Re: Bajaj CT100B
I think this bike must have been bs4 compliant since beginning because it gives such high mileage. I could be wrong. But bs norms are to control emissions from exhaust, which I think must have been already under bs4 limits. Someone with more knowledge on subject please correct me.Originally posted by Rahul_Seeker View PostAll Bajaj bikes are BSIV compliant since mid January. But availability is an issue. I think showrooms are busy clearing their old stock.
P.S. I checked with their showroom they don't have test ride vehicle..

Rule was that all new models which are launched after 31st March 2016 should comply with BSIV norms and all the existing models should be BSIV ready by 31st March 2017.Originally posted by Pique242 View PostI think this bike must have been bs4 compliant since beginning because it gives such high mileage. I read somewhere that BSIV has nothing to do with improving the mileage. They just use higher technology in silencer therfore reduction of 80% in pollutant particles.
Bajaj says they tweaked ct100b engine and shed some kilos of the bike to improve the mileage.

Re: Bajaj CT100B
Since I last updated the post on the mileage frustration of the Ct100b, now is the latest update on it. I filled in the petrol when the bike hit reserve at 1176 km with 10.3 liters of petrol (full tank) and 2 days ago, the bike again hit reserve at 1586 km. A total of 410 km was covered which gives an abysmal average of 40 km. I am at the ends of my wits and pulling my hair off. Indeed i dont know what to do next...
Please help.

Check carburettor tuning. To check if you're running rich, turn on the bike and check for black smoke from exhaust. Check your air filter too. If you don't see black smoke then try rev up the engine slowly (on neutral of courseOriginally posted by SimpleGmail View PostSince I last updated the post on the mileage frustration of the Ct100b, now is the latest update on it. ) and check a exhaust for black smoke. Make sure your carburettor is clean, spark plug is not worn out, engine oil is not old and lastly the air filter.

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I have bought my bike on Oct 21, 2016. It is just 4 months old. No black smoke or fumes are emitted. Carburettor is clean. Engine oil was changed in first service at 530 km (now the bike has reached 1560 km).
Today i have tuned the carburettor. Way of tuning : Have adjusted the fixed screw upto the point where the engine is roaring high and adjust the mixture screw to the point at which the roaring of the engine has settled to purring. The engine now does stop at signal stop at neutral (read my previous post where the engine used to stop when in neutral every damn time). Please let me know if i have done the correct carbrettor setting.

Every bike is different for carb tuning. Take it to your service center. Catch one mechanic and tell him to do the carb tuning real quick in front of you. Don't get into depositing the bike and stuff. I had initial issues like this on my Suzuki gixxer, I got it adjusted from the mechanic and learnt it myself too. Mileage came back up to 45.Originally posted by SimpleGmail View PostHi

P.S. A clogged air filter can also lead to low mileage. Get it checked too.

Re: Bajaj CT100B
The method you have stated is the method used by Bajaj ASC, Parel. If the strokes are evenly spaced i.e. regular, then correct and optimum settings have been achieved. 2nd and most important, do not fill your bike with 10 litres of petrol. It vaporises very fast and your mileage drops. Fill it up with not more than 2.5L above reserve, and revert with your achieved mileage, I am sure it will be higher, even if you hadn't tuned it.Originally posted by SimpleGmail View PostSince I last updated the post on the mileage frustration of the Ct100b, now is the latest update on it. Re: Bajaj CT100B
Your air filter is clean as well. Do not worry about your oil either. Conventionally you have about 2000kms before change is required and about 4000kms as per Bajaj CT100 manual.Originally posted by SimpleGmail View PostThanks once again for your reply. To spare you all the trouble of going and having things checked, using the tubular spanner remove your spark plug and check it. It should and will be brownish in colour at its terminals. If coal black, then your mixture has been rich, if silvery white then your mixture has been lean. You may also choose to clean the plug and recheck after a few rides, without changing carburettor settings in between the two spark plug checks.

Re: Bajaj CT100B
Rahul has answered this well. However to add on to that, Old stocks would persist and be sold at dealerships in this period upto March end. Hence to avoid this confusion of whether the bike is infact BSIV or not, if possible, wait till after April this year.Originally posted by Pique242 View PostI think this bike must have been bs4 compliant since beginning because it gives such high mileage. Re: Bajaj CT100B
The BSIV compliant motorcycles from Bajaj come with a BSIV compliant sticker on the engine. This is how you will be able to identify them.Originally posted by Rahul_Seeker View PostI'll buy platina in March. How can i make sure that the bike I'm buying is BSIV variant?
