Bleeding the brakes is the cheapest option. I'm doing it this thursday/friday. Will keep you informed. Will be out on a long ride on sunday so should be able to figure out exactly what the problem is, if it persists over the weekend.Originally posted by sheelpriye

well good initiative satyen!!
okay, so i've been wondering from a pretty long time :
the suspension of the R15 feels pretty stiff as most of us would agree (at least as compared to dual rear shocks on the other bikes)..
but sadly owing to the cost factor, yamaha didn't incorporate the adjustable version of the linked type mono suspension..like on the Ninja 250r.
i was wondering whether it is possible to swap the 15's mono with that of the ninja??with or without mods??
after monday and tuesday, even the calendar says WTF!!

Don't think anything else would require attention at barely 12K.Originally posted by KwokFist View PostBleeding the brakes is the cheapest option. I'm doing it this thursday/friday. ^^My mechanic would be going to some city to buy a new engine for my RX, what best brake-oil to be brought back? Motul?

Definitely!
Why on holy mother earth would you use them... the Non Standard yet Original Yamaha pads comes for some 250 (Front) and 400 (Rear)! Just needs a bit of scrapping!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Why are you using a Non-OE brake pad? To save costs? Not a good idea. At around 12K kms I don't remember having brake fade issues on the same level as I'm facing now. I suggest you revert back to the original ones. My bike's run 25K+ kms now
Satyen: Are you talking about the same pads which Sheel has displayed here?--------------------------------

Nopes, the one I am talking about is the factory OEM but it is usually a rejected lot for not meeting the specifications. They are usually have a mm or two thicker coat, which can be easily treated using the sand paper!Originally posted by KwokFist View PostAny DOT4 brake fluid should be fine. Motul is good.

Boys, I didn't fit the non OE ones with choice, the OE ones weren't available at one SVC and my pads were faded.(it was an EMERGENCY)
Initially the brake feel was good, have checked today and the oil is passing, shall revert back post a ride.(sadly am back to driving
)
Always get my new brake pads treated with sand paper prior to fitment.
^^As per my mech and the one at SVC, the non OE ones are better than OE ones, didn't ask them for their reason citing the same. (none of them had procured or had any monetary interest in it)

After a brake overhaul.. Bleeding and refill and 500kms of riding the brake fade issue is solved to some extent. My brake pads are worn out. So will replace it after another 500 kms once I'm back in Mangalore. Bleeding has improved but nowhere close to a stock bike. Lets see what else can be done to further improve braking.
Couldn't source DOT 4 Motul brake fluid so using KBX DOT 4.

As satyen said,
I too have picked a few factory reject Brake pads long back, OE ones , front 150 and rear 250 .
The Thickness would Be a lil over the specified limits.
Just a scrape job on the Sand Paper and voila , you'v saved a 1300 Rs :-).
Sheel/Satyen/Sarvajit/Apar--Whose got the battery replaced? ANy of you guys tried fixing a 5 Amp battery? Does it fit well without much mods for space?

Agip Full-Synth
Yeah, info on that would be useful.
I put Agip Fully-Synth engine oil (5W40) in my R15.
Got the oil-filter changed too. Got this oil from the Yam SVC. The mech
was going all out tryin to sell this, "Good for racing saar!"
Just thought i'd try it as its for Rs. 620/-
Bike immediately started feeling smoother. Seems to be pulling much more effortlessly. Am confused about the gear shifts tho..
Its mostly butter smooth, but sometimes the gears clang while shifting. Especially 1st to 2nd & 2nd to 3rd. Have only ridden about 250km after pouring in this oil, so will post a proper review later on.
Have attached a pic of the can.
Cheers & Safe Riding!A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

I have put 5A battery. nohting much has to be done, there is a black thick sponge under the stock battery just remove that and you are good to go. no other mods are required.Originally posted by santoosh View PostAs satyen said,
