  • First problem

after 4100 kms of happy thumping, today my bird refused to start. used it last on saturday and it was perfect that day and today electricals are not working fuses are good , battery is good (got it checked) but still its behaving as if the battery's low/dead. sometimes the neutral light is glowing weak and when i press the self start or indicator buttons its going off/on and after some seconds going completely dead. kick starting dint work either . went to nearby showroom and they told me to call up the service center and they'll pick up the bike from my home and repair it. anyone here faced similar problem ?

Hey loner, i have faced a similar problem with my bike. My fuse had blown out, so a local mechanic did a temporary make-shift job and connected the terminals directly with copper wire. After riding like this for a few days, i observed that sometimes the neutral light would dim slightly when the handlebar was kept in a certain position. Later, i found out that the wiring near the headlight holder had burnt and copper wires were coming in contact with the headlight holder, causing short circuit. Somehow i managed to take my bike to asc by stuffing a piece of cloth between the exposed copper wires and the healight holder frame, had to get the wiring replaced totally as it was beyond repair, they could not find the initial short-circuit which caused the fuse to blow in the first place anyway.

Long story short, i think u might be having a short-circuit. Look out for it and also try to remember if u can smell any odour of burnt material while riding ur bike. Hope u get ur problem solved

as far as i remember there was no such smell that day. fuses aren't blown, but even tried changing to spare ones and even connecting the terminals directly but dint work. in between, the neutral light glowed a couple of times that's all. visibly the wiring is intact. called up the asc guys and they'll be coming soon. btw, how old is your bike in kms ?

cool. which gps ? how much did they charge you for the wiring job ?

service guys came today. checked the fuses, wiring etc but were unable to locate the problem. they said it might be a wiring problem and it'll cost me around 1500 bucks in case the wiring needs to be replaced and its not covered under warranty . they took it to the service center located 15 kms away from my place by pushing it all the way with an electra . it might be repaired by friday or saturday.

heheheh...transporting it in a trolley is aint cheap. it'll cost too much. moreover how to lift a 200 kg bike into a trolley ? i was like when they told me how they'll push it, but they assured me they're well experienced and i had to agree. i followed them to make sure they wont wreck it . well, talks went smoothly and lets see what happens.

thanks dude. i havent gone to ramkote yet. planning a small ride this weekend, so the fuel lock would be quite necessary!

Oh..... btw, almost forgot to mention, i got my gps and have tried fitting it to the bike. The whole setup does work, but i have made some mistakes while ordering the equipment. For one, the charger i got from ideaforge gives only 5V output while i require 12V, so charging takes place very slowly. Plus, the universal cradle i ordered does not allow me to plug the charging pin into gps. Its perfect for mobile phones though. Am thinking of ordering a separate cradle online, but i will have to go through some site like icc world i think. This is turning out to be a rather costly experiment! gps is awesome though, a garmin for 8.5k sure made my day

                            • Thunderbird tyres fitted with classic tyres

                              To The TBirds Clan,
I owned a 1999 CBZ Hero Honda. Bike is still in good condition. One word to express about the bike is "Endurance". Very trustworthy. A bike than you can depend on and off-road too. However, I would like to upgrade to the most iconic brand of the Country i.e. Royal Enfield TBTS 350. But before doing that I have some queries that only the TBTS Clan can help me:
                              1. Will changing the rear and front tyres to a that of a RE Classic be compatible.
                              2. Will there be any difference in maneuvering the Bird on bend turnings.
                              3. If I am going to use the TB for an off-road purpose, what tyres will best fits?
                              4. I would prefer to have it lower than the usual height.
                              "on eagles' wings"
