However as I mentioned before in my threads, the battery was something I neglected on my bull for almost a year. Anyway, coming to the topic, the electric start would not work. As soon as I pushed the ignition the Neutral light would go dead. So I kick start the bull and went about with some more work I had in town.

Once the bull was running all electricals starting with bulb horn was running perfect. So I thought it was just one off incident. Usually when a battery is about to die, it gives you symptoms atleast 6 months prior it fails. This I say from my experience. Batterys just dont fail on you. So I parked my bike and went about my work. Only this time to my horror when I returned all electricals seized to function. When I turned on the ignition key, no neutral light, no horn, meter was dead, everything out. Yet I knew it was not the fuse because the Neutral light was still doing its slow motion blinking. I kicked the bull to start atleast 20 times but the bull refused to start.

With no other option, I pushed the bike to my mechanic who was just 1 Km away. Luck or fate I dont know. Pushing a bull is one hellafa labour. After reaching the mechanic, he took a voltmeter and checked the battery terminal and the battery seemed just fine. He checked battery terminal for loose contact and that is what he found. He removed the battery terminal and found thick black/gray dirt (possibly accumulated during the dusty Ladakh terrain). He cleaned the terminas and connected them to the battery. The electricals came back to life and electric start worked wonders.

What puzzled me was what I asked the mechanic as well, with fuel in the bike why did the engine not start with kick start. The mechanic said the entire bullet circuit is running on the battery. He demonstrated the same. With the bull running, he pulled out one terminal from the battery to cut the circuit and the engine just went dead!!! As much as I was pissed, the system should have had a backup design to function even if the battery were dead. I understand this system for an EFI model, but for the carburetor ones, the bike should have been given the capability to run without battery.

Anyways, now with lesson learned, I wanted to share this with fellow xBhpians so that you keep your battery in good condition and terminals cleaned every service.
Hehehe... This is normal with Bullets
Whenever you see any bulb blinking abnormally, first thing to check is the electricals. I have experienced a lot of times that some or the other wire is in touch coz of which the battery fuse goes off while riding in different terrains. Even behind the headlight assembly, there are lot of wire exposed n if they have tape around them, then they are the first ones to give trouble.

I got my entire wiring assembly changed just a month back coz at many places the wire were tapped and were troubling a lot. Now I'm a happy bullet guy with new electrical wiring

        • Hey can you give split up of your First service bill, you said it was ~780. They are not supposed to charge for labour for free service right ? Why is the bill high ?
And also can you post a pic of projector lamp in night, want to see hows it on road in night.

even i'm facing this battery issue. around 2 months back, suddenly one morning the battery went low and the self didn't work, horn was way too weak but it started on first kick and after running for a while battery became normal and self worked for the rest of the day but next morning it was the same issue. this went on for 2-3 days and then battery became normal, battery water level was normal and terminals were clean.. again around a few weeks back the same thing repeated. i.e, self not working, blah blah blah and after 2-3 days back to normal. did the same check and everything's looking normal.

and thanks for the mechanic's number

I achieved a top speed of 130 kmph on ODO. 0-100 >> not really tested but initially the pickup is slow but it builds on once you get past 80...

                  • yah thats true ... once you cross the 100 mark, the bike starts picking up a lot ....
also try to heat up the engine a bit, and then try to go for the speed .... that way its easier to reach 120 and above

Ohh that's a hell of a speed for 200kg machine and I think there won't b much difference in the top end of TB 500& 350.
And does anybody have idea about avenger's top end..??!the budget rival to TB 350.

First of all a TBTS 350 is not 200 kgs ... and a TB 500 can easily go above 130 ...
so no comparison about that ...

Are you looking for a track/race bike or a high-way cruiser. Why are u this much concerned about top speed.?

In my experience if you keep a avg speed of 80KM/h you can cover 600+ KMs with in 9-10hrs(From my Bangalore to Kerala ride experience) at that speed, covering more distance is a easy task for both rider and machine.

Update: Yesterday got the bike after the 1'st Service,Now bike is running very smoothly,No tappet sound,Gear shifts became smoother,Now bike starts with single kick/crank.

Total Service charge was 1150 including Teflon coating.

                            • Here is a pic of my TBTS 350 after fitting the Air Fly crash guard + Chrome rear view mirrors. The existing Air Fly crash guard fits as it is. It does not interfere with the foot pedals. However, the Diamond crash guard does touch the foot pedals (as mentioned by Vinay earlier). I was clear that I wanted to go in for the Air Fly design, hence bought the crash guard from a spare parts shop and fitted it on my own (Was much tougher than I thought it would be..Phew!). If you want to go in for the Air Fly crash guard, I suggest you get one immediately. There is no need to wait for the new crash guard to arrive.

And earlier today, I also changed the stock black plastic RVMs and replaced them with the RE Electra Chrome mirrors. Finally, my beloved beast now looks complete! (the plastic RVMs were really killing me).

1st servicing is due in 4 days time. Will post my post-servicing experiences soon! If anyone wants any specific info regarding my ride experiences so far, feel free to ping me
