I'll try to explain some things (though I may wrong, in such case please correct me)

      • He opens the case and strips off a transparent paper like thing and replaces it with a different one, which I think is the polarizer.

I think you can remove and place the stock polarizer in a different direction to get white letters is black background as I've seen in some calculator displays.

If it doesn't work, try searching Amazon for polarizing/polarizer sheet.

      • He replaces the LEDs with more powerful ones.

LEDs are available almost everywhere. To procure some must not a difficult thing.

      • He places a paper with colored layout of the speedo which is responsible for the colors that he gets finally.

Try to make one by getting the speedo layout in the internet and spending some time in Photoshop or CorelDraw.

      • There is some soldering involved.

This is a tricky part. Soldering is not difficult but a small mistake and BOOM. Gone. So special care must be taken, especially with the LCD contacts.

          POST APPROVED AND MERGED

          Why I bought this bike

I will be honest with you, never thought I would be buying this bike honestly. I've always wanted to own a Continental GT, the idea of a cafe racer makes me want to spend all my parent's money away. But due to it not being in production and as much as I love the idea of owning one... My parent's don't want to shell that kind of money away.

It was either a cafe racer or a full fairing bike, now I had tons of options to choose from but truth be told - I really only had 2 options. A HONDA CBR 250 R (2018) or A YAMAHA R15 V3.

But who am I kidding, how in the world would I possibly convince my parents to buy a 2 lakh 40 thousand bike as my first one. So I put them in a ringer it was either the CBR or the R15 which is 1 lakh 80 thousand (on the road - Bangalore).

One would argue that both the bikes are for different purposes, one being a sort of tourer and another one being a track machine. But to me, being a newborn child into the world of biking - it meant 1 being more expensive, whilst having ABS and another cheaper one which doesn't have ABS whilst churning out a bigger power output thanks to the VVA technology (I've already experienced this technology in my car which is a Honda Civic which has the I-vtec) and then the added bonus of the Assist and Slipper clutch.

With never having owned a bike, I did what any sane first-time bike owner would do - I went ahead and finalized on this beauty - The R15 V3

          Buying the bike

Had to wait a whole goddamn week to get her having to have paid the full amount and so I did. I was full of doubt, like having never ridden a full firing bike before and this being a serious piece of hardware for a 150 CC machine or more like The 150 CC machine.

My fear soon started to kick into me with the onset of nightmares, ranging from me unable to handle the bike and downright worst nightmares of me crashing. But I convinced myself that if I could handle my first car being a civic - a 140 (debatable due to the power loss over the years) bhp beast then I can definitely handle a 19 ps bike.

It was delivered in the evening, 6 30 pm on a Monday.

Riding her for the first time

I kid you not, I almost shat myself by just putting my legs around her for the first time. SHIT. RIGHT, THEN AND THERE - I knew it, I messed up. What is a guy like me, who barely has 1 week of riding experience on a Yamaha FZ 15 and a Suzuki Gixxer - doing on a thoroughbred like this one?

Right of the bat, every single person from the dealership was outside watching me switch her on for the first time. I could almost feel everyone's breath on my shoulders at that point in time.

They were still staring, so I gave em a little blip of the throttle to about 4000 rpm and boy oh boy. Is she a pleaser.

That's when I realized, oh shit - Now I had to ride the Bangalore traffic {More precisely the Sarjapur traffic} on a full fairing bike, that I have no experience of.

I was clearly messed up, my calibrations were off, the throttle is sensitive, a slight flick of the wrist and she moves. The clutch is super fine, engagement and disengagement is like a hot 50 cal bullet through a block of butter.

I don't know what happened but I managed myself to the back of a truck in traffic, whilst hopping around on my legs.

My legs were shaking, arms are trembling, and my knees felt weak. To only make matters worse, all the other bike commutators didn't strangely join me in this free space. Where at least another 2 bikes could fit, they are between the cars - staring at me. Then I hear a rumble, I thought it was my whiskey throttle. So I looked at my throttle hand, and just like a knight in a shining armor. A guy riding a White Harley Davidson pulls up beside me, and that thing on idle was making the ground shake.

