As mentioned in the previous posts, i had filled 4L of petrol when the bike hit reserve at 180 km. and now at 408 it again went into reserve. (408-180= 228 km in 4L of petrol gives an average of 57 kmpl). Now this is really really sad. I bought this bike thinking of atleast getting in excess of 70 kmpl average. I drive carefully, not going over 40 kmph as mentioned. No rash driving.

Any ideas or comments or suggestions are welcome to give me what is going wrong with the bike.

Well, I got disappointed too. I got mileage of 65 and that too on weekend when there is not much crowded traffic. Last month I rode it only in B2B (bumper-2-bumper) traffic at peak traffic time here in Hyderabad and noticed very less mileage (by guess, I think it was around 50). Check my review after 2nd service above.

I ride at 40-45 and that 65 mileage is calculate at that. Do you clean & lube your chain every 500 km. How do you take care of your bike ?

          Hi Arnuld and deep007,

I called up the service center for my first service on December 1 (the bike being bought on 21 October). They said they have a prebooking for servicing the bikes 7 days in advance. Now i am in a fix. the date they are giving me is December 9 by which time my 45 days are over. Please advise.

And yes, I am still getting mileage of 56-58. Also which engine oil would u be recommending? the Bajaj's one or some other? pls advise.

Dude, first fix that damn service appointment. Since bike is new, in the first few hundred kilometres engine loses metal and many tiny parts released get mixed in engine oil. You need to change the engine oil ASAP. Many bikers in other countries change tho engine oil at 100 km because of the metal loss and mixed but they do the service as required by the manual.

I don't think 45 days period is mandatory, its about 500-750 km range where it should be serviced. I took it to service when it hit 750 km (I bought all accessories from Bajaj itself & tank-cover mentions all the service range in km), I remember it was 23 days when I hit 750 km. Go and talk to them about your situation and get it serviced ASAP. I wonder where is this service centre that they are so busy. I gave my bike here in Hyderabad at 11 AM and it was ready by 6 PM. What is your location ?

You have to use Bajaj engine oil (10W30 for CT100B) else you will lose warranty. From what I searched here Bajaj oil is not that good in quality and you get better oils at same price but what to do, I took 2 years extended warranty.

              Hi Arnuld,

The service center which was way busy is located at Lower Parel (mumbai). I took the bike today to another service center which is about 21 km away from my place at 2 pm. Gave over the bike to them and they gave an estimated Rs. 430 as charges and yes they took the bike in as for First service. I will get my bike back tomorrow (12/06/2016) since it was afternoon by the time i reached ASC. I know the bike has a 2 year warranty, did u mean you took another 2 year extended warranty? i.e. 4 years in total. I am thinking about next time going to my FNG if the service center is going to charge 430 every time for the free services. Ur advises really are helpful.

              thanks.

Good you gave for service. They do charge 430/- in Hyderabad but 370/- is for Engine Oil change. Free means free service from service center, not free Engine Oil. Though they still charge 60/- for dusting, brake tightening etc. Make sure you ask for bill. Look at my bill down here. Something wrong with xbhp ttachment settings, it messes up the pic's dimensions. Try reading the bill breakup.

It is 2 years warranty in total. Bajaj gives only 1 year warranty, dealer was offering extra 1 year for some small amount, so I took it but he did not tell me the condition at that time that you can only use Bajaj Engine Oil. They only told me when I told them that I will bring the new oil myself. They said I can't.

Whatever mileage you are getting, you fill petrol for 500/- then forget for a month. That is how much satisfaction I have at least.

Thanks for the prompt reply Arnuld.

Yes, i will ask and insist for the bill tomorrow when i go to the ASC. As far as i have read, Bajaj CT100b has a 2 year warranty by default.

Also, i too am the same person (fill with rs 500 petrol and forget for a month) and for that very same reason bought this bike. ASC person told me the mileage will increase after the first service when i complained to him about the mileage being too low (56 kmpl). Lets see what happens next.

Bajaj CT100B has 1 year warranty by default and its price is 32,218/- (that includes accessories & VAT). Add 1200 for insurance and 3500 approx. for road tax and 1100/- for extended 1 year warranty + more accessories and its price reaches 38,430/-. That is how they calculated when I went to buy. Check the receipt and the bill at bottom. Pics are not clear, bear with my cheap 4G mobile

Tell him it goes up after 1st service and comes down on 2nd service

I have changed my engine oil at 300 km from outside and did first service at 740km again changed engine oil.
For mileage you have to be careful like not giving extra throttle for fun. I ride mostly on the highway that time at 40kmph.it can give you overall 65kmpl.

                        Dear Arnuld and Deep007:

Got my bike back from the ASC after the first service around 4 pm today. Bike overall felt smooth on ride. I was charged Rs. 390/- for engine oil change (Bajaj 20W40 oil). I have seen Pictures of Arnuld's bike. How do you keep it so clean any shiny all the time? Do you water wash it daily? I heard water washing daily is not good for bike.

Also I filled the bike today with Rs. 500/- petrol (around 7 liters) and will let you know when my bike next hit reserve.

1st, thanks for the compliment . I just clean it with wet cloth 2-3 times a week. Never did water washing (except when given to service).

2nd, manual says 10w30 oil. I wonder why you are using 20w40. Heck I did not even what oil my service guys put, I will ask them. I just assumed they use according to manual.

3rd, Bike always feels smooth after service. I think its engine oil. Make sure you change engine oil by 3000 km.

                            Hi everyone,

It has been 2 weeks since my bike came from the service. Everything is doing fine with the bike except that in the past 5-6 days i have noticed that when starting the bike in the morning, it is at least taking 10-12 kicks to start the bike. Earlier on, a couple of kicks were enough to start the bike. I m not sure if its the winter that is playing in. Anyone else facing similar problems?

Once it starts after 10-12 kicks, it then works fine.

                            thanks in advance.

I used the choke, but still it is sometimes taking upto 10-12 kicks to start. It is not that this happens only in the mornings. It randomly occurs anytime of the day. Also even after the first service, the bike is only giving me a mileage of 58 kmpl. I am highly dejected. I was atleast expecting mileage in upwards of 70+ kmpl. Ran the bike on highway at consistent speed (50 kmph) for like 160 kilometers, and still got the mileage of 58 kmpl.

Please tell me guys what to do?

                                I am Highly disappointed.

Also, as of today Jan 4, 2017, i have noted that the bike stalls all of a sudden at idling speed (in neutral) while waiting at the signal. Have to kick in atleast 15-20 times for the bike to start. Choke does not do any help. On kicking the bike, it makes a sound like a blast (phuck sound). I am now literally having a headache with this bike. Sometimes it start on just 1 simple kick, other times it makes me cry (leave alone the poor mileage issue as mentioned above). Please tell me what to do. It is pissing me off now
