Congratulations. I think you will be getting the latest thunderbird: The new generation or the latest one which has been launched in the later half of 2012.Originally posted by RT_bird View PostHi All,
I too have booked a TB350 few months back and it is ready for delivery. Please suggest me a crash-guard for it. Also, please share the do's and dont's to keep the machine running for a long time.
I use a 2011 model. I bought the crash guard from the local manufacturer. The same is shown in the picture below. I has saved me from atleast 4 fatal crashes without leaving a single scratch on my leg. Credit partially goes to my ladakh carrier too.
For long time riding, I would recommend you to stop for 10 mins after every 100 kms of ride to refresh yourself as well as the engine. I have done non-stop Mangalore-Goa (374 km on odo) without any issues on the engine, but its better not to push your engine to its limits (personal opinion). My bike has travelled a maximum of 1135 km in a day in 22 hours drive without giving trouble. Try to check the oil-level and air pressure at regular interval (once in 2 hours). As its a 350 cc engine, I prefer to cruise anywhere between the sweet spot of 75-90 kmph. In prolonged night ride, turn on the high beam and indicators and honk to check if the battery is showing any weak nature. It can be gauged from the bahavior of the headlight.
And more often than not, if not always, be yourself. You own a bird: Thunderbird.
Cheers and safe thumping.

LOL... the plate took a hit while reversing in near Nanded during a Traffic jam. I was only able to replace the plate after returning from the trip. However we did do some patch up job. Took a black tape and patched up to look like 'AQ'. Thanks to Poli.Originally posted by chotu_r View Post@madelikeagun i can't help but notice your rear number plate, no cop can catch you seeing your number!
i too must think of such modifications!

Thanks for those helpful tips. Mine is the latest one and RE do not have a crash-guard suitable for their newly designed bird. They says it will take at least 3 months to get them at their showrooms here. The existing crash-guards wont go with it because of its lowered chassis. So got to be more careful till such time it made available for my bird.Originally posted by sakshar View PostCongratulations. Brother, get some jugaad done on your bike and try to get some sort of crash guard fitted. I remember seeing air-fly type crash guard, the one on pictures on this page, on new model Tbirds. Else get a good pair of riding pants with armour. Trust me, you will wish there was something between your legs and the road if and when you crash ...... i speak from experience, my crash guard has already saved my legs once.Originally posted by RT_bird View PostMine is the latest one and RE do not have a crash-guard suitable for their newly designed bird. On another note, would like to know if windshield of below type is available anywhere, preferably in Hyderabad. It seems to have been made just for the bullet and appears to be a bit different from the other windshields i have seen so far. Please dont recommend to search in Ramkote, planning to go there myself soon! would appreciate if anyone could recommend a particular shop though

am also looking to put side boxes on my bird, mainly to keep my riding gear, tools and odd items. was initially dead against the idea, but changed my mind after seeing this pic.

Buddy the existing air fly crash guards fits perfectly on the new Thunderbird. I myself have got it fitted (on my own) on my TB 350. You can have a look from a pic posted by me in an earlier post. The diamond crash guard does not fit properly since it touches the forward placed foot pegs. But the air fly model fits fine.Originally posted by RT_bird View PostThanks for those helpful tips. Do any of the owners of the new TB 350 experience faulty fuel indicator. Yesterday, my fuel indicator showed only one stick while there's still around 6 ltrs of fuel in the tank. To my surprise, this morning it shows half tank!!!
Friends, if you have experience this kind of magic performed by the RE fuel indicators, please share your experiences. Thanks in advance."on eagles' wings"

Digital fuel meter's are highly inconsistent, shows more level when your descending a slope and less when ascending and more when its little tilted as in resting on side stand and all. The most appropriate thing to do would be to ignore this and ride along, when fuel gets empty switch to reserve and fill up, trusting the console for this would be a risky affair.Originally posted by adzeals View PostDo any of the owners of the new TB 350 experience faulty fuel indicator. Of course, one can always replace the sensor, but only to get the same experience after some time.
Cheers

found the shop! unfortunately, today being a sunday, it was closed along with 99% of all shops in the area, luck was not goodOriginally posted by Loner View Postmy bird's self starter problem has been solved. the battery was faulty and i got it replaced under warranty.

