I own a 2018 Duke 390 and seem two have two peculiar problems for which the SVC haven’t responded that well in the past two services.

Problem 1: An audible tick tick sound comes out of the front of the bike (around the engine area) when I ride it. This doesn’t come always, but is persistent when it does.

Problem 2: The idling is erratic and more often than not, the ignition gets cut during the first try. The bike works without getting off after a bit of revving and after the second or third try.

Could you help me out with this. Thanks in advance!
How much has it clocked? The tick tick sound can be due to CCT and offset valve clearances. Intermittent tick tick sounds would mean faulty CCT. Secondly, the erratic idle can be due to a lot of factors, dirty air filter, gummed up throttle body, blocked fuel filter, offset valve clearances, dirty spark plug and or idle stepper motor issues. I'd suggest you start off cleaning/replacing your spark plug, air filter and then try using Shell V power fuel and see if it helps. If the issue still persists, then you can consider inspecting your cam chain tensioner and valve clearances

    Keep your observations posted.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      Hi VJ,

It’s clocked 14.5 K. The spark plug has seen 6K kms since my penultimate service. Will try cleaning this.

Any idea on much CCT would cost? In the event that it is faulty would ask the SVC to replace this.

Replace the spark plug, don't clean it. CCT would cost 250~ approx and if you're under warranty, and if you can push for it, they'd replace that along, if found faulty.

        Cheers!

          Thanks VJ.

Will ask them to replace the plug.

The bike is under warranty and would push for CCT replacement.

            HI All,

This might not be exact forum for this but hope I would get some answers.
I have an old MT Axxis helmet which was good enough for CBR now with Duke 390 it makes a lot of noise beyond 60 kmph and also it has become very old and loose too.
I'm in market for new one all the new MT helmets seem to have same noise problem as many owners have pointed out not sure its problem for them only or its universal.
My budget is around 10K at max there are few I have shortlisted like Bell Qualifier and few HJC, MT helmets the reason being I can go to a store and try them out but no one I know have used them so not sure how they're in long term or in high speeds.

What helmets you guys are using ? Which one do you recommend ?

            Regards,
            Mohan

Even if you get a Schuberth, you'll still face wind noise on the D390 since it's a naked motorcycle. I have a Caberg Drift and a HJC FG17, both touring helmets but with the same wind noise. Been using earplugs and the issue has solved itself. Cheap and easy fix. If you're bored of MT helmets, check out LS2 from https://ls2helmetsindia.com/

They're VFM, except I prefer a D-ring to the clip they have. Whenever you buy a helmet, ensure spares are readily available. Hope this helps!

I'm also looking for something with double D-ring , didn't know that noise is a common issue thanks for the inputs.

I got once told by the owner of OrionMotors who is one if the biggest dealer in bike gears,
"Even if you buy a ₹50K AGV top of the line helmet, you would still get wind noise after city speeds"

Its almost double than my budget but will check it out if I can find some deal.

P.S. To the mods sorry for asking off-topic question.

You can even try revolt helmets as well, they are pretty decent. As suggested use ear plugs to reduce wind noise.

                          Hello All,

I have installed the KTM My Ride application on the phone, however, I do not see who is calling on the 390's display - Only the number is flashed instead of Name+Number.

I want to see the callers name on the KTM's display.

The bike is 2019 December model/1558kms and yes, the app is given permission to sync contacts and everything. I have a OnePlus 6T with the latest KTM ride app with all the bluetooth permissions.

I think it's a glitch. My display was working properly but now i just see A writting on screen not even a number.

Some rubbing kind of sound evident from front during left hairpins and in city while turning right, I have captured videos as well.
Front wheel bearings changed still no luck what could be the issue. Brake calipers checked too

Is it coming from wheel ? or front part of handle or mudguard ?
