Do post what happens at Krishna Suzuki or any other service station where you visit.
I usually put Speed oil at BPCL petroleum on Airport Kotarpur road in all the vehicles. Never had a problem.

Alternatively, buy Motul 7100 online or from a local shop and get it changed by the SVC mechanic or any other mechanic of your choice. Do remember to change the oil filter along with it.

Keep posting. I haven't seen any change with ECSTAR after first service. Just lubed my chain today morning with Gear oil 80W 90. Let's see how that goes. Suzuki has the combi chain clean and lube 2 in 1.

Oh will they allow that?. if they do, that will be great.
I also statrted using gear oil for lubrication.
And dont go for that 2in 1 thing. It is a good cleaner but the lube lasts only for a day or two.
In one week(during monsoon), my chain developed rust after using that.

During first service, they used the 2 in 1 chain clean + lube. Now I have purchased Motul Chain cleaner and will be using gear oil as a lube. Thanks for the info.
The bike does sounds a bit quiet now at higher speeds after lubing.

Hey folks. It seems the SF 250 does have some of that Hayabusa sound.

Yesterday while at a traffic signal, I heard a bike arrive and it sounded like my gixxer so I naturally appreciate that some other fellow is riding the same bike. You don't see too many 250's on our roads. Now when I turn behind, imagine my surprise to see a black Hayabusa with Akrapovic exhaust. The family pedigree is there. Cheers!

Now when that Hayabusa pulled after the signal turned green, it went with pops and bangs. Now that the gixxer can't do.

P.S. after the first service, the exhaust note has become nicer. There is a growl past 7k rpm and it sounds good when engine braking.

For use of Motul instead of ECSTAR do confirm if the warranty is being void or not. My bike came with 5 year of engine warranty and the mechanic said that warranty will be void on use of Motul. I will need to check the documentation on that.
Also, the mechanic recommended Motul chain lube. Two mechanics have recommended to use Royal enfield chain cleaner and lube and not use Gear oil.
Is there a thread on gear oil usage as chain lube on o ring chains?

I confirmed with suzuki regarding the use of Motul 7100 and they said it will void the warranty. However if we still prefer we can visit big bike showrooms for that.
And regarding chain lubes i have watched a number of videos out of which i came to the conclusion that 90 grade gear oil is cheap and best (using chain cleaner and lube will cost more than the chain sprocket set itself)

Exactly what I realized 4 years ago, after going through 2 bottles of 400ml Motul C2 Chain lube (paying ₹450 each time).
Each bottle lasted me for 3500-4000kms, approx 7 time chain lubing, 550kms once.

My sprocket lasted 16K kms even with atmost care lubing once every 550kms, even with no care atall (apart from lubing during normal service once every 3500kms) it still lasted 12K kms.
For 16K kms of sprocket life, I'd use 4 bottles of lube, which is total of ₹1800 in Lube alone.
My bikes brand new chain sprocket costs only ₹2600!

I did the math and never have spent a rupee of chain lube from then, either use Gear oil(90 or 140 grade) or Old engine or Oil from a Tailoring machine(which is also 90 grade) or when service center does it properly during normal visits.

                          Here is my experience:

At the time of delivery I did a thorough inspection of painted surface and all the mountings of the fairings, found everything to be fine except for the fact that there was some minor scratches on clutch lever. Since it was getting late on a sunday I was requested to get it changed during first service free of cost. I took the same in writing from them and left for home.

The 30km ride from dealership to home was the first opportunity for me to observe the engine and transmission in detail. I kept the engine rpm under 5k.

                          Following were the observations:
                          1. Gearshifts were hard and loud (takk noise)
                          2. Prominent vibrations between 4k-5k rpm
                          3. The engine was not tractable at lower rpms at all

Same day I took my wife with me to the famous Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple in Jaipur for vahan pooja. Prayed for a safe ride. My wife appreciated the comfort once more.

The very next day my father went to a nearby suzuki showroom (both owned by same person) and bought me Suzuki Ecstar Mineral oil 10W-40 oil and also collected a VIP suitcase as a gift. That day I had not taken the new bike to office as I didnt want to ride the bike too much before oil change.

yes I know what might be thinking, first oil change is supposed to be at 750km to 1000km, then how come this guy is avoiding riding.

