It's good to see a great enthusiasm in you Joel. I know, it's not pocket friendly to do R&D on a bike, where you are not getting much backup from others and most probably others will only learn from you from this forum.

    Once again, great going mate.

So true. Thats exactly the scene here. You take all the efforts and spend serious bucks and countless man hours to develop and get results and then people on forums want it all in one sheet.
I mostly wonder wht I should reply when someone asks me what I did to build a 20+ bhp motor!
They want everything in an explanation and then they are like, oh ok so you did this much eh. Fine.
If only everyone knew where to tap inside an engine to get serious power, then all would be tuners. In today's competitive world nobody sells their ideas for free especially after having invested TIME and money.
Everybody wants a powerful engine, but want power for peanuts. Tuning is not cheap and a good build takes good money. You pay mostly for the ideas and man hours than the actual hardware plonked.

My R15 build should be hopefully complete this weekend. Will update figures later. Will also be doing a dyno run next week. A stock v/s mine V-BOX comparo will also happen.

Joel mate, i think you should charge if any one contacts you for upgrading their engine. I think that's a fair bet. It's your idea, it's your effort, it's you, who deserve to get the money.

Autocar mag has news about the add on kits for R-15 coming, once they are here, i'll go for it. Once installed, i am coming to Bangalore to meet Joel for that extra tuning .. I hope that's fine with you mate.

Thats precisely why my question about the ECU!

Not everybody can be a tuner heck even of 10% caliber as of yours!

What I meant with the "replacing the ecu" bit was that 1) Getting the Stock ECU from Yamaha, and 2) Installing the modded (FID'd) ECU

This could be a way to sponsor your mod work!
You can possibly sell ECUs which run on updated AFR values to accommodate smaller mods like an after market air filter... may be an exhaust and stuff!
You can charge a premium on this 'modded' ecu (if it does retain values, which i think it should)

Sell it at a premium man, it will still sell like hot cakes! Bundle it with smaller mods...!

FYI the R15 ECU costs MRP 7800/- will you buy one with the AFR changed on it

he he he, instead you can send your ECU on a returnable basis with AFR changed and tested and yes an Exhaust can be made as a package.
I'm gonna do some dyno runs with different AFR settings and also with tuned pipes.
Chill man, its just a matter of time. Things will line up.
Atleast from my end, I assure you goodies for the R15 which will give it some serious kicks. Not some crap that flies around the Thai markets and others. Stuffs which is worth your money.

In India tuning basically means, spark plug change (of God knows what plug rating, heat range etc), air filter change, some dalda dabba exhaust, K&N stickers, some LEDs, shoving some big piston in some cases and voila they claim to be ultra fast. Best part the mech would have robbed that kid through his nose for power less than 1bhp or mostly it'll be slower than stock.

Absolutely trust you on that one mite! I will work out on something to procure another ECU... (may be from the crashed vehicles :P )

                    Waiting anxiously...

I've built my first freeflow for my R15. The exhaust note is very bass-ey and when u shut the throttle it gives an awesome humming note. Its got a deep growl when revved hard too.
My engine is still stripped so needed a bike for exhaust dimensions and make mountings.
Thats when our Aparajith arrived from Chennai. So used his bike for prototyping and after 2 painful days, its done. The bike runs sweet. There is considerable difference in performance on a stock engine (Apar's bike). The bike revs effortlessly and acceleration is a lot better than stock.
I'm riding his bike since a day now and it feels really peppy. Climbs speeds better than stock. Its more noticable when the revs climb past 5k rpm.
Things will be hotter when its plonked on my bike with the reworked internals. It should be all ready in a days time, hopefully.
                        Will post a pic later.

^U could have taken your bike for a spin last night, but it was raining heavily. Didnt get to ride much last night but today got to rip in a few places. Will check it on the gun sometime when I get free. Anyways, the freeflow willl go on my bike in a day. Its gonna be some super fun.

Yesterday evening/night I was dozing away happily on a Chennai-bound VOLVO exhausted after the party. So even if u had called, no chance. And yes, agree with the rains. And how loud is the exhaust ? As much as ur fiero's first free-flow or much quieter? And how have u bound the end-can to the bike?

                              P.S: Is it still ribbed?
