R15 V3 Starts to show it's true nature
    • The Poor Quality Tank Lock jammed and had Rust around them such a pain in arse moment where I can't open it (the bike was later consultant at Service and now it's ready)
    • Paint on the Clip on starts fading
    • Bike does Vibrate in-between 4000-6000RPM
    • The Slipper Clutch is now a joke ..there is some amount of Engine breaking happening
    • Tail Section almost broke .. such a crap quality Tail section almost broke (actually splitted) ... embarrassed infront of friends
    • Speedometer Error :- I was doing 155KMPH in the speedo and my friend in NS just easily pass ..and later I ask him ..whats the top end he said he touched 145KMPH while crossing me ☹️ .. Yamaha Service Center Admit that there is 10-15KMPH Speedometer Error
    • Paint Quality isn't great everything now starts fading ..

NB:- these are negative ..this real life ownership..most of us (V3 owner) dont want other to know about the dark side ..V3 has the most advanced 150cc motor but it ain't perfect

Yamaha did a good job designing the V3, the quality has unfortunately taken a good hit. I think the last V2s and R15S were truly fantastic bikes in that aspect. The V2 had a charm of its own, and also the R15S which is a truly a legend of a bike, still turns heads better than the R15 V3. Poor quality plastics, inferior crappy brakes, poor fit and finish leave a lot in the V3 to be desired. With the BS6 the torque and power figure are also equal to the V2 and paying extra doesn't make sense. Yes, all that VVA does make a difference, but at the cost of vibrations and a cranky motor. But any day the enthusiast will and forever remain loyal to the first gen 150cc engines. The best 150 India has ever witnessed and forever will be.

      Appreciate your honest post.

      Cheers!

Woah there, let's not throw the horse under the bus just yet.. i have one that's been through 2owners. One for just 5 months though, originally purchased in Jun 2018. Iv'e put this bike though some pretty pathetic riding conditions, i'm talking Koramangala - Hoodi commutes, where one has the roads in tatters because of a flyover construction and the latter the metro. the only thing that's gone wrong with mine is a fork leak which i blame on those so called "speed breakers" in this city, Yeah the plastics are pretty creaky in feel, and is kinda easily scratched on the tank area but there are no rattles and the tank hasn't split off yet!. Only thing that's rattled is the saree guard.

Yeah, there are some prominent vibes in the 5 to 6k range, which is pretty unnerving at times, but none below that range and smoothens out after 6k and remains the same till redline. Not excusing Yamaha about the vibrations here, they should have done something about this before release besides what single cyl sport bike nowadays are ultra refined anymore? In the city though, you can easily putter around under 5k and have a pretty mellow ride cashing in some splendor like mileage (Ok, not really but it's pretty high).

Only complaint other than that is feeling like the below after a long ride in the city with out a break. Thank god for signals.

Has anyone in this forum used ceramic brake pads? I am confused as to which brand should I purchase and whether it would void the warranty?

Ceramic brake or any other brake pads won't void warranty, unless the SVC guys are keen eyed. Better brake pads aid in one's braking performance, ceramic, organic, sintered or semi sintered. I would suggest you try semi sintered pads they are cheaper and last comparatively better than organic ones. I am using EBC brakes HH Fully sintered brake pads on one of my other motorcycles and the performance has been good.

                Cheers!

I shall enquire about the warranty issue since the SVC guys where I service my bike look for opportunities to revoke the warranty with the slightest reasons. If the warranty doesn’t get void, I must try the sintered ones.

                  • Queries on R15 V3 BS6

Since the thread is dead. Let me take the initiative to keep the thread engaged.

Guys, I'm planning for a new bike. This is considerably my first bike lately at the age 25. Previously, I was using my dad's UG2 Pulsar.

The bike is built literally like a tank but the handling was not confidence inspiring. I have to move on for my better safety.

Bike's I'm considering are low to mid capacity motorcycles and one premium scooter.

These are rank wise motorcycles I listed from most preferred.

                    1) Dominar 400.
                    2) R15 V3.
                    3) Jawa Forty Two.

Please give me your inputs from an R15 Owners Perspective.

Well, if you are looking at handling and handling only, the R15 it is.

JAWA 42 is having its buckle loosen with quality issues, every now and then a rusted vehicle top to bottom is being reported on the web, and definitely a good comfortable bike, but quality is definitely not there. Shame, the legendary JAWA name is put to test by the outlay-controllers at present. Secondly, the V3, great handler, still has the charm of the R15, but for the most part, it's a modern plastic junk to say the least. Truly the legends were the V1s, R15S' and the first gen V2s, you be the judge. Lastly the Dominar, the do it all fella out there, sporty, "extremely" VFM, good power and stats to back it up, reliable, comfy for those weekend rides solo or two up and munches miles like a pacman.

Invest your money on where your mouth is. All the others can be tempting

                        Cheers!
