I need you advice on PDI of TB..In case if I found some defects what I should do?.. please guide me...
I did not know RE stopped delivery of old model. In that case I see you have no choice. Regarding defects found during or after PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) I have narrated my experience in this blog in the past, I'll give you a shortened one. Obviously if you find any defect during PDI, you will get it fixed before delivery. The problem comes when you discover a problem in the initial 7 days of your ride. Do not do the mistake of keeping the new bike in your house as a show piece

There is always a high chance the dealer will fix all issues in the first week from date of purchase. I had heavy fuel loss from the drain pipe because the float in the carburetor was stuck due to dirt. I had a dead/weak battery, blown out silencer gasket and a leaking front left shock absorber. The Carburetor and battery was fixed day 1 of usage. Silencer Gasket was replaced during first service. Leaking shock absorber was never acknowledged of fixed by RE.

Just dont be soft with them. Test riding your bull for few kilometers before delivery will hardly reveal if any fault exists. Use it everyday. Use every feature available even if you dont want to use it.

Hope this helps. I cant wait for a picture from you

Edit: Oh I seem to have forgotten the faulty Trip meter which fixed by itself after 3000Kms which RE refused to acknowledge as a fault or replace. And if your silencer gasket goes Kaput (which is supposed to last at the least 10000Km) please find a Yamaha Silencer Gasket and replace it. The RE one is nowhere close to our Japanese counterpart.

***My argument is not with the product, but its manufacturer and its business ethics*** The RE Thunderbird is truly made like a gun! No doubt! You will enjoy the ride of your life.

Thank you for your inputs on PDI of TB ...Bike is ready for delivery but I will be taking the delivery of the bike on Wednesday after coming back from Kerala. My friend got his TB500 yesterday.I was unable to do a ride since I was late to catch my bus to Kerala. There is lot of improvement in the build quality of new TBs and the showroom manager informed that the CL500 bookings reduced, who ever booked the CL500 now they are choosing TB it seems .Will post the Pics and reports of both 500 and 350 once I receive my bird...How is your bike doing after changing the engine oil to fully-synthetic?..any difference in performance?

        • My bird crossed 6,000 kms recently and is due for 3rdrdthrd free service coupon and they might take the 4th. In my case no big sprays nor drops soiling the ground, just a few stains on the engine . Fuel efficiency is 42-45 in city conditions.

          • Guys,

I have booked TB350 last week and the dealer said i can get it before december 12 as my birthday was on 12.

I have crush on TB500 too. But my purpose are city driving daily like 40km a day. Some times more than 60km a day. And i do touring rare like once in two months.

And I also need mileage atleast 30+ in city driving. Whether tb350 is right choice or shall i move to tb500?

Which suits me in these two tb350 and tb500

Because according to the manual 3rd servicing will be done at 6k kms or 180 (+ or – 15) days whichever comes earlier. I bought it on April 30th and it’s already crossed the due date so I think ASC guys will not accept the 3rd free service coupon and they might take the 4th coupon. So, in that case warranty will be void as there’s a rule that warranty will be applicable only if all the free services are done according to the schedule. So what shall I do now? I hate the work of ACS’s so shall I get it serviced outside? If yes, then does anyone know a good RE mechanic in hyderabad/secunderabad? I heard a mechanic named Sudhakar at Ranigunj, Sec’bad does a great job. Does anyone here know him?

Coming to the ownership experience, it’s a fabulous machine and is going great. Except for an electrical problem 2k kms back (caused by a broken wire) no problems what so ever, except for the trademark oil leaks. In my case no big sprays nor drops soiling the ground, just a few stains on the engine . Fuel efficiency is 42-45 in city conditions.
                Dear friend,

It is necessary that you service your bull as prescribed in the manual. Or you need to have a close relationship with your bull, read its signs and symptoms from engine sound and other moving parts - So you know when it needs to go out to service. As your bull is still in warranty, I suggest you follow the manual. Engine oil Motul 15W 50 needs replacement only once in 6000Kms. Or if the oil is 6 months old, I recommend you change the oil & oil filter regardless of how many KMs you have travelled. Its totally up to you if you want to service your bull outside and void the warranty. If you have an inside man in the service center, your bull might get royal treatment.

If you want to know about mechanics in Hyderabad, there is information here in xBHP, try googling. Else give me few days, Ill contact my fellow bull friends and let you know where they get it serviced.

I concur with you, the mileage of TBTS is remarkable. You can avoid those stains on your engine by doing a full engine repacking. They will just do a re-Seal. (Make sure they dont fiddle with anything else inside the engine) I highly recommend every 12-15000Kms on a bull. Mine was done at 14500Kms. The Engine seal that that was applied by the Service center (@6000Kms) did not last for more than 3000Kms. The second time I got the engine sealing done from outside. Till date, the engine exterior looks dry like dust. As you have covered only 6000Kms I would not touch the engine yet.

                Regards,
                MAK

I am expecting my Thunderbird 350 within the next 10-12 days.. Hoping that my dealer lives up to his word!

By the way, can anyone recommend a good quality polishing wax which I can safely use to maintain the glossy look of my Thunderbird?

Formula 1 Carnauba Car Wax or Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax.

Its difficult to find original ones of these. Waxpol Scooter polish is the cheap and best. Costs ~30 bucks

Goldstar from sans is really good. I got a glasswool goldie from them and I'm loving it, though the quality of chrome is of very poor. All the best on your mods.
