I own a R15 V3. I purchased it last year in September. Now it has started making a tick sound everytime I switch it off.

I went to the service center and the mechanic was not able to fix the problem.

I don't have much knowledge & I am not even aware what is causing that sound. Is it something serious?

    Kindly help!
Thank you & regards Ankur Goyal.
The tick tick sound post engine turned off after is the exhaust system cooling down which is completely normal. There is nothing wrong or serious with your motorcycle.

    Cheers!

When you observe a leak or oil weep from top of the head and leaving about stain marks along the engine, it can be due to a failed head cover gasket/O-ring. When this gasket fails, oil will weep from any one side and leave black stains. Unattended, eventually, the entire gasket can fail resulting in excessive oil leak. Get it checked at your SVC.

        • So, here’s the things. I own an R15 v3 for the last 2.5 years and it’s been a pleasure owning this motorcycle.
however, lately i am facing an issue with my motorcycle as the clutch bell (known as clutch hub or primary housing or the clutch basket) is making a grinding noise
this sound disappears when the clutch lever is pulled (disengaged)
I am not sure why am I facing this issue but I have tried changing the clutch bell and the sound still persist. I don’t see a solution from the yamaha team and also from personal mechanic.
can anyone help me sorting this out?
also I see that there is a delay in the response of my motorcycle though i service on a regular interval by checking everything including tyre dampers.

          could anyone please help me
          my insta id is viperhead_in_blue
if anyone can help kindly drop me a message on insta or please reply on this thread
          thanks in advance

Yamaha has this issue right from inception, the clutch bell sound that starts after certain KMS. The solution is to either re-rivet them with new rubber dampers or a new one. If the issue still persists, the problem can be the clutch bearing and or the slipper clutch assembly itself. Start off by thoroughly inspecting for play in the new bell, if there is then your new bell can be faulty (though chances are rare) If everything seems okay, start off with clutch bearing and the slipper clutch assembly.

            Hope it helps!

I have finally installed abs in my r15 v3 2018 model , costed me around 26k. I will write a detail post in diy section when I will get the time .

                Congratulations brother!

I too own a R15 V3 2018 model and accidentally bumped into this forum while on the lookout for workshop manual for the same. If anyone could kindly provide the source to download or purchase, it would really be grateful since my bike has done 32,000 kilometers as of now and is in due for preventive maintenance say valve clearance adjustment, cam chain tensioner adjustment. And the service centre people have completely deserted me since I sound too technical on their sight. Also my bike's engine has become rough pointing to the above said indicators.

                Thanks!

Extremely sorry for such a late reply since am new to this forum.

Yes, I have used this engine oil during my 20,000 kilometers paid service at Sri Motors, Kattupakkam, Chennai.

My impressions of the oil during the initial 2000 Kilometers are,

                  1. It's imported which means it exceeds the oil standards mentioned and is far superior to the locally made Yamalube
                  2. Acceleration will be slightly slower for the same amount of throttle input
                  3. The oil is highly viscous which leads to more fuel being burnt for each stroke thereby giving you reduced mileage
                  4. I witnessed radiator fan continuously kicking in during city rides and hot air was continuously hitting my calves
                  5. The engine note was quite heavy too

The viscosity of the oil becomes normal presumably after 5000kms say on par with the local Yamalube and I witnessed increase in fuel efficiency and linear change for the good in all the other characteristics' I mentioned above as I munched miles.

I presume you can use this oil for continuous highway rides or track sessions when engine is always at high rpms.

Indeed. The thicker viscosity is what makes the gear shifts smoother during the beginning, and once the oil gets sheared inside the engine and starts to thin out, the oil will slowly lose its properties and the engine begins to sound harsh, rough gears shifts and poor top end performance all start to show up. The time period with which this happens vis a vis w30 and w40 depends on the riding conditions and the way the vehicle is ridden, factors that are different to each individual and rider. But for the most part, this oil isn't justifiable for the humble R15. General Yamalube and Shell oil with periodic oil replacement is efficient and viable, economcially and practically.

Appreciate your feedback about this oil Lars.

                    Cheers!
