cold start so that "I could feel the engine"!!!

Further issues in the PDI, they were impatient with my checklist and the items I was checking.
no comments on asking them to open and show the oil/liquid levels. Got only 3l of petrol too, barely.

Luckily, went to the petrol pump nearby, and that's where Blackthorn's PDI list came handy

The tyre pressure was 11 on both wheels!!! vs. a recommended f 29 and 33.

I then got a long ride back home in the fantastic Bengaluru mid day traffic.
Had to navigate through traffic.


But an injury while playing football means I haven't touched the bike since! :|

The only things that concern me are the build quality... specifically the plastics near the tank and rear seat...I mean from a few reviews I've watched they have all told the build quality isn't necessarily top notch like there is legit squeaking noises when you press on it and the rear seat even after being fitted on kinda wiggles around if you try to move it...I'm especially concerned about the because at a point the R15 v3 had major build quality issues where even the panels came off at some places...so any existing r3 owners who've had the bike for a long time please shed some light on my concerns..it would be greatly appreciated [emoji120]

As far as discounts go I got a 5k discount which made the on road price to 4.35 got tank pad, coating and a bike cover along with it too.

My bike was also a bit harsh. I stopped using Yamalube oil and switched to Motul 7100. Makes a significant difference.

I've never had false neutrals. The only minor niggle I have sometimes is while up-shifting from 1 to 2. It would sit on N. But not false neutrals. I think these minor things may go away after the 1st service.

I have removed my R3 sticker from the bike to avoid unwanted attention and harassment. Lots of squids wanna race and they keep cutting you on road. I faced this a lot with TNT300. Still happens with R3 too. But many think it's a V3. BS6 V3 now comes with blue wheels. Will blend in.

Congratulations Ram. I totally hear you on the post delivery drama that happens once the check is signed, and the fist clenching, jaw gnashing that goes along.


Don't worry about the misshifts, heat, notchy gearshifts. In a couple of thousand kays, the engine will slowly open up, and post oil changes you will feel the bike significantly better than prior services.

Congratulations on your new ride. Do you mind sharing which month is your bike manufactured. I am contemplating purchasing R3. Dealer here in delhi has told that it will be Sep'19 manufactured. Did you get any discounts?

Few observations, i felt the clutch is rather not stiff for a bike that doesnt have a slipper clutch, definitely alright to be using it for 30m of slow moving traffic.
That said, my bike has a lot of vibrations, I can feel it all the way up to 3rd gear.

There also seems to be quite a "click" when the gear engages (after i release the clutch lever).
hope these 2 issues get resolved after the first service.

The bike itself is a hoot, and I get so much attention on the streets (I dont prefer this, but its nice to get a "OH!" look from the ones that know the bike).

Had 3 false neutrals within like 5 minutes after i had ridden in the traffic for 45 minutes. The engine heat does pilfer a lot to your legs.
