I was shocked to hear this from the salesperson.. When almost every other dealer elsewhere has been saying a waiting period of 2 months (for old model booked customers), this new showroom dude has already gone ahead and delivered 11 bikes within 20 odd days!!
F***ing Hell !!! This can't be true. I haven't seen a single one on roads of Pune. You're kidding, right !? If not, I'm hell disappointed with Dhone.
I must rush to that showroom now....

I spoke to Santosh Dhone yesterday. Apparently, he says that I shouldn't read too much into the 11 deliveries made by the new dealer, because those deliveries were intended to be for review/tests type purposes. He claims the company had approached him too, but he declined to sell the intended-for-review-basis bikes to his customers.. He says that the company will use the feedback obtained from the ppl who have been delivered the 11 bikes, to correct any flaws/shortcomings present in the production. I'm not quite sure I agree with this whole funda. I mean, if customers have been SOLD bikes, then they should be given 100% quality bikes. Why make guinea pigs out of few customers for the purpose of testing/ownership reviewing etc? This can be done much before the launch right (and I'm sure it will have been done). I most certainly wouldn't like to be a guinea pig customer who's been sold a bike, based on whose experience the company will further iron out flaws and then better the next batch of bikes. I might as well opt for a bike from the subsequent batches then...once these ppl are done with all their ownership review testing thing n all...

Anyway, Nov 21 is when deliveries will begin (this is what he said). To which I replied "so I guess that pretty much rules out getting a delivery during Diwali". To this he said "Ummm...Let's see how things happen...Maybe if things happen fast from the company's end then it may happen etc etc". As for me, he has told me that I should be receiving mine in the last week of November or latest by 2nd week of Dec.

PS: The test ride bike is expected sometime in the coming week, he said..

Let's see how true to their word these guys are..

                • Oh!! Thank you very much for this info indeed parasharj. So i guess it would not be such a good idea to go and get my bike in diwali after all huh?? I guess I should wait for the second batch as well... I wouldn't mind waiting a little longer as opposed to being a guinea pig customer either.

                  • But what is it that comp. is testing ? There is nothhing apart from some cosmetic changes and some feature additions/upgrades, which is gonna affect the performance/handeling in any aspect...

Today's update: Just returned from my dealer. Finally, he had a TBTS 350 for a test ride (which I rode for the 2nd time, just to relive the joy). There were also a couple of TBTS 500's in the basement (One matt finish, one glossy). The matt finish was to be put up for display, while the glossy one was to be delivered (this is what the attendant who was polishing the bike said). Now this has gotten me confused once again. I'm not so sure about the testing/reviewing/feedback theory anymore. I think these deliveries are regular deliveries which are being made to the dealer's "special customers", who obviously enjoy higher priority than other normal customers like me. I don't think there could be any other explanations to it.

By the way, to those who had asked earlier, yes, the matt black color has NO WARRANTY. There is a sticker right on top of the fuel tank which says "This color is not warranted by Royal Enfield".
