so what do you recomend should i change the engine oil immediately or continue with it for next 2500 km and switch back to manufacturer recomended engine oil? and recently my 10 month old thunderbird had developed some major engine problem my bike was lying at the service station for 10 days engine was fully opened and 4000 rupees worth parts were replaced(it is under warranty so i did not pay 4000 rupees) the service station guys told me they had changed gaskets, piston rings, timing gears etc.
Under normal circumstance, I would run the engine with existing oil for the next 2000odd Kms then change back to Manufacturer recommended Grade, Motul 15W 50.

However as you mentioned your engine already has gone through major repair work, I would switch to recommended grade immediately.

The decision is yours to make.

i wouldn't worry too much about it. u havent gone too far with the grade. a lot of members (check engine oil thread) are using the said grade oil, including some of my friends. and since its 20- 50 it only means that it'll be a tad more viscous than the usual oil at low temperature. besides the high end viscosity is the same and the engine oil is meant to run at temperatures above 100C. Besides mumbai heat is nothing compared to north and even rajasthan where bulls are hauled for hours without rest. There's no way to get an exact grade engine oil since they are operated under various conditions.

I am very sorry to hear about your bike condition. You may write an email to customer service and the person listed above. It would be nice to know who these people are and at what capacity they represent Royal Enfield.

Give Royal Enfield Corporate a chance to solve your problem. If you have the money, hire a lawyer specializing in consumer relations. Keep your lawyer posted of all that happens and build a case for damages if Royal Enfield does not solve your issue.

I am very sorry to say, but the service center for RE is the worst. They smile and speak to you politely but that is all they do. They have not fixed the oil leak on my bike and the fork oil leak. I had to get all this fixed from a local RE mechanic. For a manufacturer who gives you only a year's warranty or 10000Kms, I do not expect anything from them because they do not have the confidence the Japanese manufacturers have like giving a 3 year warranty.

Dude did they say this over mail ??
if so then keep this mail with yourself, take a printout, and show it to the service center. And tell them to replace the engine as they have screwed it up.
If not then do the following :
1-> Ask for the job card details that had been entered earlier when they had changed all the parts.
2-> scan them and send it to the emails ids that you have already got, and ask them to justify this.
3-> if they dont reply, then take a printout of all the mails and the job card and put a complain in the consumer forum.
Not online. You have to go to the consumer forum office and put this complain, and mention that you want a replacement.

I am pretty sure that you will get the engine replacement.

Please do click some pics at the showroom. Do a thorough check, especially the notorious dead batteries, and read this forum. Our fellow TBTS owners have penned down a lot of information.
