Today I went to the service center to get this checked out, for some reason my bike is working fine now but just to be safe got all bolts torqued properly, now bike feels much smoother.
Will keep posted anything comes up.

Mine is 2019 model and yes it's "1V08".
This is the latest version with total different fonts & look than earlier models.

I was on my way from Calicut to Bangalore, i had always enjoyed these rides especially the route through muthanga forest. Apart from carrying my fat ass my bike also under immense load from the trolley bag tied on the pillion seat and my backpack on the fuel tank. Reached mysore, and took the mysore bangalore outer ring road( I guess thats the right name :? ) and i hit a insanely huge pothole. Wouldve been at 60-90 & this happened.

Thank you Mohan. That's exactly what I wanted to know, since the RPM changed colors, it was kind of natural of me to think there should be some software signage changes.

Nah, don't worry. Happens to the best of us, and happens to any bike with such a thin sidewall. Claim insurance. Lucky you are in once piece. If it would have been shattered, then it would have been a different story. AFAIK, there isn't any material change to the rims from the past to present, perhaps they might have did a little change, but still, given the wrong circumstances, they crack, shear and or get ripped apart.

            Cheers!

Hello fellow xbhpians. As the rumours making rounds about bs6 duke 390 getting a bi directional quick shifter. Do you think we can fit the quick shifter on our 2017+ duke 390s.

Power Drift have confirmed on their Instagram page of the new one having bi-directional QS and black subframe, but let's wait for the official word. It should be swappable given the familiarities between the both, but let's take it with a pinch of salt right now.

                Cheers!

Planned on removing and flushing the coolant, looked for alternatives to the Inugel supplied at the SVC. Opted for the coolant from Honda (premix used for the CBR twins) and 30+ heat cycles and a month later, the temp gauge does not go above the half way point and the fan doesn't kick in that often. Bike seems to be running a bit cooler. Riding conditions are peak traffic, typical Chennai office commute via T. Nagar (9kms one way), and I generally do not get the chance to slot it above 3rd gear during the entirety of my commute.

Trying to lower the temp further in hopes of extending seals and engine life.
                    UPDATE:
It's been 11 months since the coolant swap, the temp gauge has not gone above the half way mark at all. The bike has been ridden 95% within the city, peak traffic hours and spends a good 2.5 hours in traffic, 5 days a week. Engine showed signs of roughness, and I decided to drain, flush and replace coolant again. Went with the same CBR250 premix available at all Honda OTC spares. Been 24 hours since coolant swap and the bike is back to it's original smoothness. Old coolant seemed darker than a fresh bottle, but did not see any separation as seen in the initial Inugel case. Seemed it would still go on for a couple of months. Volume has been a hit and miss, manual states 1.2 litres, it barely took 1 litre last time, this time it gulped a bit over 1.2

Overall happy with performance, and small joys of bringing the roughness of the engine down. Keeping tabs on gauge readings.

Messed up the drain bolt by over tightening it with a rachet. The bolt sheared and broke. Fortunately was able to get the broken bolt out without any damage to the thread or pump casing. Mental reminder to be gentle from here on with engine bolts

Yes it is not just a rumor I have seen the launch videos too, they indeed get the bi-directional quickshifter along with BS6 engine. And they launched new matte grey color along white with new stickers but unfortunately the white comes with black alloys and looks very bland atleast in vidoes matte grey looks really cool unfortunately they discontinued the orange color which most KTM people like.
Coming to can quickshifter be fitted to 2017+ model ? only service guys can confirm but from KTM's past I remember the first gen Duke 390 came it had normal clutch but later was given option to upgrade to slipper clutch at extra cost so finger crossed.

                      Regards,

                        Hello,

I own a 2018 Duke 390 and seem two have two peculiar problems for which the SVC haven’t responded that well in the past two services.

Problem 1: An audible tick tick sound comes out of the front of the bike (around the engine area) when I ride it. This doesn’t come always, but is persistent when it does.

Problem 2: The idling is erratic and more often than not, the ignition gets cut during the first try. The bike works without getting off after a bit of revving and after the second or third try.

Could you help me out with this. Thanks in advance!

Injector cleaning/clogged air filter/dirty air filter/dirty spark plug could be one of the reasons.

                            Hi,

                            Thank you for your response!

The spark plug was changed in the penultimate service as well as the oil and air filter. It still didn’t help as the problem continued.

I don’t want to suspect the fuel pump at this stage as the bike has been in constant use and has never gone even near dry. It’s run 14.6K kms. Should I worry about this?

The "Tic" sound could mean shim adjustment. How much has your bike run?

Idling and shutting off was rectified with an ECU update. I don't recall the version, but I had the same issue. If your ECU has the latest update, try reflashing and updating it again.

Hope this helps! Please keep us posted on updates.

EDIT: Just read that your bike has run 14.6K kms. It's most probably the ECU. If the SVC doesn't agree to a flash/update, try hard resetting the ECU by removing the battery wires (google for detailed info). The ECU should auto adjust by itself IIRC.

                                Hi John,

                                Thanks for your response!

I’ve tried the dirty ECU remap by idling the bike for 15 mins after a significant cool down. It sort of worked temporarily on the idling and switching off part before going back to bad behaviour. Will check with SVC on the ECU update.

I would also ask them to look at the Valve shim while there. Planning to take it in March. Would keep you posted!
