When on IO or HP, I used to get 32-35. With Shell I get 40. I always suspected 1 Litre was never one litre with other oil companies. I filled 4 Litres to the dot last week and got 162 KM on the ODO. Had to check Mileage before the LEH ride.

18-20 KMPL is pathetic sorry to say for a 350CC TBTS engine. I hear average of 30 atleast from fellow owners. I get 40KMPL, last time I checked 2 days back. Been getting so since the begining, you can check my older ownership experience posts.Originally posted by projectile View Post

Well when the bike was new , I used get 40+, but same is the case with 4 other tbts owners in my office and 2 std owners.
The svc and other mechs insist that everything is in great condition.i even checked if my odo is at fault.and yes petrol is filled at shell only
3 year old bike. I am at loss for options now.
3 years is a very short time to change an RE.
Is there something I am missing here ?You can only go as fast as you can brake!

I agree with you. Maybe because my bull is only a year old. In time the mileage could drop. I can relate to what you are saying. My Honda Unicorn gave me a consistent mileage of 60 for close to 2 and a half years. The mileage dropped to 50-53 slowly. The engine was in good condition except that it have a problem of over heating.Originally posted by projectile View PostWell when the bike was new , I used get 40+, but same is the case with 4 other tbts owners in my office and 2 std owners.

I cannot compare the mechanics of a Honda and Enfield. But I do understand when you say the mileage dropped in time. I think its time to do an engine overhaul. Maybe It sounds stupid. Or do an Engine decarb.Motorcycle Trip log - Summer ride to N. Sagar | Leh 2012 - A story told in pictures | Winter in Darjeeling 2018 | Summer in Goa 2018 |

Hi Madelikeagun.. Do you have any idea why the waiting period is so high for RE bikes especially in Hyderabad? Classic has a minimum waiting period of 12 months to 18 months and rest all 6 months!!Originally posted by madelikeagun View PostI agree with you. Maybe because my bull is only a year old. Modifying My thunder Bird
Hi All
I am Planning to do a mod on my bike. the plan is as follows :
1-> Change the color of the bike from back to Matte Black
2-> Color the Rims to black
3-> Remove all the chrome from the bike ( dont like Chrome at all ) and paint it Black
4-> Paint the handle Bar to Black
5-> Install a Black Goldie Glass wool silencer.
6-> Change the rear tyre to 18" and the tyre to 120/80
I need some info from you guys. Is there any one who has painted his bike to Matte Black ?
Which company paint should be used ?______________________________________________________________

I would recommend powder coating as against matt color painting.Originally posted by surajit09 View PostHi All

Its a better bond than paint, also matching shades of paint and powder coating is available.
If you feeling exotic, you could try titanium nitride coating, its a ceramic coating on metal, super durable . Comes in gold and black.
Looking forward to your mod.
Cheers!!You can only go as fast as you can brake!

Buddy for you....thanks for guidance.Originally posted by surajit09 View PostYou dont have to check anything.
Just see that there are no rusts on your bike, and the odo meter does not read a huge amount.
And open faced helmets, go to J C Road, and you will find a lot number of helmet shops. There is one just opposite to the Urvashi theater. They have a LS2 half helmet. That is an awesome one. But they are asking for around 3500.
Just go and look into it once. They also have a lot others also.

I cannot tell you why because I do not have an answer. You should ask Royal Enfield about it. Many just like me feel this is just an artificial demand. Again its just what the people think. This is more like becoming a Bajaj Chetak Story or the Tata Nano where you had more than a year's waiting period. A day will come when all this will go away and no one will want a Royal Enfield just because the service centers dont know how to maintain it. If someone tells me, write to him write to her, why should I tell them how to do their jobs. Did I ask them when I wanted to purchase a RE?Originally posted by sairamboko View PostHi Madelikeagun.. Just do us a favour, save some more and go for a Harley. They have easy finance options. Just my opinion.Last edited by madelikeagun; 06-06-2012, 12:19 AM.Motorcycle Trip log - Summer ride to N. Sagar | Leh 2012 - A story told in pictures | Winter in Darjeeling 2018 | Summer in Goa 2018 |

NO Karim bhai. It's not just artificial demand. Why would RE do a stunt like this, when they know that many of the wannabe-RE-owners were not actually going for it for the only reason 'waiting period' !?Originally posted by madelikeagun View PostI cannot tell you why because I do not have an answer. Yes, there is certainly a huge increase in the demand along with RE launching so many new products... But unfortunately RE's current plant is not capable enough to produce them in proprtion to the market demand.
The good news is (it's old now...) RE is expanding their production line and one more plant is on it's way to join RE for enhancing their production capabilities. RE website hosts the news, if one needs confirmation...

Thanks Rahul.. I guess the new plant will solve this waiting period issue... Just now i called my showroom guy and he said he will try to give my TBTS in sept which is good news.. also he told me that TBTS 500 will be launched in July 2nd or 3rd week priced close to 1.8 lakhs.. and he told me if i want to upgrade to 500 he asked to give a call in july 1st week.. on the spot delivery for TBTS 500 it seems.. nearly 15 vehicles are coming to the showroom it seemsOriginally posted by Rahul.Gvli View PostNO Karim bhai. hi sai, nice to hear that you might be getting your ride sooner... but actually, that's a technique used by all dealers to make customer feel happy. see, if your dealer says that the waiting period is 8-10 months, actual period is only 5-6 months max. they add a buffer period of 3-4 months just to make sure that even if there is any delay from company / strike / any other reason, they have enough spare time in their hands. second thing, there can be many cacelations due to which waiting period can be further reduced..
so, happy thumping...

Hi guys
My first servicing for the TBTS is approaching quickly.
The bike is running smoothly, 350 kms till date , no long rides as yet and had never crossed 2K rpm. Engine Sounds ok.
So please let me know in Mumbai which Service station is more prefereble? All mumbai guys please share your opinions specially about the one in Mahim or Kandivali?
What are the crucial things I need to check/ Change?
