try measuring the distance between the arms of the swingarm & decide. if grip is important, you could try going for michelin sirac.Originally posted by behrama View PostGuys is it possible to fit a 130/80 r18 or 140/70 r18 tyre on the new thunderbird, if yes.. has any one done it on this bike or a classic 500? Also any suggestions for which tyre to use?
fitted a combination of 4,8,20 smd leds in the instrument console. will certainly recommend the 8 smd ones....... now i can see the turn indicator blinking clearly at noon also.
sorry, no pics here !

Hi,
I have few queries so there I go(I have TB 2011)
1: I changed to Philips Crystal Vision 4300K as I thought white light is better, it helped the cause but i will have problem driving at night the light is to scattered shall i also changed the reflector or go for Extreme h4 5K, previous also I was very unhappy with my head lights & also shall i go for relays as my battery is old.
2: I was thing to change to iridium Spark Plug I can see them online 1200 INR is that the right price or I can also get them for less somewhere.
3: Updating to K&N is a good option or not also which model and that all I have to change after installing that.
thanks,

1) for city riding change your reflector dome to metallic reflector of autopal or lumax and put a philips 3700k bulb. for highways, if you have the dough, put new tbts headlight assembly. put a hid inside the projector for good measure!
2)i am guessing you havent changed your spark plugs. i replaced my stock ones with ngk conventional ones at 14.5k and they serve the purpose. iridium is too costly, and if your mech unknowingly removes them and tries to scrape them for cleaning purpose, then its 1k down the drain.
3)if you upgrade to k&n, then you have to upjet your carb and change exhaust to free flow also. i am guessing you haven't changed your air filter also. i changed mine along with the spark plugs and bike pulls like it did when it was new.
now i have decided to change parts as per intervals mentioned in service manual.

Team,
I have a query on TB350 clutch. My bike is April 2012 registered. Odo shows 8300 kms running till date. I am planning a trip to Leh Ladhak all the way from Pune and back. Considering the scenario of high altitude climbs, would you recomend to change the clutch plates before I start on this expedition? Currently, I do not experience any clutch slippage or power loss. My mileage is around 42 kms in city driving conditions.
Your inputs are most appreciated.
Take care and ride safely

while i do not have any 'ladakh' experience, i thought it might be useful to let you know that my clutch cable gave up on me at around 12k on the odo. At 15k now, my clutch plates still appear to be going good.Originally posted by rkavthekar View PostTeam,

@chotu_r, thanks for your inputs. I am carrying extra clutch cable as well as accelerator cable in spares. Its just that a couple of guys asked to change the clutch plates before going to Leh.
@madelikeagun - I was following your Leh travelogue quite keenly last year. Did you change your clutch plates? or immediately after returning back? All I remember was that you changed back to mineral oil from Synthetic. Am I missing something?

@ Rajesh: I'm from Pune and I also did Manali-Leh with my wife as pillion last June on a rented Electra. We were told by some ppl that we would be able to cross Rohtang only if our clutch plate doesn't give up. Apparently, that's how tough the Rohtang stretch is on the clutch plate etc. While we were understandably pretty nervous after hearing such advice, we decided not to replace the clutch plates (since it was a rented RE and plus the cost involved) and went ahead on hope. Of course, we were carry spares such as accelerator & clutch cables, a spare spark plug etc in our utility vehicle (which again thankfully, we did not require during the trip).
So the only advice as such that I can give you, is to thoroughly check the condition of your clutch plate, get a proper opinion on it from the ASC (after telling them that you'll be doing the Ladakh stretch) and see what they recommend. If cost is not an issue, then go ahead and get a new one!

Hello ppl... Finally I took the effort and calculated the mileage of my new TBTS 350 using the tankfull method.. And the figure left me speechless.. 46.58 km per litre!!!! I re-calculated and then again re-calculated, and sure enough, it was the same figure.. 46 km/litre is astounding!

@parasharj Thanks for the inputs. My plan is to get the bike completely serviced once again around 15th May, a month in advance to the ride to Leh on 15th June. I will ask ASC to recheck if the clutch plates change is really needed. I also intend to do a ride post this service to ensure that everything is OK with the bike. My last service on the bike was about 800 kms back and I would probably put on another 1000 odd kms by mid May.
Also the average that you are getting for the new TBTS 350 is amazing and with a 20 litre capacity fuel tank, thats an amazing range.
take care and ride safely
