Ask for a better discount. Somewhat approx 1.2 - 1.3 lakh on road should be enough considering you are to be second owner and the bike was test ride unit. Cheers!

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I am looking to purchase this motorcycle. One of the dealerships around my area in Goa is offering me test ride unit, BS4 (make 2019, registered 30th March 2020) variant of this motorcycle with 40k off on the on-road price. The odometer read 113.2. I took the motorcycle out myself and it felt really good but then I do not have any riding experience to compare with as I've only ridden the RE Classic 350. An old mechanic took the bike out and told me that the bike is performing good but will need some servicing as it hasn't been maintained by the showroom. The showroom is ready to offer me the service and the 5 year warranty on the motorcycle along with it.

Should I go ahead and purchase it ? What about the initial breaking in ? Since it is a test ride unit, it surely would've been revved really hard and I don't trust the odometer readings. Would it create problems in the long run if I do purchase the bike ?

Not sure if the owner will be ready for a cost that low. With the 40k off, it will come to around 1.6x. However, I'll do my best to bring it down as low as possible once I test it again after the servicing is done. Thanks !

        Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF250

I purchased the BS6 model for a 10k discount at 1.98 lakh. The hike was approx 7k for BS4 to BS6 transition and it seems Goa RTO taxes are approximately 10k higher than Gujarat. So anything like 1.4 lakh should be a good price (I am approximating BS4 bike costed about 2.1 lakh on road and dealerships can offer upto 15k discount including exchange value thus bringing price to 1.95 lakh).
Also in the start pages of this thread, people have gotten a great discount on new bikes when dealers were selling off BS4 inventory.
I was getting a deal on a used Gixxer SF250 with approx. 5500 km for 1.2 lakh (2020 registration)

I've tried for 2 days now but he won't budge from 1.60. Should I just go for it ? I really liked the bike but it being a test ride unit is what concerns me.

I think if you can afford a new bike then better go for that. Or else look for privately owned second hand bike.

              Re: Suzuki Gixxer SF250

I understand your concern but if you are on a tight budget then you can go for it as it has just clocked 113 kms. Even if abused, there wont be any lasting damage so soon or anything serious, nothing 2 services and good oil wont fix. As to tampering with the digital unit, its not impossible but very rare as it requires a lot more hassle than an Analogue unit.

                Pros:

                1. Engine:
                a. It looks rock solid /reliable and seems to run forever. I have done 3 -500+ kms so far and i can vouch for its touring capabilities.(highway)
                b. Almost no heating issues. I have ridden continuously for 2 hrs at 6k Rpm+ and there is no feeling of heat at all. Even in traffic the heat is very negligible.
                c. Both mature and fun. The engine is very mature and user friendly at <5k rpm, parallely it is very fun to ride post 6k rpm
                2. Comfort:
When riding on highways it is a pure bliss. The rider seat is so spacious and the ergonomics is also perfect.
                3. Low maintenance:
All the 3 services costed me around Rs.800/-
                4. Looks:
This is personal but every single time i come across my bike, I admire its beauty despite being 9 months with me.
                5. Tyres:
To have upgraded from commuter segment, this 150 section radial tyre feels very sticky to me. And also it seems that it will wore out after 20000 kms only.
                6. Stability:
The bike is unbelievably stable at high speeds and the brakes are good.

                Cons:
                1. Suspension setup:
In touring and commuting perspective, i feels that the suspension is hard to my liking. I am feeling stress on my back when ridden on average roads.
                2. WIndblast:
Post 110 kmph it becomes very nasty due to wind. Unable to use the engines capability to cruise at higher spees.

                Touring review:
So far i have done three 500+ kms tours and a lot of 200+ kms rides. The following are my views

                Engine:
The engine is very apt for touring. I particularly prefer a sporty touch to the engine so that the ride is engaging and the gixxer gives it. The engine is torquey enough at low speeds at high gears and fun to ride at RPMs above 6k. ALso the engine is stress free for the whole day. The buzz feeling is present above 7k rpm but with riding gears it is hardly noticeable.

                Cruising:
The bike feels the smoothest at 5k-6k rpm (75 kmph-90kmph)
At 6k-8k rpm(90kmph-120 kmph), it is lively and engaging. You can take it upto 130 kmph if you can handle the windblast.
The engine can surely deal with 120 kmph all day long.

                Comfort:
The seat is adequately spacious and the slightly forward leaned posture is a delight. I use a gel padded cycling shorts and with that 600 kms ride not so cruel on the bum part. With this posture and wind's help, there is almost no pressure on wrist.
But if you think of taking a pillion, 100kms is going to be a very long trip for them.

                Lighting:
The headlight is not the best for touring but definitely okay. If you do tours on night regularly auxiliary lights are a must.

                Suspension:
The suspension is hard to my taste and it is perfectly fine if ridden on good highways.
On bad patches, it is really difficult.

                Wind protection:
The wind protection is there till 80 kmph only. The wind protection from fairing is present all the way till top speed, the bike feels grounded at high speeds.
But the wind protection for the rider is almost none. Even at 100 kmph, there are reasonable wind blast and above 120 kmph, it is too much. The chest part we can float it in the wind force but the neck keeps turning. Need to find a solution for this.

First Service done at 800 odd kilometers.
Engine oil changed to Ecstar R9000 Full Synthetic and oil filter change. If you have used any other engine oil and can recommend it, it would be great.
The company recommends engine oil change at 4000 km while the mechanic recommended that I get it changed every 2500 km for better engine reliability. If someone can throw some light on it!
Also Suzuki DC socket installed and Suzuki original Seat cover. The tank pad graphics are absolutely useless.

Frame Sliders : A modification shop quoted about 1500 INR for frame sliders. The guy said that a bracket is to be mounted near the engine area on which the frame sliders are to be mounted. Did not take the bike so could not get a clearer picture.
Has anyone here installed frame sliders? If yes, how is your experience and what was the cost involved?

I purchase gixxer 250 naked in second hand although bike was ran only 700km and registration too was of feb 2020, recently i have notices that when riding at constant rpm the engine starts running a bit rough ( like fuel is about to get over) Specifically around 3000 to 4500 rpm band. Is it just me or anybody else is also facing same problem. Kindly help.

                        My two cents here!
                        1. Windblast past 90 kmph.
                        2. Comfortable for long hauls. Though some stress on right wrist.
                        3. Didn't heat up. Almost 2 hours of highway run with rpm above 6k and no discernible heat from engine. Now this needs to be tested in our hot summer months.
                        4. Reasonably good fuel economy at about 40kmpl.
                        5. Some instability at cross winds but not a lot.
                        6. Ground clearance is good. Like it works for our pothole ridden roads and those random surprises.
                        7. Braking is okay. It works. Go check out other bikes if that is your topmost priority.

Haven't faced such a problem. I do have seen that in 6th gear the speed gets to 66kmph and doesn't increase unless I give more throttle. Its like satan's own speed with 6th gear and 66kmph. There are vibrations and engine sounds harsh at this speed (resonance maybe?) and as soon as I get above 67 kmph, the engine gets smoother.

Its like inconsistent fuel supply making the engine rev a bit high and low, a minor fluctuation but noticeable. Next week will visit service center and keep posted about it.

                              Ahmedabad?
I visit the Krishna Suzuki at Paldi. The mechanic over there is Chirag Pawar.
Also I would recommend changing your fuel station if you have inconsistent performance in all your vehicles.
