Funny part is they are priced like then come with some assured dyno values. 8-9k is not cheap.
Exhaust systems have a thumb rule. You reduce the restriction in any 4-stroke engine, and ofcourse your acceleration will improve a bit, but not to the levels you expect. Any tom or dick can throw away the stock canister and make a freeflowing one and expect some 0.5secs gain to 60 and 100kph and a few magazines are featuring them like its some rocket science. Quite funny
Stock bike does 13.5secs to 100 and this one does some 12.9 or so and then they are like wow, what a mean machine. Any chotu can build such a pipe.
Then we have our junta mechanics who play prank with mechanics, like in this case where someone was misguided that the ECU will self-adjust the AFR over usage. What are they thinking, I mean both the mechanic and the customer?
Now that Two brothers has launched their package, a price tag of $350 does not justify the performance gain it offers. trust me, it'll be a blessing if the gain is over one whole bhp on the dyno with just the exhaust.
joel 90% of guys putting in new pipes dont even know what BHP is
or their bikes power ,they all do it for style(impressing chicks),so forget about 1 bhp increase .
the fz & r15 is released in s america ,i can only think of the new mods that will be coming out

      • Hello Joel...
i'm new to this community... found ur work really interesting and inspiring also...

Wat do u think abt utilizing ram air to give a small boost....
u hav done everything except that... gettin free flow exhaust and filters..
I learnt that all the high capacity bikes have ram air intake ports nearby the front fairing and it give a good boost upto 15 bhp in hayabusa at speeds over 150 mph..
i donno how useful it can be in a 150 cc bike.. tried many websites for info....
but basically more air entering the engine would allow us to burn more fuel and get more power..
        wat do you think???

        • once i cross the 7 k mark in 2nd gear i sense some serious vibrations. in higher gears i sense the same but only after 9.5 k rpm. why is it?only recently have i started to rev my engine to such high rpm. previously i seldom go above 8k. does the bike makes such vibrations at high rpm in general or is it with just my bike. some one please post some opinions.my bike is 14 months old and has done only 7k kms. i never went above 110 ever. is it time for me to thrash my bike to the 140s. the vibrations are making me nervous.

          • Just to validate what Yamaha is selling and to prove a point, we happened tp pick-up a Yamaha race kit. Which includes the DAGREX exhaust, camshaft and the ECU. Costed us 36k.
I went in stages to check the improvements on a stock bike. The exhaust made hardly any difference and the price tag of 17.5k is insane and does not translate to any drastic improvement. There were tiny improvements higher up the band and thats about it.
The camshaft like I had said earlier had a lower profile than what I was using on my engine and hence made no sense to even try.
The ECU again like expected has the same performance untill 10000rpm and lets it get past the "Fuel cut" and revs an extra 2000rpm with serious drop in power at that. Its a nice effort from Yamaha to promote some genuine go-fast goodies for the R15 and improve the scene in India, however it does not justify the cost, the hype and the performance gains expected.
The engine in nits full kitted form will pump some 2-2.5bhp more. Nothing more.

I expected this. What are the improvements to the top-end? Does it do a true 140kmph?
I don't think there are any improvements to the mid-range, are they?

Not entirely to all, simply coz once I start selling stuffs off the shelf, it will get copied and there will be cheap replicas/false claims etc soon and its all pure mess. I will however start selling stuffs, only on personal basis and on clear consent that the tech will remain privy. I know there are many out there who are waiting to pound on me, get my stuffs and start copying. Ofcourse they will never strike it right, but I aint gonna make it easy for them.
Lets see, I hope I'm proved wrong

Thats how this world lives man. Copy, change few things and sell as new. There is hardly anything new in this world. All are copies of somebody else's hardwork without giving due credits to the creator.

                              • Few days ago i saw a r15 pass me by, all i could say from sight was stock exhaust, everything. except the sound, sounded wow like a superbike(not anything like the dagrex daytona exhaust thingy IMHO that sounds like a high revving bullet/machismo). any idea on how to get that on?

And are there any other sound mods available just purely for auditory pleasure?