So there I was, looking at all his glory, so he kills the bike and there I was staring at him like WOOAHHH, whilst trying to muster a smile except my smile was flickering up and down like a light bulb with a problem. I guess he saw that too, so he takes a look from top to bottom, a 150 rupees helmet, a dirty white shirt and jeans that look like I have wrestled a hog in the mud. He nods at me, switches on that white horse and goes between the truck and a car. All I am thinking at this point of time is that, WHAT DA FCK was that......

That's when the Wagon R behind me honks and wakes me up from my daydream (More like evening dreaming).

I take a U-turn and I let the floodgates open up.

I wish I could put it into words, but truth be told - I kid you not... I had no idea, whatsoever on what happened or what's happening. RIGHT, WHEN THAT VVA KICKS IN, I'm like okay traffic is stopping, I need to ease down and then that power band kicks in for a second or so and I start squeezing the front brakes, thinking WHAT THE 50CK was that ????

Before you know it, I find my self an opening and let it go AGAIN.

One thing and only one thing came into my mind - the famous car memes of (where will you be when the V-TEC kicks in) and so I start laughing, hearing the echoes in my helmet and what do you know, more traffic...........

few more VVA KICKING IN MOMENTS, and then I realized something - I just finished a few km's or so.

BOY OH BOY WAS I FULL OF HAPPINESS.

This bike is everything that I was expecting it to be plus extremely forgiving and crazy amount of control. That's right, I said it - This bike is exactly what I expect a riding experience to be.

Its been about a few weeks, 3 weeks to be precise and I have already clocked in 1160 km's and truth be told I don't even want to give her up for the first service because it would just make me - that much more empty without her.

--I'll leave it at this much for now, will expand upon my post later on other specifics for daily rideability, etc etc

Depends on type of use I believe.

I don't ride fast, but still prefer to be on the safer side, hence why I'm for now sticking to Bell, its a 10k helmet and its doing fine after a year, way better than my MT Blade, but I know for sure that even the Bell won't last for more than 3 years total.

                    Hello everyone
The starter switch problem which I mentioned earlier in my bike,it has got worse now
Last week when I was on a ride I stopped for breakfast and then bike refused to start
After several tries thankfully it started.Today morning same thing happened and bike isn’t responding at all.
While my first service I had mentioned the problem to them and they said it was due to rains and that they have rectified it.
Please help what should I do
                    Thanks

Now, let me ask you a few questions. By starter switch you mean to say starter button or the starter relay? If you feel the bike is dead when pressing the starter button but the bike eventually fires by repeatedly pressing, oxidation may be causing the bike to start smoothly. Use Zorrik or WD 40, Zorrik is cheap and comes in a 32 gm spray pack, spray this inside the starter button hole carefully and give it a few presses, do this a few seconds so that it helps remove the oxidation. Try cranking the bike and observe how it fares.

Secondly, check your starter relay if the bike makes, khrr ot khtkrrr sound, that would mean a faulty battery, as in a battery that is discharged or a loose battery lug.

                      Keep your observations posted.

                      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                        HI Guys,
I am planning to buy R15 v3. I am 6'1'' tall and weigh around 80, I do get back problems sometimes but regular exercises keep them away (I am 33!). I am just in love with r15 v3 but people have been warning me about its aggressive stance and that it cant be used for daily commute. Can the owners please let me know if you are facing, wrist, shoulder or back problems or anything else. Apologies if this question has already been answered, I am unable to find anything similar.

You might get wrist pains sure in traffic! (No doubt).

BTW it gives good mileage and new engine with 19.2 BHP .

PS: you can also try Pulsar RS200 ,by spending few thousand bucks you get a relaxed riding position with ABS brake .

Just because a helmet "looks" good doesnt mean its actually good.

EPS liners have a shelf life of 7years from production date.

This reduces to 5 years when in use.

This statement is given by SHOEI for their helmets.

Now for a helmet that is from a different brand and in a much lower price bracket, the life of the EPS liner changes.

If your friend is still using his whichever model LS2 since 2013, hes probably putting himself at a greater risk of EPS failure by continuing to use that helmet.
