the scooter I got for test ride had loose front brake too. The front lever lacked feel. The showroom guy tightened it when i spotted it. The integrated braking worked well even when the front was loose. After tightening, the independent front brake worked well and integrated braking system was right on point.

No hurry, take your time to get pics and please keep the thread updated on changes you make to the scooter and mileage. Hope you're still getting a mileage above 45 kmpl. That's pretty much what 125 cc scooters report too. So I'm in a confusion whether I should go for this or a 125 cc scooter. I do not know the people who own this scooter personally so I cant comment on their handling and ownership. I would like to believe that the minor problems are because of this difference in ownership and handling and are not present in the scooter inherently.
Tightened the brakes yesterday and now the breaking is great. Didn't fiddle with engine timing etc since for short hauls up to 5-10km of city ride, which is the current use, it's fine.
Also today went to an empty stretch of road to check top speed. I could hit 80 without any problems except I ran out of empty road. The engine was smooth all the way up to 80. The only annoying vibrations are present about 50kmph only. The acceleration was almost linear. Scooter was stable at this high speed.
    Here are some pics.

scooter looks slick. Thanks for the pics. I can see the plastic has whitened at the handlebar area. Also my heart cringes whenever i see the steel guards urgh xP apart from these two the scooter looks new.

I find it very similar to activa and i just wanna ask why go with what everyone likes!!!!

The panels seem to be solidly put together too. Happy riding and please update mileage next time!

        Update: Rainy ride and mileage
Getting mileage of about 45kmpl for city riding. Don't have highway use case.

Recently rode about 30km in night with heavy rain. Found tires wobbling on the slick road. Also headlamp light is really puny. Can't see shit in the rain - especially on city roads where there are so many reflections. Going to have to get a better bulb. Thankfully brakes worked fine. The scooter has an annoying habit where horn connection loosens and fails out. Happened second time in three months. Going to have to put some sticky tape in there.

Went to Pavana Dam for a rainy ride. It was a solo ride with light to no rain. The road was mixed - at places really great but there were patches with bad road. The duet handled everything well. I travelled about 95km and incidentally crossed 4K on the odo too.
Engine and breaking was good. Tyres held on well, but I did not push them any hard, since going solo I had to be careful. The vibes at 50kmph mark are still there though below that around 40kmph bike feels like makkhan. Not much chance to go above 50 sadly, bug the next day I got about 40km of highway riding and I was doing 60-70 all the while with pillion. Bike was quite stable except for bit of region with high wind gusts. Great fun!!
On comfort side, even after riding for almost 100km in quite spirited fashion, I did not feel any discomfort. That's good on the suspension. So that's all for my latest drive report.
          Cheers,
          Ride safe!!

Hello, sorry for the late reply. I am doing good. Hope the same with you. The Duet is nearing 15,000 kms. The engine is smooth. Returns a mileage of 53 kmpl. Checked it multiple times by full-tank to reserve method. There are a few niggles too. The rear tire has 2 big cuts and it has to be inflated once in every 3 days. Thinking to put a tube in it and use it like a normal tube-tire. The seat is not locking. The cable which operates the lock has to be changed. Once, the fuel lid broke. Hero showroom denied to change that it warranty. So bought it from hero spare dealer and replaced it.

Verdict: The scooter is reliable. It does 330 kms on every alternate weekends. Hero service is completely unreliable. Better service it from your mechanic.

I have so far serviced our Duet from two svc in pune. Pratibha Motors, Thergaon - pathetic service and mechanics with little to no knowledge of vehicle. One service there and one warranty call regarding leaking front fork seals.
Other svc is Sehgal Auto riders, Pimpri. One service and warranty call for front fork seals. Service was prompt and response was good. In fact after handling the bike it felt like it's actually been serviced!

Our duet has done over 15,100 kms. Serviced the scooter yesterday. Only 5 free services were used. 1 free service is remaining. The scooter shall be never ever serviced in the hero showroom again. So, this time Duet was given to our mechanic for servicing. Oil was replaced by Veedol 10w 30. Idling was adjusted and carburetor was tuned. It is very much smoother now. The rear tire was replaced with a CEAT tubeless. The stock one had 2 long hairline cuts. I noted these cuts in the very first month itself. The seat lock cable could not be bought as it was out of stock. It was not even available in SOUTHERN HERO, one the biggest hero spare stockist in Tamil Nadu.It would be better if hero sells spares through it's website.

The ride quality is great. It is getting smoother and smoother.

Duet has done 16,000 kms. The seat lock cable was replaced. Now the seat locks properly. It was really a hectic job to replace the cable. The whole front portion, floor portion and the seat portion was removed and fit back. It took 1.5 hours to do the job.

Bro, long-term reliability of duet seems to be good. The BS-4 model is even more smoother it seems. Hero seems to have done good job on their first indigenous engine.
Happy mile munching bro. Ride safe & keep us updated about longevity of your duet scooter[emoji4]

Our Duet has done 6000km now. From last servicing at 3500km till now no big problems so far. The blinker has gone silent but that's just a minor snag. Rode about 30km of really bad hilly terrain road a fortnight ago with pillion but the scoot was able to handle it without any problem. Looking towards 10k mark and if the vibes at 50+ speeds vanish then.

Thanks man. The scooter is indeed very smooth to ride. It constantly delivers 53 kmpl at present. It has crossed 17,000 kms on the odo too.

Bhai need advice and info is the key on duet is immobilizer one or normal one . As the one on Maestro is immobilizer one.
I am seriously considering duet or maestro just stuck between metal and plastic body thing.
Looking to upgrade from my 9year old activa. And want something reliable and little fun as for more fun i have a bike.

                          Thanks in Advance.

Our duet (2015 model) has not got the immobilizer. Not aware of the present BS-4 ones.

I can't comment about the Maestro Edge, because I haven't ridden it. But certainly it is bigger than the Duet. Our Duet has clocked more than 18,000 kms and running fine. Only small niggles since it was from the very first batch. Take a test ride of both the machines and decide.
