when i asked him the same thing he replied "saab, engine ko 80 thousand pe kholte hai. agar sound kam kara diye toh 45-50 thousand pe kholna padega.." apart from this he dint give any further clarity.Originally posted by kantu View PostEngine Life is only 80k kms ? I read it wrong. There are two tic tic sounds that come from the engine. one is the starter motor. what u are talking about is the auto decompressor. Theres nothing you can do about it. U can remove it completely but that wont be very nice for the engine. if you feel the noise is more than it usually should be then it could be a loose auto decomp cam nut.Originally posted by anindyameister View PostWhat is a starter ?? Is it a moving part ?? Where is it located ? I think the sound is coming from the rocker box, but i'm not sure about this.

Exhaust replaced--> low top end
A few days back i had replaced my TBTS exhaust with a semi free flow glasswoolgoldie. a few days ride i realised my bird could only do 105 tops. This could mean I'm running lean and need to put my carb at a richer setting. However when i place my hand at the back of the exhaust i can smell unburnt petrol. does this mean it runs rich at low RPM and lean at high? do i need to change my main jet?

You should write this in thumper section, only there you would get more better answers from experts!!!Originally posted by akshayrbk View PostA few days back i had replaced my TBTS exhaust with a semi free flow glasswoolgoldie. a few days ride i realised my bird could only do 105 tops. Is there any one who knows about the button tires.
I have fitted the button tire in my TBTs.
My handle bar has started shaking a lot.
Is this due to the button tire.
Any idea.
Is there any one here who had faced this issue before.______________________________________________________________

Do you mean button pattern tire ? The most popular button pattern tire for enfields is the MRF Meteor. Search in the forum here and the other popular auto related site, you'll see it has pretty bad reviews. Especially when there's water on road. Can't say about any other brand cos only the meteor comes in 110mm width 19inch dia which is a direct fit. 120m width tires will touch the swingarm. And it's a shame the michelin sirac comes in 18 inch dia. Which one did you get ?? And what sort of modification you had to for it ??Originally posted by surajit09 View PostIs there any one who knows about the button tires.

Cut down on the fuel screw and see if your bendpipe is getting blueish or not. Also inspect the central electrode of the spark plugs for the engine condition. Black means unburnt carbon= too rich carb setting, light brown (biscuit color)= optimal, burned out white= too lean carb setting. You might try making the intake free flow as well by fitting a K&N filter.Originally posted by akshayrbk View PostA few days back i had replaced my TBTS exhaust with a semi free flow glasswoolgoldie. a few days ride i realised my bird could only do 105 tops. Bro I did not get the Metor ... I imported Pirelli MT90 120/80 18" tire from outside.
And this tire has excellent feedback.
It has a speed rating of around 150 km/hr.
And also the road grip is too good. I never felt anything bad on the wet road. The tire holds a lot.
And this is one of the best dual-sport tire in that range of 18".
I changed the rear rim to 18". Thats it. no other modification was done.
actually had an accident a couple of months back. But then the fork was rectified, but then again something is wrong with the handle.______________________________________________________________

Also its pretty sure that the bike that he is talking about is running reach.
And it cannot be like a bike is running reach in the low rpm and lean in the high rpm
go and re-configure your carb. Everything will become ok.
When you are installing a free-flow silencer, you should also tune your carb.
And i would like to say one thing. Installing a free-flow silencer will not make your bike a free flow one.
the bend pipe has chambers, that stops the air.______________________________________________________________

Does changing the rear rim to 18 inch lower the rear height ?? If yes how do you compensate for it ?? Also are you running the stock swingarm with 120 width tire ?? IF yes, is the tire touching it or may touch it when flat ?? Sorry if I sound retarded, but i've been thinking about upsizing for a long time, but there's just no option available in the 19in size. As for the handle vibes, do get your forks and the steering stem bearings checked as the tire is unlikely the suspect.Originally posted by surajit09 View PostBro I did not get the Metor ... All this free flow intake and exhaust is only proven to improve(differs according to perception) the engine output of short stroke overhead cam engines of 150-200cc capacity. I think this is a somewhat sign that free flowing is not a good idea for our RE engines. But then again it might differ from person to person.Originally posted by surajit09 View PostIts not a good idea to go for a K&N filter without changing the jets.

Hi Guys,
I was in hibernation mode from some days (not accessing xBhp) and when I came to life again what I got was a BIG jhatka (rather that jhatka made me to breath again, i mean access this site again...)
So the story starts like this. Was in love with TBTS and wanted to possess one from so long. Tried last year but unfortunately had to cancel my booking for some personal reasons. This time I had made up my mind to get it anyhow, so went to book her @ Dhone Auto, Pune. But the salesperson there gave me some news. So wanted to share/confirm in the community...
1. Silver and Red models of TBTS are discontinued by the company. So now only Black ones are available. (I wanted a Silver one
)
2. TBTS 500 will be available after 11-Oct-2012 and on the same day a new model of TBTS 350 will also be launched.
3. This new model will be a clone of TBTS 500 i.e. matt black color, better headlamp, removable pilon seat and so on...
4. Price will also be increased to accomodate the changes.
5. The new 500 and 350 will be sharing an all new engine (!?) which will be fitted in TBTS only. All other models like classic, electra will continue using UCE engines only.
Now the confussion is, if the news about new 'engine' true ?? If yes, why wasn't it leaked in the market (or did I missed it ?
) How reliable will that be ?
@ MODs: Yeah, I know I've used too many smileys. But please excuse. Couldn't resist myself as this is my first post after re-designing the forum.

I have booked existing TBTS 350 and expecting delivery in December.
AFAIK silver & red were still available but didnt hear any news about TBTS 350 getting a facelift.
Now I am confused, what if they launch new 350cc in next year
Argh !!!

When have you booked TBTS 350 and where? I got this information yestreday. As per salesguy, bookings for silver and red are discontinued since last month. Those who've booked earlier will get their desired color. Only new bookings are not going to take place.Originally posted by kantu View PostThat is news to me !
