Logic dictates that if at all higher engine rpm damages engine, it is already done. There is no point in babying the engine later.
However it is indeed true that all the machined parts, seals, cast surfaces will always carry some impurities at the time of engine assembly and these gets mixed up with engine oil and may act as abrasive material between moving parts. Thus it is advisable to run the engine at slow speeds to minimize the effect of bad oil on moving parts.

Thats why I practice engine oil @ 50km ODO

True that. Fort Nine is the one of the best motorcycle youtuber out there. And to think Suzuki is only slightly better than Harley Davidson and way behind the German and other Japanese pack. Good lord. This Japanese says : we go the American route

      • Another update : Got Highway mileage over 45 kmpl. (speed between 60 - 74 kmph in 6th gear that is below 5k rpm. Kept the speed low all the time as a friend was riding a 125cc Honda SP). The difference not shifting gears for kilometers at a stretch makes.

            • Hi all,
i did booked a gixxer SF250 to upgrade from avenger 220, my expectations are refinement and reliability, 220 is reliable but lacks the refinement and 6th gear.
now i have second thoughts after hearing that gixxers have oil leaks through magneto cover gasket and head case rubber. do anyone of you experienced this, did the company fixed that issue.if no, is it serious or be able to solve by a DIY.
              thanks in advance.

                                Translated from above link :

The engine installed in the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250 is the newly developed oil-cooled SEP engine "EJA1".
By adopting an oil cooling system, a compact cylinder head, a lightweight piston, etc., it has high power and low fuel consumption. A lightweight engine with a small number of parts.
The thick torque in the low to medium speed range, which is well-established in the Gixxer 150, is carefully inherited in the 250cc version of the older brother, and the engine is finished with an output that allows you to enjoy the fun of driving.

SEP, which is a general term for the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250 engines, is an abbreviation for "SEP (SUZUKI ECO PERFORMANCE)". By increasing combustion efficiency and reducing friction loss, fuel efficiency is achieved without reducing power. In other words, it is a "good point" engine that delivers high output while maintaining low fuel consumption.

The development concept of the engine of the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250 called "EJA1" is:

                                ・ High output
                                ・ Small and light
・ Compliant with environmental regulations (Euro 5)
                                ・ Excellent durability
                                ・ Excellent operability

4 to realize the above The two keys are

1: new oil cooling system "SOCS"
                                2: small head block
                                3: communication hole
                                4: piston

"SOCS" is an abbreviation for Suzuki Oil Cooling System.

Why did Suzuki focus on oil cooling again?

Suzuki succeeded in mass-producing an oil-cooled engine for the first time with the "GSX-R750" in 1985. The oil cooling system is Suzuki's first successful mass production (GSX-R750 released in 1985). After that, it has been adopted for 23 years until the GSX1400 released in 2008, but Suzuki now basically adopts a water-cooled type that can easily handle a larger calorific value than the oil-cooled type for sports models. There is. The water-cooled type is an indispensable method for racing machines, which is compatible with monster engines of "400 horsepower or more".

In developing the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250, Suzuki focused on the point that "unless it is an ultra-high power engine such as a liter motorcycle that generates a huge amount of heat, it is not necessary to have cooling efficiency as high as water cooling." ..
"If it is the concept of the

Gixxer, it can be oil-cooled, isn't it?" This idea triggered the adoption of a lightweight oil-cooled engine for the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250.

What are the basics of cooling an engine?

・ Widen the area for heat transfer ・
Increase the flow velocity of the
medium (air for air cooling, water for water cooling) ・ Lower the temperature of the medium (air for air cooling, water for water cooling)

Oil The cold engine is developed according to this principle.

A conventional oil-cooled engine is a system that cools the engine by spraying cooled oil like a shower from above the combustion chamber. As a result, we succeeded in cooling "the part of the engine that has the most heat", which could not be cooled by air cooling.

Newly adopted "oil jacket", an oil passage that surrounds the combustion chamber

How the "oil jacket" works. On the other hand, the biggest point of the newly developed oil-cooled engine adopted in the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250 is "optimizing the way the oil flows".

Specifically, an "oil jacket", which is connected to a single human intestine and has a certain cross-sectional area, is placed so as to surround the combustion chamber.

By flowing oil through this narrow passage, even a small amount of oil can be maintained at a high flow velocity as a whole. It has become possible to effectively remove heat and cool the entire passage.

Diverting the law of "hot bath" !? Installed a protrusion "BLB (* Note)" to intentionally disturb the flow of oil

The structure and mechanism of "BLB (Boundary Layer Breaker)". In addition, a protrusion called "BLB (Boundary Layer Breaker)" is installed in a part of the passage of the oil jacket to intentionally disturb the flow of oil. As a result, the flow velocity of the oil changes → the “boundary layer” of the oil breaks → as a result, the point is to produce the effect of increasing the thermal conductivity.

The "boundary layer" of heat can be experienced when taking a hot bath. What is the "boundary layer" of heat? When I take a hot bath, I feel "hot!" At first. However, the feeling of hotness gradually disappeared, and after a while, when the hot water was stirred, the feeling of hotness was felt again. This is because there is a film of cold water on the surface of the human body. This is called the thermal "boundary layer".

In the case of oil, the heat "boundary layer" is thick because it is muddy compared to water. In other words, it is more difficult to transfer heat than water. This makes it important to actively destroy the thermal "boundary layer".

