I don't want to be part of the story where showrooms cons innocent customers [emoji28]
Check the vin number on the bike. You can decode it to see the month and year of manufacturing. Anything after Jan manufacturing would be bs 4 I suppose. Google the vin decoder.

To spare you all the trouble of going and having things checked, using the tubular spanner remove your spark plug and check it. It should and will be brownish in colour at its terminals. If coal black, then your mixture has been rich, if silvery white then your mixture has been lean. You may also choose to clean the plug and recheck after a few rides, without changing carburettor settings in between the two spark plug checks.
It's never wrong to check the possible causes for a symptom. After all you learn something, even if it wasn't the case. You make a good point about the fuel vaporising. That could be a potential loss.

I don't know about recent Chassis or Engine Nos. simplygmail or prashant may be able to elaborate whether they come in month and year format in Bajaj. But my bike doesn't have that sequence. Also kindly provide a link for VIN decoder for two wheelers in India. As the decoder isn't universal or reliable for India.

I agree that checking possible causes for a symptom is the right approach. However in his case, I said it will be clean because his bike is new and has been recently serviced and I don't expect that his air filter would clog that bad in 1000kms. Thanks (ref. Fuel vapour)

You can check it here. Plus if you look up on Internet, you will find lots of resources. Decoding vin number is the most reliable way to check. India has to have a universal decoding way, otherwise it is just stupid in the first place to have it. It's just that with Internet all kinds of wrong and erroneous decoding ways comes which confuses some.

When your 100cc bikes starts to give mileage of 40 it's better to check even your seats lol. My gixxer gives better mileage than 40. So it's better to check everything in case of such situations rather than presume..

The engine now does stop at signal stop at neutral (read my previous post where the engine used to stop when in neutral every damn time). Please let me know if i have done the correct carbrettor setting.
That's not the way you tune a carb. Please refrain from fiddling with it since it will mostly end up in a disaster.
Go to your service center and ask them to set it back to factory setting (maybe check with another ct100). An experienced mechanic should be able to set it up correctly, if not check another ct100 and copy the setting for the number of turns of the mixture screw and then adjust the idle screw to ensure it idles at spec.
And are you sure there is no petrol being stolen from your bike ?

Agree with s1d, about not fiddling with the carburettor settings and consideration of petrol being stolen needs to be kept in mind, as even with petrol lock, keys are fairly common.

Lolz Pique242. Yeah. He should check his seat.

There's nothing wrong with fiddling with carburettor it will only help you learn things, nothing disastrous can happen..And you make a good point in last, that's quite possible too..hehe..

Hahahaa.. But that's temporary.. If you learn why it gave 40 kmpl then you would be able to learn at least how not to do it. A scientist was asked (I don't remember the name) after his 1000s of unsuccessful attempts, "what have you learnt after so many failures?" The scientist said, "he learnt 1000 ways of how not to do it." One can't learn if one doesn't fiddles with it..

Thomas Edison. Unlikely that ASC guys will teach you and even unlikelier that you fiddle with your carburettor and they will repeatedly mend it for you.

I am one of those to tinker and play with bikes. Each to its own.

I have queries regarding platina tubeless tyres. You can give your suggestions in this thread:

Latest update: The recent tuning has resulted in a mileage of 79+kmpl in 2 successive readings.