A short note on running in:

I have worked three years in Two wheeler manufacturing plant and my entire 9 year career is spent in auto OEM factories. Nobody gives two hoots about engine rpm in any company when the engines are tested in test bench, when the vehicle is test ridden or when it is loaded onto containers by driving/riding it on ramp. Logic dictates that if at all higher engine rpm damages engine, it is already done. There is no point in babying the engine later.
However it is indeed true that all the machined parts, seals, cast surfaces will always carry some impurities at the time of engine assembly and these gets mixed up with engine oil and may act as abrasive material between moving parts. Thus it is advisable to run the engine at slow speeds to minimize the effect of bad oil on moving parts.

Thats why I practice engine oil replacement @ 50km ODO

When I had bought Pulsar 200, I had drained the oil with 50km on the ODO. I had observed that the oil was black yet the viscosity felt just right. What was concerning was that I had also noticed some tiny shiny materials in it (most probably metallic).

Armed with new oil (no new oil filter), I promptly drained the factory filled oil and refilled the mineral oil. The plan is to get the oil replaced again as per manufacturer recommendation @950-1000km. However, this time with the Suzuki the drained oil did not have any shiny metal parts in it, but the oil was black and dirty for sure.

Took the bike to office (25km ride), the engine felt much smoother, silent and the gear shifting had smoothened, didn’t notice vibration @4krpm prominently.

I have ridden total four trips to office since the oil change, I’ve been riding normally like I would ride any bike. (As far as I’m concerned running in is over). These are my impressions:
                          1. Bike is stable at all speeds it is capable of going
                          2. 110kmph on the speedo is piece of cake
                          3. Once triple digit speed is achieved if the throttle is let go fully and then again a mild throttle is given ( let’s say the least throttle that’s practically possible) the bike settles at a speed of 80kmph
                          4. Can’t comment on handling right now because I’m riding in the flat lands of Rajasthan
                          5. Ground clearance is adequate to cross any abnormal hump, mild off-roading is doable
                          6. There is an intake growl which one can hear in the midrange and top end if the throttle is opened wider, it sounds delicious yet gentlemanly
                          7. Can’t cross most humps, big potholes in 3rd gear, should shift down to 2nd if one doesn’t want the engine to shut off abruptly
                          8. It seems like the clutch full disengagement happens only when the lever of fully compressed, needs a minor adjustment, may be gear shifting will become smoother if done.
                          9. As many of you have mentioned, the visor is useless, I don’t plan to go for aftermarket visor as I can live with this much wind blast.
                          10. 6 gear is not too tall, there is enough life in the engine in top gear, can-be used for overtaking, I like it this way for daily use.
                          11. The stock mrf revs tires are not the best, I had Michelin street radial in my Pulsar.
                          12. Brakes are average.
                          13. I’m not enjoying the switch from halogen to led, heck I like the dispersed light of the olden days.
                          14. I would have wished the seat to be a little narrower and allow the legs to be closer to each other (like r15v2).
                          15. In this deep winter, I offer no comments on engine heat management.
                          16. 100kmph is achieved at 6500~6750 rpm (least count is 250 rpm)

                          @500km on ODO

Honestly, I am not able to make up mind, for now I have decided to live with stock visor. I have not been able to do any long ride (>15km of highway at a time).

More than anything it is dangerous to open any of the body panels for modifications.
Today I visited Suzuki showroom to get the mirrors tightened in place as it was not staying in place. To tighten a simple nut, the base of the mirror had to be removed, I noticed that while putting it back the holes were not aligning, they had to pull and align. Doing it again and again may ruin the threads. This kind of minor misalignment is common in this kind of elaborate body works. Hence I will not be getting after market visor fitted until windblast become completely unbearable.

                          @550km ODO

Today I visited Suzuki to get the clutch lever replaced

This is my son looking at the replacement with interest

The mechanic damaged the plastic cover on the clutch cable end "cyl. cast"

The more and more I see the state of work skills in general in India, ASS in particular I feel going DIY is only way to ensure at least minimum care and quality.

