Anyways to answer your question Gold star silencer i dont like personally. I will go in for short bottle one. As other experts in this forum advised not to go in for these after market silencer before 3k. Put it after 3k kms. Im going by there advise. waiting eagerly for my 3k kms to complete.
Regarding reliable source. i dunno. In one of bangalore signal another chap next to me had thunderbird with short bottle silencer. he also replaced it after 3k kms. He informed me in jc road we have a signal. instead of taking a right turn at that signal towards urvasi theatre go straight. towards right side there is a small passage where there are 3 shops. Alll genuine. silencer ranges from 600 Rs to 3k. He had put 800 ones and it was very loud. I prefer mild thump rather being loud. And the current one is very low. go n select as per your choice.
In team-bhp forum there was ad put for original gold star silencer by the person who manufactures himself. he asked for 1.3k for silencer and 300 rs courier charges. looks geniune but i cant gaurantee you nething. if you want have a look at it. Im planning to visit JC road next weekend as this weekend im going for a long trip. by the time i get back i should have easily crossed 2.5k kms. lets c. if want to sync up with me while purchasing the silencer PM me your number. will go JC road together.

@hussler, finish the running in of the bike.. let it go thru the first few services, then get the exhaust changed.. the free flow exhaust can cause pitting or burning of the exhaust valves if installed on a new engine ( in extreme cases, but why take a chance )

Silencer?
So you guys change the silencer jut for the THUMP? I just got my TBTS 3 days ago, and already done 400kms. It's hard to stick to the RUN-IN procedures, but I have no option but do it. They say, "you could fiddle with your girlfriend, but not your wife!"
Help me here. I personally think the stock silencer looks and feels great, except that now at signals, I need to be looking at my silencer too just to check no one's kissing it. It'll probably be a while before I get used to this new way of riding, after 5 years on my trusted and never betrayed Pulsar 150.
I do intend to get a TEFLON coating done. Suggestions on whether to do it or not are welcome please. And what would be the recommended precautionary step to ensure the rims don't get rusted???
Help puhhllzzz.

No need for TEFLON coating in Bullets. I ride a eight month old Standard. All you need to do is to wash her every fortnight and wax polish her every month. I use an AMWAY car shampoo for washing and FORMULA1 car wax for waxing. As an additional precaution on chromed/buffed parts, I use a dry cloth to scrap away mud, if any, on the rims, spokes etc., in between the washing schedule.
My eight month old Standard looks as if just out of showroom
. See photo in my profile. TEFLON will make us overconfident and neglect our bullets so that rust will creep in and it will be too late...

Got my TB
Hi guys,
I got delivery of my new ThunderBird today. It was really exciting when I kicked it to life in 2nd kick
But I didn't like the horn. It's very low n unlike the bull. Any suggestion for horn changes?
And also precautions in this run-in period apart from 45-50 speed limit?Stabl'ised by: BlackCat (FZ-16), BlackBird (ThunderBird)

Congragulations on getting your Royal Enfield. Running in care well, Don't ever lug the engine from a low speed in a higher gear, always make sure you are in the right gear. Vary throtle input, baby the bike for the first 1k kms and then ride kinda vigoursly for the next 1 k. And mandatory oil/oil filter element change at 500 kms. Is what I can think of.Originally posted by ayushkant View Post

already clocked 180 km in 24 hours
May be going for the 1st service this Sunday. The bike is good but I think it's having low idle RPM as it gets stalled at couple of times in traffic signal.

Decided to buy a used T-bird for 68K!!!
Guys decided to buy a used 2008 November T-bird which has done 29,500 till date for 68K. The bike is maintained well with a single user, the owner is planning to buy a classic 500. Primary sprocket, secondary sprocket, drive chain, front and rear tyres are all changed. Now have a little issue with self start which the owner will fully repair before delivery. Engine was idling smoothly at 1200 K and the silencer is electroplated on the inside to give a monstrous thumb.
Did a test drive on the bike for about 20 kms on city to know the maneuverability
. Bike just wants to go straight and leaning is the way to ride it. Just loved the seating position and way the bike handles, unlike the standard bullets, T-bird is a little higher revving engine rite. But to me the torque seemed too high on first two gears and later 3 gears are pulling the bike to 80 Kmph speeds in no time. And one issue thats bugging me is that when i close the throttle completely, I can hear some rattling like sound(Not the sound of tappets) like a metal grinding(I think its the chain cover and rear suspension)? The rear suspension seemed a little hard. And on the first two taller gears the sound of tappets is comparatively higher than others, is that generally same to all T-birds? Have decided to take this one for 68K
, the amount is reasonable rite
?

Amount is reasonable only after confirming with a local mechanic on what causing the sound if it is a major issue which needs more money to fix then you can bargain moreOriginally posted by Anupdas View PostGuys decided to buy a used 2008 November T-bird which has done 29,500 till date for 68K. All the dealings was by a trusted local mechanic(specialized in R.E), he said the owner does all the services are replacements regularly
. The sound i mentioned is not coming from engine but some other component in the right rear side. When i looked there rear suspension and chain cover was vibrating, I think it is the source. Can anyone please confirm it?
