Re: 2017 Duke 250
I've replied to your query in the Duke 390 thread. Following along the same line, if your commute is basically to office and mundane traffic, stick to something like 200s like the Apaches and the FZ250s, easy on pocket, packs enough commute punch and comparatively frugal.Originally posted by Viswar4 View PostHi guys,
Need some opinion i currently own a suzuki gixxer and am planning to upgrade to the duke 250. How is the riding comfort for rider and pillion for long drives like 500 to 600km. 70% daily commute and 30% touring. Is this bike good for that?
Cheers!

Re: 2017 Duke 250
Good choice of upgrade. Riding comfort is good for long rides. Can't be as good as your previous bike though. 500-600 kms rides are do-able. You just have to get used to the seat and the cushioning. If you still feel it's not comfortable, you can opt to buy aftermarket gel seats that are available. The bike is good for daily commuting. Enough power to get you there in time as well as enough mileage to not burn a huge hole in your pocket. If you're not used to the heat, you will get used to it in time.Originally posted by Viswar4 View PostHi guys,

Sounds like the time I took my bike to the SVC for a rattle related issue. Mine was around the tank - key area. Unsurprisingly, they heard nothing. Had to fix it using a part from a rubber mat.Originally posted by Xothana View PostThat didn't help, service guys also not fixing it, only said common in D250.

only in 1st gear at 2-3k rpm ?Originally posted by Xothana View PostThat didn't help, service guys also not fixing it, only said common in D250.
have u tried removing the radiator cap and putting it back.. also check if the expansion tank (white coolant tank at the top) is bolted on securely
these noises are difficult to isolate without actually checking out the bike in person.

Re: 2017 Duke 250
It is coming from the radiator area, 1 gear around 2-3rpm its still there after all necessary pads and adjustment, but its gone sometimes.Originally posted by s1d View Postare you sure it is from the radiator area? if so, you could maybe use double sided tape, 'rubber washer'(essentially a piece of tire tube cut and used as a washer) or these days you even get them rubber pads (https://amzn.to/2Q01s7N)
also try these.. fill up tank to at least 90% capacity and see if the buzz vanishes, and also try to put a bit of pressure with your finger on the tank cap while you ride and observe.

Thank you for the reply bro. 390 is kinda way over my budget. So i will probably get the 250. I will soon update my purchase bro.

Minimal vibrations are ok bro. If it can cruise am ok with it. CBR is kinda of a decade old design. I know its phenomenal in terms of reliability. But still old. So 250D it is. Thanks for the input bro. I will soon post my purchase here.Originally posted by strahl7 View Post1 - Well, the 250 is very happy at 60 - 80 you could put it in 6th and chill out and the engine will still have enough punch to overtake.
2&3 - I see that you are concerned about vibrations. I would suggest you go for the CBR or the Mojo or wait a bit for the Jawa. the Dominar or the D250 are in all fairness - manageable, but if you are looking for that butter smooth experience, these are not the bikes for that.

1 - Well, the 250 is very happy at 60 - 80 you could put it in 6th and chill out and the engine will still have enough punch to overtake.Originally posted by Shyamtg View PostHi guys. I want a sports cruiser for touring. I have two questions
1. When am riding with my team mostly comprised of avenger 220's and other such low power bikes will i feel overpowered? I mean like can i cruise at around 60 to 80 in top gear?
2. I ride a pulsar 180 right now which i maintain very well and its very smooth. When i took the test drive Duke 250 for a ride i felt vibrations. Will these vibrations fade away and become refined? Because i also took the Dominar for a test drive 10 mins later and it was very smooth (it was in crap condition with many broken parts yet very smooth).
My brain sees dominar as the logical choice. But my heart cant decide between Dominar and D250. I seriously love the freaky looks of the d250.
I once rode from Madurai to Banglore (400 km) in a Thunderbird 350 and half way through when i took a tea break my hands were vibrating like a tuning fork. I dont want that to happen ever. Is there any other sub 2 lakh bike that will suit touring? Except cbr and mojo. Ok now thats a third question