By adopting "BLB (Boundary Layer Breaker)", it is possible to efficiently remove heat from the engine = cool the engine.

                                * Note: Suzuki has obtained a patent for "BLB (Boundary Layer Breaker)".

Newly adopted "Cooper Grip" to assist heat transfer from inside the cylinder

The new oil-cooled engine improves cooling efficiency by separating the oil path dedicated to cooling and the oil path for lubrication, which is the original role of oil.

By providing two oil paths, one for cooling and the other for lubrication, the oil cooled by the oil cooler is directly applied to the cooling of the combustion chamber.

                                The structure of "Cooper Grip".

The new oil-cooled engine uses a "Cooper Grip" to assist heat transfer from inside the cylinder. "Cooper grip" is a steel sleeve (a round cylinder with a piston that moves up and down) with an uneven shape on the outer peripheral surface. This improves the adhesion with the aluminum cylinder. In addition, the uneven shape increases the surface area and improves heat transfer.
Safe on the traffic jams in midsummer! Installed an electric fan in a large oil cooler

The new oil-cooled engine eliminates the fins used for conventional oil cooling. The appearance is like a water-cooled engine. A large oil cooler is used for the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250 with the aim of improving cooling efficiency. In addition, an electric fan is installed in the oil cooler to assist in cooling in order to deal with windless conditions such as traffic jams.

The new engines of the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250 have no engine fins used in the conventional oil-cooled "SACS (Suzuki Advanced Cooling System)", but there is no problem with cooling. On the contrary, by eliminating the fins, we have realized low cost and light weight by reducing the amount of aluminum material.

Engine oil is characterized by its high viscosity (muddy) when it is cold, and its viscosity decreases (smooth) when the temperature rises. Taking advantage of its characteristics, the oil-cooled type has excellent warm-up performance when the engine is cold = oil is muddy = heat is difficult to transfer = cold air, and a clean engine can be obtained.

The "just right temperature" in the middle of air cooling and water cooling contributes to low fuel consumption performance and high durability.

About temperature test measurement results. "Oil temperature" is the main aisle, "IN valve seat" is near the intake valve, "EX valve seat" is near the exhaust valve seat, and "upper cylinder" is the average temperature of the upper cylinder.

The point is that the "EX valve seat" has achieved a significant improvement from the air-cooled type. This temperature was successfully suppressed to within Suzuki's target temperature in order to ensure the durability of the engine.

Next, pay attention to the temperature of the "upper part of the cylinder". When it is desired to reduce the harmful substance "raw gas" contained in the exhaust gas, it is required to maintain the temperature of the combustion chamber = the temperature of the upper part of the cylinder as high as possible. However, if it is too hot, it will be deformed by heat.

In this way, there is an ideal temperature zone in the "upper part of the cylinder". The newly developed oil-cooled type succeeded in keeping it in the middle of air cooling and water cooling. This "just right temperature" also contributes to low fuel consumption and high durability.

Uses a compact SOHC (overhead camshaft) with a single camshaft

Cylinder head part. The cylinder head of the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250 uses a compact SOHC (over head camshaft) with one camshaft instead of a DOHC (double over head camshaft) equipped with two camshafts. ..

In addition, in order to improve intake and exhaust efficiency, we have introduced 4 valves equipped with 2 intake valves and 2 exhaust valves. The know-how cultivated in the race is condensed, such as incorporating the "roller type rocker arm" that enables low friction.

With the cylinder head cover removed. By pressing the rocker arm with a spring (inside red circle), the rattling noise of the rocker arm due to tappet clearance is reduced. Also, by sliding the rocker arm so that the spring contracts, the shim can be replaced.

"Communication holes" are installed on the sleeves of the cylinder skirt.

Inside the cylinder. Usually, it is standard to cut out the sleeve part of the skirt of the cylinder in an arch shape. However, in the new model, to maintain the roundness of the inner diameter of the cylinder. Also, in consideration of workability, two holes called "communication holes" (four in total on the left and right) are installed.

The "communication hole" realizes the diffusion of waves due to the reciprocating motion of the piston. Normally, when the piston descends, it pushes the air → It pushes down the oil in the oil pan, but by providing a "communication hole", the air diffuses in the left and right directions. This lowers the oil level → prevents the piston from sucking air. This also contributes to the compactness of the engine.

The engine is as compact as the "Gixer 150"

The "EJA1" engine mounted on the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250 has succeeded in making it as compact as or less than the "BGA1" engine mounted on the Gixxer 150 by stacking the above.

By the way, this is also due to the fact that the "BGA1" engine is vertically long because it is a long stroke type that emphasizes torque.

"Synergy Circle Texture Coating" is adopted for the piston for the first time on motorcycles

Suzuki's original synergy circle texture coating is used for the piston for the first time on motorcycles. This system is installed in the company's four-wheeled "Alto" and "Swift."

Optimized for sports bikes that regularly use the high rev range when adopted for the Gixxer SF250 and Gixxer 250. A unique texture-shape is set by combining two types of circles. The point is that the layout takes into consideration the clearance between the piston and cylinder when the engine starts.

By adopting "Synergy Circle Texture Coating", the thickness of the oil film at high speed is optimized to reduce excessive drag caused by engine oil and realize output characteristics suitable for sports bikes.

In addition, while casting the piston, the outside of the sidewall is lightened to reduce weight. The response has been improved and the vibration has been reduced.
