Thanks buddy, a pic and cost will help me understand it more if you don't mind (when you fix it).
I will check on the cap one whether to go with it or not. Thansk for your views.

I chose, TBTS as I wanted an upright posture for my daily highway commute and no back pain. I am not saying the others will give backache but it entirely depends on one's choice.
I feel no issues driving the TBTS in traffic as well as pointed by people somewhere.
+1 to that. I also don't have any problem riding my bird in traffic. When I hit signal or heavy traffic, I just be patient and do not try to squeeze ahead like other people. And the bend pipe sound is confirmed from the service center to be completely normal.

      • Thanks Anand_PK & anindyameister,

I put on hands on RE before as well but never owned it personally. One last advice want from you guys that should I go for a new one or buy a 2nd hand as I will buying it on loan. And I guess the oil leaking and rear braking issue is not much with newer version of TBTS.

        • Guys I have a big issue. Yesterday I gave my bike for first free service. While taking delivery they said that the chain was tightened. Now today morning i noticed that the chain adjustment cam on the left side was almost halfway turned, while the drive chain side cam was almost at showroom state. Needless to say the no. of notches from the pin do not match. Should I align both the cams ? There is no noticeable wobble while riding though.....

          • Guys what is the maximum load the Tbird can take and still be stress free? Any idea?

A Givi box has a capacity of 35 - 40 litres and Studds Cruiser boxes on either side is another 45 liters. Total 80 - 85 litres easily. The givi is detachable. If a juggad can be done and if the side boxes are also made detachable when needed, it would be really cool. So 80 - 85 litres + rider of 85 kg + pillon of 55 - 80 kg. Can the bull take it? I doubt because in the manual, the maximum payload is mentioned as about 165 kg. I found it insulting

After a fairly long ride when I stop the engine there is a faint metal clicking sound like "tung-tung-tung-tung" coming from the exhaust pipe. I can't locate if it is the bend pipe or the silencer. Just when I stop the engine the sound tempo is the highest, then gradually the tempo decreases and after about 10 mins, the sound vanishes. In between if I hit the bend pipe with something, the sound stops for a second and continues afterwards. Now common sense says that it is the sound of the bend pipe or silencer metal contraction after stopping the engine drops the temperature, but I want a word from you guys just to be completely sure that my bird is not suffering due to my ignorance. Do you guys have the same problem ?? And is this a common thing which is not worth bothering or something sinister ??
Please, this is not a problem. It is the Catalyst convertor that contracts on cooling. It also means your bike is normal. This should be happening and you will hear this sound on al new bikes (upto 2 years old). After which the sound is so faint you dont recognize.

              • When to change engine oil?

Guys I have a 10 month old TBTS and was wondering after how many kilometers I should change the oil...

My last change was at 3000Kms on the odo. I gave for servicing at 5500km and the service guy told you need not have to change oil for 6ooo kms... !! And he did not change the oil despite me asking to change the oil. Now the odo reads 8000Kms(So 5000Kms with out oil change)... Is this stretching too far? Even my manual says to change the engine oil only after 6000Kms

Today I have given the bike for oil change and general servicing to a local bullet workshop guy.. I have had my previous bull taken care of by that guy(named Shankar at Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai), but a little nervous that I had given my relatively new bull to an unauthorized workshop guy

                • Windshield

                  Hi guys,
This is my first post here, I just joined the club. I must say it is quite amazing to see the love you guys have for your machines!

I am expecting my TBTS in a couple of months and planning a long trip after it is properly run-in.

Those with biking experience, is windshield for TBTS a good option for long drives? Pros and cons of windshields?
If it is good, what kind of windshield? Is faring an option for TBTS?

                  Thank you.

                  • I have a question regarding my riding habit. Generally I don't like to shift gears very often. For example when I go over a speed breaker, in second gear I slip the clutch a bit until the momentum gathers and I fully let go. I do this thing quite often when the engine starts to jerk. Is this habit bad for the clutch plates ?? Am I wearing them too much because of my habit ?

Yes, very much. Clutch should be used only to change gears. Bullet clutch is not that forgiving, please use it only when required (i.e. while changing the gear).

                      • Concerns about Ground Clearance.

                        Hi,
I am planning to buy a motorbike in a month or so.
I will be using it for touring as well as daily commuting(25 km) purposes.
I have resolved all other confusions about TBTS.
I have read on various travellogues about road conditions and waterstreams to be crossed.
I am concerned about ground clearance of TBTS(135 mm - RE website) especially that stock silencer look pretty close to ground.
Has anybody faced any problems regarding hitting exhaust in pithole edges or silencer tip going underwater.(anything like that)

                        Thanks in advance.

I have read on various travellogues about road conditions and waterstreams to be crossed. Good thing.. The silence will immerse if you cross a stream, no doubt.

Yes the stock silence is close to the ground but it doesn't hit anything on the road. The only thing that hits a speed breaker when loaded with 2 hefty guys is the center stand.

You can always change the silencer to your choice after say about 6K kilometers. All this is not a big deal at all buddy. Talk about big issues. You are not concerned? That's a good thing, because I'd say forget about everything and go for a TBTS. Everything else will be alright in time
                            Thanks in advance.

does the engine work when silencer is immersed,
if it doesn't then how does a TBTS crosses water streams
                              (dont say rider pulls it).

                              • I am now up to 1200 KM with my birdy, and I really think two upgrades are necessary- first is a rear disk brake and a wider rear tire. Probably will have to change the swing arm to accommodate a wider tire. But I can't do these until the warranty period finishes. Once the four free service are over, I am planning to switch to NGK iridium plugs and Motul 300v Full Synthetic oil. The reason I want to change the rear brake and tire is because rear brake really lacks stopping power and recently with pillion riders, the bike is becoming unstable. Will get the swingarm bushings and rear shocks checked for this, but in the long run, I think the birdy deserves a rear disk and a fatter tire......
