Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF250

Did my second service last month. Went with ecstar full synthetic again and total cost was around Rs 990.

I just noticed that the chain has started to rust. Should I be worried about it or just clean/lube it every 1k km?

Lube every 500 kilometers and clean at 1k kilometers.

Check if there is play in rear sprocket. If so you need to change rear wheel bushings.

No matter how you shift.
The only work around I do is that I shift to 1st gear and then start the bike. It is really annoying.

I also have one more question, not related to this one. Can anyone confirm of SF and naked have same size rear sprocket?

Thanks

I refer this video for cleaning and lubing. Minor rust won't be an issue. Use old tooth brush anf kerosene or wd40 to remove it. Then apply motul lube or the one you are using. Clean and lube it every 600 to 800 km.

Regarding the first service, have they changed the oil filter during first and second services?

Thank you #bpk and Crank49!

I used motul chain cleaner/lube and I was able to rub most of the rust off.

Regarding oil filter change @Crank49, yes! they did change the oil filter during first and second service.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF250

Just wanted to share some updates on the simple mods which can be done on the bike to enhance the appeal.

1. > I have removed the rear mudguard flaps which gives it a clean rear look. Simply remove two screws, DIY. Next best to tail tidy. Will go for tail tidy post monsoon.

2. > Removed the saree guard for some clean look and few grams saved.

3. > Changed the indicator bulbs from halogen to simtac 360 led. You can directly replace with any cross pin led, simtac quality though is topnotch.

4. > Have installed a simtac universal flasher without switch version. It directly connects into indicator and back light under rear seat. Operate from stock indicator switch. Clean and simple. No tension of extended wiring and switch prone to water ingress.

5. > Mobile charger with mount, got one from flipkart and found a neat info regarding it's connection. This bike comes with a dedicated connection point for the charger since there is a genuine accessory from Suzuki. The connector is accessible after you remove right side flap. So basically you can just plug any generic mobile charger, no need for any tampering or jugaad.

6. > Wheel tape and tank sticker are genuine accessories, got installed at SVC. Hayabusa and gsx sticker are from. Amazon. There is also a tape set protection for Rs. 1400 from Suzuki which i didn't find worth. Will go for autographix tank grip for some tank protection.

7. > Now the pending update is for the visor which i have ordered and will be delivered by next week. It is also DIY and direct fit. No tampering.

Now only waiting for 2020 to get better for some much needed ride.

Let me know if any further info link required for any accessories.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF250

Check these cool accessories and mods for Gixxer sf 250 in Japan. The gixxer is being exported to Japan, may be first bike export from India to Japan. Hope some accessories are developed by Indian companies.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF250

Can any owner confirm how the gearshift quality is after completing 5 to 10k kms on the ODO? Also in heavy traffic conditions, are downshifts too much of a pain?

The test ride bike gearshifts were pretty hard, but I attribute it to the bone dry chain and lack of maintenance as it was a test ride vehicle.

Though I did like the positive click feel you get during upshifts giving the satisfaction of a good shift/perfect slotting of the gear.

Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF250

Can anyone who has an idea about the pillion seat comfort of the RTR 200 and the Gixxer share their views as to which would be better, considering both comfort and suspension setup tuning for a 30 mins ride at a stretch within the city?... I was fixed on the Gixxer 250 naked, but due to certain circumstances, Pillion comfort priority has come into picture and these are the only two bikes I plan to buy within 2 lakhs! (Ruled out everything else due to some or the other reason).. Thanks in advance for all the suggestions and opinions if I can get any!!

In terms of pillion comfort without a doubt, RTR 200 is the best

I am a student and I am looking for a daily driver. I have zeroed down the Gixxer Sf 250. Fuel efficiency is a deal breaker for me. I am okay with anything upwards of 35kmpl. Can someone comment down the figure the Gixxer sf 250 returns? Thankyou
