Which ever bikes comes or goes, one thing is clear , if any one wants a twin cylinder sports bike [call it tourer/racer] now has only one option that is this new R3, never consider Benelli or even Kawasaki [300/400] if any one has right sense of what is he getting for right money. it won't change even after another 2-3 years , as i don't think any new player going to enter twin cylinder bike with 250-350cc segment.

similarly if someone looking for single cylinder sport bike [tourer/racer] then its already here in Apache310 form, this situation also not gonna change in near future.

so choose your priorities and get single or twin , there is no point in comparing any bike now.

PS: referring to 250-300cc faired bikes

Now the greed in me is thinking if the ABS unit can be fitted in older model and for how much more? If anyone finds an answer to this please share.

I just hope that the so many people who have been asking about the R3 relaunch for the past 9 months are still in the market for a bike...it will be sad if buyers have moved on to other bikes...
But I would still say that the wait is worth it...because even though its been mentioned n number of times in this forum and others that if and when the R3 comes with ABS then the price will be too high...Yamaha have priced the new R3 very sensibly...Both ABS and Metz tyres with only a 20k price hike is reasonable.

Please correct me if I am wrong..but in this segment this perhaps is the only genuine 190 Kmph bike.

I wonder if they have considered the 5% hike in import duties government has said in their budget. If not then this price may increase in the near future?

retro fitting of ABS, if possible at all would be prohibitively expensive. Users of other bikes which have ABS / Non -ABS versions like the CBR250R also have this desire at some time or the other but costs are too high..

I just googled for after market ABS for R3 and came across this link

It all boils down to if the ECU is the same one with the connectors present then probably the parts can be fitted..otherwise we have to replace the ECU, wiring harness and the brake actuators..also the optical disks on the brake rotors..

I have booked the new R3 today (at Pacer Yamaha, Bangalore).
Delivery expected in a month's time, around March second week.

OTR price is yet to be finalised, expected to be around 4.4/4.5 lacs.

Congratulations !....now the wait starts ! ! !please keep us updated on your pre-delivery preparations....when I had booked the bike I spent the time in going through the YT Videos and the accessories page on Aliexpress...The R25 accessories are a perfect fit for the R3..I ended up ordering up quite a few things and some of them actually reached me before the bike...even though they were shipped from china

Booked the bike at Bangalore wheels. I was told that I can select the colour at the time of delivery. Deliveries expected to start in first or second week of March. On road price is not yet finalised it seems and could be around 4.4L. This particular dealership has exchange option.

The wait begins.
