Guys it's been 5 months since I booked my TB and i am expecting a call from the dealer in a couple of weeks to make the full payment. I'd like to know if I should test drive the bull and do the PDI before it goes in for the registration so in case there are issues with the bike I can ask them to fix it or assign another bike from the lot. Is that possible? or do I have to just accept the bike they provide and ask them to fix the issues (if any) before delivery. Please help

Please post pics of your bird...we'd love to see the accessories fitted on ur bird!Originally posted by chotu_r View PostHey, was waiting for someone knowledgable to throw some light on this. my guess is either problem with clutch or play in gears
anyway, do post back with what is actually the problem.
got back the bike from asc and initially the metallic noise was much reduced below 2.5k rpm. now it has been nearly a week since then and noise has returned but not to previous extent. am pondering over what to do..... will see if it increases to previous level in a week or so

Hey! i havent fitted any accessories other than windshield...... that too i removed as it came without any rubber mountings and i wanted to fit them later. trying to fit them this weekend.Originally posted by miltonsimons View PostPlease post pics of your bird...we'd love to see the accessories fitted on ur bird!
apart from that i have only put some leds bulbs in the instrument console, 2 4smd led to just try them out.
i put them only a week ago, so can't say anything about their longevity. just happy with the change in backlight colour. will try with 8smd leds soon. my main reason for trying them is to enable me to check whether the turn indicator is flashing. can't really make it out in daytime with existing bulbs.
i had put philips extreme vision which was recommended in this thread. it went in without any problem, but now after more than 6 months of using it, i have noticed that the reflector is getting burnt. will go for autopal p43t dome if available.
Somehow i am worrying about carb getting gummy in the inside with petrol and waste deposits. does anyone know any carb cleaner or such solvent which i can put in while tanking up with petrol? that would be mighty convenient, dont want to open my carb at this stage!

seems like no one knows about this issue. i'll point it out to my mechanic during next service, which was due quite soon but may take very long because i had a nasty crash 2 days ago and my birdy's pretty bashed upOriginally posted by chotu_r View PostHey, was waiting for someone knowledgable to throw some light on this. my guess is either problem with clutch or play in gears

and so am i . cant repair or use it till i recover fully.
about the uce clatter, the mechanic (non ASC) who serviced my bird said that he can make the noise go away completely. he said that some particular part of the engine needs to be worked upon a lathe machine and as an example he showed me a classic 500 which he worked on and i have to say there was ZERO clatter and engine sounded perfect. i was thinking to ask him do the same job on my birdy but as it was barely 8000 kms old that time and running perfect, i dint want to risk it by opening its engine so i backed off with the idea.
where did u put those led's ? in the speedo console or in the place of the tell-a-tale lights ? how much did they cost u ? where did u buy them ?Originally posted by chotu_r View Postapart from that i have only put some leds bulbs in the instrument console, 2 4smd led to just try them out.

about your carb cleaner, i remember reading the same thing in a website long ago and mr Dilip Bam suggested to fill 50 cc of bardahl injector cleaner to 5 liters of petrol in tank. sadly, i dont know where its available in hyderabad, but i came across a similar product in kacheguda big bazaar but i seriously doubt the credibility of that big bazaar one !!

, hope u get well soon.
Who is this mechanic? Can you post his details here, i will go and visit him. would like to discuss how to minimize clatter
my bird makes less noise when engine is cold, gradually noise increases and becomes like 'sewing machine' sound with some metallic noise these days also thrown in for good measure
i guess reducing uce clatter is everyone's dream here!
about the leds, i dismantled the speedo and instrument console and checked the lights. only t10 base lamps can go inside those. fitted them into speedo and tacho console for now. i got confused intially because other enfields use bayonet base bulbs. u can find these leds on ebay, just search for 't10 led'. i got them from http://www.ebay.in/itm/281062593406?...#ht_500wt_1156 i will get 8smd leds next month
leds are diodes, so if they dont appear to work, just reverse the polarity & also check the wire for contact. Btw, white led is best option as the tell tale indicators have coloured glass........ makes no difference which colour bulb we put !
i will see what additives like carb cleaner are available at petrol bunk when i next tank up. definitely wont buy from a big bazaar without researching about it!

all of a sudden some jerk came speeding in front of me, and to slow down and avoid him i applied disc. unfortunately, while the front wheel was on a puddle of water and the wheel locked. all this happened in a matter of seconds and before i could realise whats going on, i was on the ground, with by beloved birdy resting on my foot. situation might have been different if i had ABS. so thinking to go for a mechanical one, details can be found here Saferide ABSOriginally posted by chotu_r View PostHow did u crash?

i was also thinking about saferide abs some time ago........ but then decided that bullet braking is poor as it is and having a mechanical abs of doubtful
reliability did not make much sense unless commuting on sandy roads. changing tyres would probably give better results. mechanical abs is also made by krp .
ah, coming to the topic of tyres..... new tb350/500 have 120 section 18 inch dia rear tyre. since we cant shift from 19inch dia wheel to smaller size 18 without changing sprockets, it is my pet dream to change the sprockets of my bird to those of new tb along with 18inch wheel. present mrfs are not cooperating ........ look like they will easily last another 20k km!
i will pay a visit to ur mech and say that red tbird wala has referred me to him
btw, u need allen key to open the the instrument console, it is attached to the handlebar clamps with allen bolts. stunner has dc electricals?

it might have, but it was the rear end which fell on me. so thinking to put up rear crash guards, even though they might look silly.Originally posted by chotu_r View Postdidnt ur crashguard save ur legs??

about saferide, well.. someone needs to test it before coming to a conclusion, but sadly i havent read any bullet users reviewing or using saferide. i'll do it and post the results.
these stock mrf's, especially the front ones are good for nothing expect for holding gravel. buddy, if u seriously doubt the reliability of the tyres then go ahead and change them. dont wait for another 20k kms.
yupp, i have an allen key
. naah, stunner has ac electricals.

you would probably be better off with knee guards. looking forward to your review on the mech absOriginally posted by Loner View Postit might have, but it was the rear end which fell on me. so thinking to put up rear crash guards, even though they might look silly.

stock mrfs are at their worst during inital 3k kms. i crashed once during that phase. after that, they are okayish on good roads. summers are not a prob, but i am more worried about the monsoon season.
how are leds running on ac? i have read at several forums that they blow after a short time if run on ac
your stock reflector should last you for quite some time. when you find bubbles etc forming on surface of reflector, time to change it.Originally posted by jayanth_b_p View PostGuys i have replaced my stock bulb with Philips Xstream vision 55/60. actually stunner doesn't have pilot lamps. i did some jugaad and fitted them in the visor and gave power supply from the headlight. its been nearly 6 months and they r still working, but the thing is i use it rarely so cant say exactly whether they reached the blowing point or not.Originally posted by chotu_r View Postyou would probably be better off with knee guards. looking forward to your review on the mech abs

Just wanted to post this random issue........ not an issue as such, but a quirk related to all carbed bikes i think
whenever the petrol level in tank is about to go into reserve, i have observed that engine runs like its on low power mode. since the carb relies on gravity to ensure petrol reaches it from fuel tank, one would assume that with less petrol, the pressure with which the petrol flows into the carb would decrease resulting in less fuel inflow and lesser power. most probably engine will run on a leaner condition.
You could tank up and in return also make yourselves vulnerable to petrol chors out there
. Ah, forgot to mention that fuel lock model commonly available for classic fits our TBs too!
