Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Handle bars come is a variety of shapes and sizes and prices. Ive seen stock handle bars from 650, RDx for 750, and a few fancy ones for 1400 -2400 Rs. I installed an RDx handle bar, for 750+200 Rs fitting charges to mechanic. Im not at all happy with the vibrations, as few others mentioned, so going back to stock in a cew days.Originally posted by Kush Kurkalang View PostHow much does it cost for changing handle bars?

Avenger mirrors, cost me approx 600 Rs, and I fit them myself, so no fitting costs involved there.
Cheers!

Oil leaks are a problem but not so much as it used to be with AVL engines. You need to replace the bushings from time to time if you want a leakfree bike, but after a while you'd stop bothering :P No problems so far with timing, piston, etc. the tappets do begin to click after 10000 on the odo, and can be annoying sometimes.Originally posted by Kush Kurkalang View Post1)How is the handling characteristic of the RE Thunderbird 350 in city traffic which is normally thick?
2) What are the common mechanical, electrical failures that happens with RE? The owners with UCE can share their ownership experience regarding their first 12 months. For easy understanding I am trying to break up the possible issues so that I can draw a pattern and brace myself for the worst:
a) Engine
No gearbox/clutchplate issues so far. Changes chain & sproket after 18000Kms. need to keep it lubricated, use chain lube every 10-15 days, depending on your riding.
b) Transmission
By far the most unreliable system in my experience. Have changed the battery twice already. Special care needs to be taken in monsoons, battery gets shorted because of water logging in the terminals/wires. Keep it covered as much as possible during rains.c) Electricals
Yes nuts get loose from time to time, but ASC guys retighten them during servicing, and I havent had major issues. Rusting is a problem, again rain care needs to be spot on. I have major rusting in one of the plates in the chasis, and some rusting on fork caps, and chasis as well. Wheel misalignment has been a frequent issue lately, which is why I am considering alloy wheels, still wondering if that would helpd) Chassis - Rusting of specific body parts, Frequent loosening of nuts and bolts, wheel misalignment.
No problems in that area, had to replace the fork once, but that must have been because of a crash.e) Suspension
[/QUOTE]f) Any other
make sure it is well serviced, and well looked after. Manual mentions the oil change interval to be 6000kms, but i prefer changing oil around 3000-4000kms for proper performance. the last 1500 kms in the mentioned 6000 is truly a drag, and ur just being cruel to the engine.
Hope this helps.
If you can think of any solutions for the problems I have mentioned, please throw some back as well.
Cheers!

As for changing handle bars, I think you didn't fix bar-end weights with handle bars of RD350. Try them and then you won't face the overwhelming vibrations.

I have in fact, used the stock handle bar end weights with the handle bar. Too much vibrations, doesnt matter if i remove the weights or add them back, vibrations dont change. Are ther specific weights to be put along with RDx handle bars? Do you know of any?

Hello!!! I am facing a problem regarding a humming sound coming from my bike whenever I ride on first 3 gears. It goes away once I release the throttle but again comes back when I increase the throttle. I don't know where it is emanating from?? Do you guys have any idea or faced this kind of situation?? I have 11000+ in odo and it's nearly 1.5 years of age. Is it a concern or should I ignore it?
Thanks....IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO RISK IT ALL, THEN YOU DON'T WANT IT BAD ENOUGH

If it is a slight sound(one which you cant hear when you wear a helmet), I dont see much to worry about, but do mention this during your next service. If the sound is loud enough, then please get it looked at from the SVC.
Cheers!

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
Haha you must be quoting somenath. He was mentioning about lighter weights, but no that doesn't work. We've had long hard discussions regarding that even off this forum.Originally posted by Kush Kurkalang View PostI read it in this thread, there is specific weight for RD handle bar, but they didn't mention about it in detail.
So I guess its switch back to stock handlebars for now.
Anyway, thanks.

Re: Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 Owners Experiences
First and foremost check if any pipe nearby your chain is cut loose, I've seen this in many thunderbirds, secondly try to check where the sound is coming from, is it the engine, chain, break or something else. Once we know where it is emitting from then we can get to the root of it more easilyOriginally posted by Ritabroto View Post
