I own a apache rtr 200, finished 19k kilometres.

I am recently facing a few issues with my bike.

First of all, I notice that when I drive through very crowded areas(jam packed traffic) my engine heats up a lot and idle RPM reduces below 1k and if I let go of the throttle the engine stalls in 2-3 seconds.

I have noticed in my bike that when the engine is cool, the idle RPM is higher and as a ride and the engine heats up, the idle RPM goes down.

Sometimes my bike doesn’t start when I put the fuel valve in ON position, even though there is a lot of petrol. When I switch to reserve the engine starts.

Other problems are:

1.There a lot of Vibrations in my bike at 5k+ rpm

2.The digital console Clock resets very often, and during the past 2-3 days it resets every 2-5 minutes while driving. When my bike is running the digital console shuts down for a second and then starts up again just like when we put the key into ignition.


3.The Gear shaft of my bike has gotten very hard, giving me a hard time shifting gears. The real problem arrives when my bike is idle and I want to switch to neutral gear from the 1st gear. No matter how hard a push the gear lever it won’t go into neutral. Sometime I am afraid I might break the gear lever by applying so much force. To switch to neutral I have to set the bike in motion by releasing the clutch a little and then only I can engage neutral. And switching gears while riding on higher rpms give me ‘khat khat’ sound.

4.My AFR screw is jammed. What should I do about this.


Please help me identify the problems why these things are occurring and how do I solve them

Can a sprocket worn out within 8k Kms? I don't think so.

I got the oil from a retailer near my location.

Thanks Ashwin. But is there any way to check if the 1.2 litres of oil is filled? . As far the brake is concerned, I get only mild screem which can be ignored. But I a afraid to touch it as they might mess it up.

I am planning to request them if I can be nearer to the bike while filling the Oil.

Finally you had got the attachment, fine.

I also have given my bike for express service twice. One thing I noticed is that these ASC guys are irresponsible and work for the name sake.(Not blaming all ASCs).


Okay I hope there will be a waiting room available, you can just wait and see whether the service is done properly or not.
* Check whether they're filling 1200 ml of oil lol because Infront of me one fellows bike was filled with 1000 ml oil instead of 1200 ml.
*Ask to do a BRAKE service. (Opening the brake cylinder, cleaning the brake pads and pressure wash)
Apart from if there's any complaint you can mention .

If your sprocket is totally worned out then you should replace it with a new one.The chain noise you referred might arise if the chain is not lubed or a dry chain.



And Where you bought the oil MOTUL?

It's just marketing gimmicks ,I hope so. Anyhow the recommended grade may be 10w30 but I am sure 20w50 won't create any hazzle buddy.


I've finished 1000+ Kms as of now and I didn't find any problems still now.

(P.S) Apart from the mentioned Grade other grades 10w30, 40,50 will also works fine but somehow I've choosen this let's see,how far it goes.

Yes the stock remora tyres offer somehow manageable grip during dry conditions but it doesn't provide the same satisfaction in wet conditions!!!

I managed not to slide off/fell down in corners/blind turns as I was using the front brake more often. Anyhow one thing I've noticed clearly is these stock tyres lose grip especially when riding through sand/gravel !!!

I felt like the rear tyre jerks off as happens in the MotoGP lol!!!

Can someone say which is the best tyre offering superior dry and wet grip ??

With the Engine oil change, get the oil filter changed too.

Finally fitted the Ladies foot rest from a local shop as there was no stock in Brilliant TVS.

First service is due now. Booked appointment for Friday as express service. Below will be carried out.

1. Change the Oil (Synthetic)
2. water wash
3. Lube the chain.

Is there anything else apart from the above?.

Well for rider it's quite comfortable, But for the pillion the seat doesn't look comfortable especially for elderly ladies.

I rode the said bike once for like a km it didn't feel uncomfortable I would get a better idea of that guy would let me ride for longer distances. How comfortable would you say the bike is for you and for a pillion? And thank you for the prompt response

Based on my the experience from my bike which clocked 8k kms:
1) The suspension is on the softer side for apache 200, whereas NS 200 have a stiffer one.
2) cold starting problems happens in every carburetted bikes, Use choke only if necessary and Keep the engine idle for 2 mins during rainy seasons.
3) Maintenance cost maybe low, but its too early for me to say, since I have clocked only 8k odo.
Anyways have ride at the bike and make your decisions. I can only share my experience...

Hi, I am considering buying an rtr200 it has 14k on the odo and is in good condition with extended warranty for this year. I have a couple questions before I go ahead and get the bike. First, how is the comfort on the bike as this is my main concern I was previously looking at the ns but every bump or pothole was felt and the rear suspension felt too stiff. Is the rtr better in terms of rear suspension and to what extent is the comfort. Second thing I'd like to know is that a lot of sources say the bike cannot start without choke in the morning, is this a flaw and anything to be concerned about? I am curious how much difference in maintainance cost would it be compared to say fzs? Thanks in advance

4 months ago While lubricating my chain with a brush, the brush got stuck along the chain and the chain got removed. After fixing it by local mechanic, It got repaired. But after the completion of 4th service I got an annoying sound in my chain. When I asked the local mechanic, he said that ASC can replace the new sprocket of your bike with the old worn out of the another one in the service.
What I am trying to ask is "was the mechanic said is true or The sound comes because of the chain damaged due to lubrication?"
Someone please help me regarding this, Coz I am facing this issue for a long term.
