    Your 1st question:

My personal experience suggests that holding TBTS UCE at above 85 kmph makes it vibrating, though you can still master it holding it above 100 kmph. I have kept it at 105 kmph last weekend for about a minute and apart from vibrating, could not observe any issues.

    2nd Question:

I would suggest that you can do your first servicing after 500km and thereby, you can try out Ladakh. I waited for the second service and thereby, had comfortably done Mangalore-->Kolkata (2345 kms) without any issues.

P.S: Its my personal exp and might vary from person to person.

    Happy Cruising,

ok you mean thunderbird can be driven at 85-90 kph speeds for longer times unlike old bulls .do you face any problems with self starter of the bike and any oil leaks or dead battery.one last thing any abnormal tappett sounds?
thanx again and sorry if i am asking too much (just because it will be my first enfield after honda and yamaha)

        Your 1st Question:

Yes. I have compared with the cast iron counterpart and found to be more efficient in terms of holding it at high speed. But, for longer rides (I mean rides wherein you cover more than 750km per day), I would recommend to maintain 70-80 kmph. In addition, try to change the speed by +10 or -10 kmph rather than holding it at the same high speed.

        2nd Question:

Self starter did not create any problem so far, but it was yestarday when I could observe that the self-starter does not work with high-beam on (I never checked it before). Otherwise, I must say, self-starter is one of the smooth features of TBTS.

        3rd Question:

Oil leak is a major concern. Make sure you ask the machanic to take necessary action. Though not sure, but I have seen the mechanic to put Favicol at the edge.

        No issues with dead battery.
No issues with abnormal tappett sounds.

          • Hello guys, Got my tbts 3 weeks ago, covere 800km till now.

I am having problem with a rattling sound coming from the engine. Asked the mech to fix it in 1st service. But It's still there. Yesterday i showed it a local bullet mechanic and he says this comes with every twin-spark UCE engine and I have to live with it :O

Is it true - the thump has been replicad by this irritating rattling sound? the sound is very annoying and gets into my head :x

Well if the sound is considerable, then try another service center where they'll actually listen to your problem. It might be a loose engine mount or excessive tappet noise. Consistently poor service center experiance is the only consistency across enfield riders in indis. And do not expect the smoothness of jap engines in the UCE. If you are really missing the thump then you can always go for a short bottle or goldie silencer, though I have heard some experienced mechanincs can bring out the thump from stock silencers using glasswool packing, not so sure about this.

don't worry much about it,,,i've clocked 2k km on my bird and the rattling sound has gone down considerably,, also there's more bass to the thump.
My mechanic told me it improves with the the engine wearing and the carbon build up in the silencer.

                    • Now that my bird's run in period is over (which took a lifetime!) i'll be beginning with the long hauls. Gonna need some ammo for that. Does anybody know where i can get accessories like saddle bags, riding gloves etc

For riding gears like gloves, jacket and boots check PlanetDSG : Motorcycle Riding Gear, Accessories, Apparel and.. & Home - BIKES I RIDING GEAR I PERFORMANCE ACCESSORIES I SPARES.

For saddle bags I would recommend - RJays Luggage - BIKES I RIDING GEAR I PERFORMANCE ACCESSORIES I SPARES.

                          • Thanks a ton for the info Bikerboy n Anand!
My budget is 2.5k for the gloves and about 3k for the saddlebags.....
Stumbled upon a beautiful product form get off ur ass: Get Off - The Store
Might go in for these. There's a review on the xkmph website. Also since i'm planning to go in for a classic styled bend silencer in future the design of the saddlebags seems perfect.

As far as the gloves are concerned i still haven't decided on one yet. Will got to Cramster and DSG store the next time im in pune.
I'm looking for all weather ventilated ones which i'll be mostly using for the long hauls...
                            Got any suggestions?

A bullet mechanic (he claims so) took the tyre out and put a patch on the damaged area of the tube and said it done...i dont feel any problems, but is it fine or should i change the tube?...is it possible to change tyre into a tubeless one?
                              Sorry if i was lame

one more thing, when i keep my bike for a long in sun...it starts normal but after i ride like half a km it behaves like theres no petrol and stops...then i need to kick it like 4-5 times wait till it idles and then it rides normal...it happens only when i keep it sun and it happens only once...any suggestions?
                              Please help

                              • At last after a long battle of deciding which bike to take, I booked my TBTS yesterday at Brand Store, Bangalore. They put a booking period of 4 to 6 months...so my long wait is on.