It seems I was wrong and the headlight throw alignment needs no adjustment. It is just that LED lights are inferior, no amount of alignment will help.

Meanwhile I measured fuel efficiency using Full tank to full tank method.

Meanwhile, I measured the fuel efficiency through Full tank to full tank method. I got 31.85 kmpl which I feel is par for the course. I have spared no expense to keep my daily commute entertained .

I find seating ergonomics for my commutes, no problem there too.

                          @650km ODO

I got the first service done, I received tool kit & owner's manual as well as I had not received it at the time of delivery.

Snaps of some important information in the manual:

                          Technical Specification of the bike

                          Specification of the sparkplug

                          Important Torque specification

                          Fuses

Recommended engine oil and the alternatives

Correct method of engine oil level check

                          Engine Break in procedure

The reason for early first service is that I am eyeing a longish ride on Republic Day.

I had leftover 700ml Mineral oil with me, hence I asked the ASS to use 1L of semi syth Ecstar oil and use 300ml of mineral oil.

The bike was getting washed, I was waiting in the lobby reading through the owner's manual. When I entered service area after 15 minutes the mechanic remarked that the service is complete and ready to go.

Intuitively I felt something was wrong. I asked him "How did you replace the oil filter so fast?, one needs to remove fairing for that". He said that no need to remove the fairing only one bolt needs to be removed to accesses the oil filter cover.
Then I asked him to show the removed oil filter, he couldn't find it in the oil pan, got the oil filter cover opened again, found that the oil filter had not been replaced.

I am disheartened by the dishonesty, sheer incompetence of mechanics employed by ASS. I would have carried out the first service by DIY but decided to visit showroom to maintain service record. I have made a mental note to stand vigil at all times in future.

I got the saree guard removed as well, got a Suzuki key chain complementarily (because I asked for it).

This is how the bike looks without saree guard.

ID:	2229559 Happy Republic Day Folks,

Today myself and my wife decided to visit Sambar lake which is approx 100km from home. This route has a stretch of 50km of GQ highway each way. This is my first “longish” ride and also it is first ride for my wife in this bike.

Now that the official first service is over with both oil and oil filter replaced, I was longing for a fast run on the highway, to observe the ride on the highway and see how would the bike perform during a long highway stint. In short I am fully impressed.

                                Engine

Picks up speed with no fuss, no pesky peaky torque curve, not much vibration as well. The party starts after hitting the ton. I can confidently say that the bike can hold 15 to 20 kmph over hundred all day long without break. At 100, the engine is silent and running at just over 6500rpm, it sounds and feels like the engine is unhappy to go slow and keeps asking for more. If someone wants silent and most relaxed ride he can cruise at 100. Someone like me who enjoys a little bit of engagement with the motor would like to hold 115 to 117. Also it’s perfectly within the capability of this motor to hold on to 125~130 for 15- 20kms at a stretch (Bangalore-Hyderabad highway comes to my mind).

                                Suspension

I weight 63kg and my wife who was sitting in pillion seat is lighter than me. We didn’t have much luggage save for about 2L of water. At cruising speeds the suspension felt like in a premium European cars. There is always a constant suggestion from the bike that the suspension is stiff but at cruising speeds any undulation or bumps are rounded off nicely such that it never becomes uncomfortable. Like we have seen in cars many times this suspension proves to you that the springs need not be cushy and wallowy to be comfortable. I would give 9/10 for highways and 7/10 for rural roads. I have still not been able to do proper cornering.

                                Wind protection
Honestly, I was not conscious of wind blast until I started writing this post. That makes it clear to me that the windblast, even at such high speeds does not bother me in this bike. Your mileage may vary.

                                Brakes
During normal highway riding condition, the brakes did not stick out in its experience, felt just normal. However in rural roads, I felt brakes are weak. If I spotted any humps later than I should have it can be taken for granted that I’d not be able to shed enough speeds. I need few thousands of km to decide if it’s really a problem worth resolution or it’s something adaptable.