did find a few local make windshields in a couple of shops and checked them out. they are available in two sizes. Small size is available for 400 with clamps. Large size which i have seen on some Bajaj Avengers is actually made of two plastic sheets which are joined by nut and bolt. Price is 800. Quality of both windshields is flimsy, definitely not components you would expect to survive a crash, but they are very cheap i guess.
Ah, i have the same problem excepth with analogue meter of TBTS. Usually its quite accurate, but while i was doing a long distance ride, it was showing a bit more than usual. Had a few panic moments when trusting the fuel gauge i ended up in reserve mode on the highway. Usually, i have observed that fuel gauge tends to show a bit more than actual fuel when riding continuously - shows true level after a small break. I attribute this to inertiaOriginally posted by adzeals View PostDo any of the owners of the new TB 350 experience faulty fuel indicator. Nevertheless, have learned not to trust the fuel gauge completely and go by the odometer instead!

I have been experiencing the exact same issue.. Will speak to the RE mechanics at the next servicing. Not sure if they can do anything about it thoughOriginally posted by adzeals View PostDo any of the owners of the new TB 350 experience faulty fuel indicator. Hello Everyone,
I have TBTS 350, April 12 model with around 7.5K running till now. Earlier, I had posted oil leakage issue on this same thread, but after fixing the same by ASC, all is fine now. This June-July, I have planned Leh-Ladhak trip, Pune to Pune, around 6100kms. Total duration is 21 days.
Yesterday, as build up to the same, did 690 kms one day ride that consists of some straight roads and loads of Ghat roads. Road conditions ranging from good to bad. I have also started preparation of collating gear for the trip. @madelikeagun's last year's travelogue has helped me a lot. I have also bought the saddle bag which I experimented with yesterday's drive and it passed with flying colours.
I did not see any thread about Leh 2013 planner and hence, adding it here. I have also started gathering spares like brake and clutch lever, rubber strap for Battery and Tool Kit etc. Please do let me know pointers from your side. I will also start a dedicated thread for Leh 2013 planner in the correct section.

Ohhhh YEAH.... Yippie.... Hhoohhhhh.... YEAH....YEAH....YEAH....
Hey Guyz,
Finally, she is here... Expecting my new Thunderbird 350 Flicker Black in a day or two. God damn, I am soooo excited... Can't wait to get my hands on her.
But as the time comes by, there are some questions arising in my mind (which was in hibernate mode earlier
). So here are some quick queries and I'm looking forward for some quick expert advise on them...
1. How to find manufacturing month/year from chasis no.?
- Searched for an answer and found this link on our own xBhp forum. Hope it is the correct method. (yeah, I know it is. but just for confirmation
)
2. PDI/Checklist ?
- Got it somewhere on this forum itself. But any additions to it or any special mentions are welcome.
3. As a safety measure I would like to install both crashguards (front as well as rear) before (or ASAP) I start riding. Where can I get good quality crashguards in Pune? I enquired @ Dhone showroom and found that they have front guard ONLY (Diamond crashguard @ 1100 Rs).
Please guide me to any other shop where I can get both @ some nice price BUT no compromise on quality...
4. And then here comes the MOST IMP. query... The silencer... As everyone knows that new birdie's silencer does not give that solid thump. Yeah, it's decent and nice but still that bull factor is missing. Can we change silencer of new model (I heard somewhere on this forum only that it's not a good idea..) Has anyone changed it ? If yes, is it OK to go for the upswept silencer of Classic model? I personally like that very much. And then I'll get it tuned for some solid thump (Please read SOLID and not LOUD).
Uummmm... enough for now. Any other mentions from your side are always welcome...
