Update after 2nd Free ServiceOriginally posted by chotu_r View PostHow was the headlight focus adjusted? I think there are only two bolts holding the entire headlight assembly to the chassis. Is there any other modification in the new model?
I too got my headlight re-adjusted at yesterday's servicing. The mechanic said it would be done by simply loosening the side bolts and adjusting the headlight assembly. (No adjusting of internal bulb filament etc etc). Took the beast for a good 45 min ride yesterday night to check out the difference in the headlight focus. It's much better than earlier. The low beam is spread out much more further than before. However, now the high beam seems slightly high
I guess I'll take the bird out for another ride tonight on a pitch black road and double check.
Regarding the fuel gauge, the supervisor at the ASC admitted that the company had received quite a few complaints from the new Thunderbird owners regarding the fuel gauge.. He said he'll try and check the fuel sensor etc etc. But I could see that he wasn't very confident that the problem would be solved. I am not keeping any hopes on the fuel gauge issue being rectified. Better to get used to it being that way.
The overall performance of the bike has improved after the 2nd servicing. Running is much smoother and engine sound is consistent and pleasant to the ear. Gear shifting has also improved and the beast is running much more smoother and effortlessly than before I feel..
By the way, as per the chart mentioned in the service manual, engine oil change is not mentioned for the 2nd service. However, the ASC supervisor said that they follow a practice of changing the engine oil at each and every service. He said that it helps especially in case of a new bike bcoz since the engine is new, there is quite a bit of wear and tear of the internal parts in the process of 'tuning' the engine; and that changing the oil helps clean out the wear & tear particles etc. I decided to trust his knowledge and so went ahead with his opinion.. So far so good

I am surprised that the supervisor actually recommended it! i am also following engine oil change at 3k km interval. Here i have to fight with them for changing engine oil! If i know how to change engine oil + oil filter & how to adjust the chain tension, i can skip going to the service center. I think it is best if we follow the manual as much as possible.Originally posted by parasharj View PostBy the way, as per the chart mentioned in the service manual, engine oil change is not mentioned for the 2nd service. Finally i was able to fit windshield to my bird. Total damages of ~1500 for everything including fitting. Thought it looked good before i purchased it, now im having second thoughts. Anyway, all is good as long as it protects me from bug splatter during rides! Will post some pics soon........
Thanks to Loner for guiding me to the shop.

Congratulations on owning the beast. Regarding saddle bags, try checking out a few websites which offer Royal Enfield accessories: namely almosauto.in, sansclassicparts.in and a few others. If you want a branded saddle bag, check out Cramster. It costs around 2700 bucks. I am based in pune and bought my saddle bag from gypsytents.com. It is an excellent bag and is priced at Rs 2100. Call them up and ask them if they can courier it to you in Bangalore.Originally posted by npawar View PostHello Everyone,

Bump!
Everyone seems to be sleeping on this thread! Im wondering if all TBs are running like a dream without any problems! Trying to poke you all awake
Updates at 13k: The usual UCE engine 'sewing machine' clatter has given way to a sharp metallic clatter pronounced at higher rpms. ASC mechs had attributed this to timing cam play and suggested that this play is adjusted at 10K kms interval. Wondering about that since i have seen close to zilch post mentioning such noise. Wasn't it supposed to be a trademark of the CIs though??
Have given the machine to ASC erragadda today only after noise got pretty much unbearable, was given a delivery date 3 days later! :O I have decided that i will do all regular servicing from next time onwards myself, atleast that is the present line of thinking........
Ordered for t10 4 smd leds to replace the stock halogen bulbs in the speedometer assembly. lets see whether they will fit or not.
sorry bro.... have dismantled it because of the rattling noise. windshield did not come with rubber washers or anything, figured i will put them later myself and removed it completely. will put it back in a week or two after getting the bike from asc. i have taken pic with it, but it was not properly aligned. so not posting it.Originally posted by parasharj View PostYes plz post some pics with the windshield.. Good that you have no problems. My TBTS is the older model with UCE engine.Originally posted by parasharj View PostThankfully, no problems with my TB thus far

In newer model you have only black colour.
@npawar do let us know if you find side luggage boxes. i am looking to see whether i can find boxes which will fit on both sides, so that they will look symmetrical and wont spol the look of the bike. only option so far is to get them fabricated
i posted a pic of such fabricated boxes a few pages before.

since a few weeks i'm observing a weird problem in my bird. i.e, whenever the engine's going off while its moving (in gear) a loud thud's being heard from the engine. that sound is similar to that of a metal object banging hard on another one. except for this everything's completely normal. yesterday the same thing happened while in traffic and after i started it, the gears were tight. but after a few kms they went back to normal
does anyone have knowledge whats going on with my bird ?

Hey, was waiting for someone knowledgable to throw some light on this. my guess is either problem with clutch or play in gearsOriginally posted by Loner View Postsince a few weeks i'm observing a weird problem in my bird. i.e, whenever the engine's going off while its moving (in gear) a loud thud's being heard from the engine. that sound is similar to that of a metal object banging hard on another one. except for this everything's completely normal. yesterday the same thing happened while in traffic and after i started it, the gears were tight. but after a few kms they went back to normal

anyway, do post back with what is actually the problem.
got back the bike from asc and initially the metallic noise was much reduced below 2.5k rpm. now it has been nearly a week since then and noise has returned but not to previous extent. am pondering over what to do..... will see if it increases to previous level in a week or so
